🇧🇪 Thibaut Courtois

Best goalkeeper worldwide in commanding his area. Has a sick a talent for high balls, etc. But during his long time off he couldn't catch the ball anymore at the field. So the feeling had to come back first, but I think he was thrown in the team too soon. Now he lacks confidence in that aspect. If he regains his confidence he will be Captain Area again. It doesn't help when people shout things when he drops a ball, just support him if you know he has the qualities for it.

He is still making some great saves and the goals that go in are normal unsavable balls. So overall he performs very good, no reason to bash at him when he lacks a bit of confidence. His footballing skills were never the greatest, but now they are also worse because of the same reason.

Against Watford and United PHE-NO-ME-NAL. But this thread is covered in a sick amount of silence. The Cech fans don't like it when his succeeder shows he's clearly the better goalkeeper. Can we support Chelsea now instead?

Just as usual everybody is screaming hallelujah for DDG and Courtois is mentioned in a footnote. While DDG only had to do normal saves and Courtois was the one who made the world class saves. But most fans here agree with that because they rather support Cech than Chelsea.

Made a couple of unreal saves, particularly the one he tipped over the bar from Martial(?) in the first half. Unlucky for him he was overshadowed by De Gea who always has his one World Class performance of the season against us.

Don't understand all of you are criticising him today. He played a very good match. Couldn't do much about the second goal. Was in a good position but was bad luck. Without his saves the score would have been much worse.

He had a decent game, all the saves he made are saves you expect him to make. Disappointed with the second goal however, got his angles all wrong. As a GK you shouldn't really get beaten at the near post like that if you do the basics right and take the right angle to come out.

average performance. made the saves he had to but nothing extraordinary really. would have saved cavani's goal had he stayed on the touchline. cavani was drifting wide and our defenders where catching up. bad decision.

Lolz, the 90th minute save was pure class and a goal 90% of the time in the EPL. Made a couple of excellent saves besides that. He blocked Cavani well for the second goal, but the ball went through the tiny opening he let. More unlucky than bad. And more a defenders error than a goalkeeper error for sure. Not one defender ran alongside Cavani, wtf?

Decent game with some important saves. But I also had the idea he could have done a lot better at the 2nd goal. Certainly at the moment itself I thought: Tibo wtf are you doing so far at of your goal.

On the other hand... Cavani ran away from 4 defenders with one simple turn (??!!). With a little defense... Tibo would probably could have stayed in his goal, preventing this goal to happen!

Petr Cech was also beaten at his near post in the first leg in Paris back in 2014 and got the stick for that. And in the return leg, he performed brilliantly and made a fabulous save at his near post in the last minute. And we went through :D I prefer staying positive :D

Despite his overall brilliance, he's not a clean sheet GK. Not the type to produce games in which he simply refuses to concede.

Harsh to criticise him today though. Score would've been embarrassing if it wasn't for him.

When Courtois was about to reach the milestone of 100 clean sheets I stumbled upon an amazing comparison ... Cech only had 37 clean sheets before the age of 23, Neuer 60, Buffon 62 and Casillas comes closest with 71 clean sheets before the age of 23 ... the least you can say about Courtois is that he's ahead of the curve.

Well over 100 clean sheets before the age of 23  ... yet you claim that Courtois isn't a clean sheet GK.
