CHOULO19 24,332
I think a PL loan is quite wrong. It would be naive to think a guy that just won the EL, the cup, The belgian Championship and goalie of the year would just go about a year of .... what? Wigan, QPR,, or what? He should be here. Learn from Cech, compete with him, fill in for him and maybe .... once fulfills his promise and take over. It will happen anytime with our without Courtois. Similarly, it would be wrong to think that a keeper who has won all those is ready to sit on the bench and only play 5-10 matches for a whole season. What matters is that he plays week-in week-out, imo. BlueLion. and Stingray

BlueLion. 21,491
Sure, Courtois play against Manchester United and Cech play against Macclesfield. Cech is streets ahead of Courtois at the minute. In terms of all-round goalkeeping - distribution, handling, reactions, shot-stopping, dealing with crosses - Cech is better in every department but for distribution right now. Put that down to age and experience. Courtois isn't quite ready. He has incredible potential but he isn't ready to play for Chelsea right now. A loan to a club in the lower thralls of the Premier League will be best for his development. He'd get into most Premier League teams quite well, and even if he went to a club such as Wigan, he'd have a good goalkeeper in Ali al-Habsi to challenge him. pHaRaOn
BlueLion. 21,491
Fixed There's no evidence that suggests he will be brilliant. He has potential, but so does David de Gea, and he is seriously error-prone. If a goalkeeper is error-prone, how can you call him brilliant?I am not blind to the raw talent TC has, but a lot of people on here - our Belgian contingent especially - are being naive on this issue. I am excited as you are that we have signed a future potential goalkeeping great, but we, like Thiabut, need to keep our feet on the ground. Stingray 9,441
Seriously error prone? Naive belgian contingent? Where does this come from? Funny. I think Cech is indeed much much better and much older and experienced too. But there is no need to overshoot and derogate Courtois. The guy IS doing really well in a really good top side. I think that is all the 'Belgian delegation' is pointing out. Ps: is it still ok to disagree without the fear of the banhammer, lol! I think you're going way too far in emphasising Courtois's potential and ignoring the fact that he's actually already a very good keeper. I also think it's wrong to compare him to De Gea simply because they're both young and played at Atlhletico. Courtois is better than De Gea.De Gea has always been great at the spectacular but had some problems with the fundamentals (shots close to the feet and crosses in particular) which is the area that Courtois has been very solid in. I'm not against the idea of him going on loan to a premier league club for a year but I think we're past the stage of bringing him back to the club to share time with Cech. Let him go to and Everton and get to learn the league before looking to make that change. Cech at 31-32 still has value approaching double figures and we have a guy for the next decade. LMAO, what's the point of having a forum if we can't disagree and thus debate?I'm not denying that he is doing very well. My point lies in the fact people are getting too excited over him. Is he ready to replace Petr Cech? No. Why? Because he isn't quite on the same level yet. That is my point. I am not being derogatory towards Courtois, just being realistic. He is a good young goalkeeper, but when you consider Cech's considerable experience, he is the best goalkeeper we have and therefore for Courtois to continue to improve and develop (rather than sitting on the bench for four games in every five), it is important he stays away from Chelsea and plays regularly.I think you're going way too far in emphasising Courtois's potential and ignoring the fact that he's actually already a very good keeper. It is showing the fact that such young goalkeepers aren't always ready to make the jump straight away into another team. But I absolutely agree with the need for TC having a Premier League loan. He needs to learn the ins and outs of this division, and it is more beneficial to him to learn actually playing rather than warming the bench at Stamford Bridge. Weckerz 3,781
Just loan him to a subtop team in England and he'll be our first keeper in the 2014-2015 season. I could make an arguement that he's ready for Chelsea now but I'll just be accused of wearing Belgium tinted glasses BlueLion.
BlueLion. 21,491
I think you are taking me incorrectly... I said a lot of people are getting a bit too excited over TC, but our Belgian members especially. We all do it - the English overrate the English players, the Brazilians do the same with Oscar/Luiz/Ramires/Piazon, etc. etc. No offence was meant, but if it was caused then I apologise. bushman 2,043
Perhaps, some of us might overrate their country´s players but that it should not give anyone the right to ridicule it.Every one of us should be entitled to an opinion, I feel. Whether one likes it or not.To be accused of not being a true Chelsea fan, because of it, as in my case is getting on my nerves.

The sweet spot is probably in between Hamilton and BlueLion.

It was me that decided to go to Chelsea, though, and I am really happy to be a Chelsea player. "Before the end of the season, we will sit down and talk again. Whatever decision we take I am sure will be the right one. If I can stay here and we are in the Champions League, maybe that is better than being in the Premier League.
