Peace. 4,352
Quite useful game actually, it has just proved that we have to offload : Anelka, Malouda, Kalou, Bosingwa if we want to be competitive.

ack17 205
This match proves that the current squad has already show their ability. We need an overhaul, otherwise this season is hopeless

chrismada9 1,948
What have I learned from watching this match... well a few things to be exact... - Bosingwa and Kalou NEED to be sold! I think Bosingwa was just terrible in all ways possible. He never took the ball under control, he always gave it away, and his decision making is just poor. I would much prefer seeing Ivanovic playing at RB on the strength of that. - Kalou, although, give him his due he did make some exeedingly good runs... was generally poor as well, and I wouldn't mind at all if we got rid of him as well. - Our midfield produced nothing! I don't understand why McEachran had to play at DM, when he has so many attacking qualities to give. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever! lionsden 4,689
only positive from 2nd half ...YOSSI ... most ineffective player LampardAbsolutely agree, for me Yossi was the man of the match. . even Josh had a bad game. overall a dissapointing match if AVB still thinks this current team can challenge for the title then he must be delusional
Kostas 1,468
To think that last season I sounded like a miserable bastard..It's our 2nd pre-season game ffs.
dodojojo 510
Just a friendly and 23 players used so perhaps a great midfield may come out of the squad. But from this game, it reminds me from last season that this midfield needs to be upgraded. Lampard was anonymous.

The Big Drog 1,110
Ye bit patchy but Jason Cundy said it best at half time, its a pre season game and thats exactly the way it was played, not at full tempo and a bit niggly. I thought Sturridge did very well first half and should definitely be starting in that spot wee in, week out. McEachran grew into the game as it went on and played a couple of fantastic passes, Benayoun did well second half, Anelka and Lampard was close to invisible, alou continues to find new ways to frustrate, Bosingwa did well and Terry and Chabolah(potential bad spelling) played well at the back, Malouda had a decent half, Torres also had a decent half but never really got the service, I thought he would have done better playing as part of the second half team than the first half one, Drogba was poor. Hilario was in full flow, giving away a stupid penalty, making a fantastic penalty save and then almost costing us 2 goals with some poor judgement and awful positioning, with Courtois incoming maybe we wont have to see him play for Chelsea agin? Wishful thinking, I know. Its difficult to say what we learned because it is a pre season and its difficult to judge it because of that however its pretyty clear the team need a playmaker, Luka Modric is that man, hopefully we can sign him because the problem of supplying Torres remains. If you were judge it on this one (and probably much of last season too) then its time for Nic Anelka to go.
