When the player is on loan to another European club it's up to the clubs to decide that, but domestically (in England anyway) it isn't allowed.

Someone mentioned in the last page that Bojan played for Ajax against his parent club Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this season.

Raises way too many questions far UEFA not to intervene, especially considering we're involved. It's a dodgy as fuck rule if a player on loan is actually able to play against his parent club, let alone a goalkeeper.
