Ollie 4,400
Started today at 5pm and after 4 hours there's already 5 pages and everyone's probably said the same shit that has been said on the AVB thread. Ok how i see it...... He has shit players and he cannot use them how he wants because they're shit. He came in the summer and he had no choice really but to use these players for a year so he can judge them and decide in a years time who needs to go and who needs to stay. It's now February 11th and we already know the answer.... well we knew the answer a year or 2 ago to be fair but as the manager, he can't just get rid of 6 players or so just like that, it takes time. It doesn't matter who the manager is with these players, there is just no cohesion, no tempo and no balance to this side what so ever, it's so poor, even Tottenham are world beaters compared to us and they aint got a Russian Billionaire who can just take 100m out of his pocket n say "YO, here's some dough for Hazard!"When Bosingwa is gone and Malouda and Kalou are gone and we replace them with AVB's signings who will (hopefully) be younger and better with more creativity, pace and skill, we will once again fight for the premiership but until then, we are shit, we will remain being shit and we wont win fuck all because of our manager? no, because of our players? yes. Lampard and Essien have had their time, Essien has really gone, he has no pace and no mobility, his injuries have really fucked him badly. Drogba probably has to go too so they have to be considered 2nd choice and not start every game although part of me wishes DD will be our main striker next season. Raul Meireles has got to play less too because although he helps the team a lot with his work rate, he's the guy to bring on rather than start, he doesn't score and he doesn't create too much either. He's a bit like our Tiago we had in 2005. These players are great to have in the squad though so keep him but use him more sparingly to see a game out. Bottom line is quite simple (probably said that a few times).... Judge him at the end of next season when he either succeeds brilliantly or fails miserably with HIS PLAYERS! Then he would have no excuses.i reckon he's got 2 more years unless things get really, really bad and he has fistycuffs with RA.
laura90 556
I am not dissappointed with AVB. Since transfer window closed, I have been saying we will play in Europa League with him. So far so good. Due to decline in form of our the most important and the most influental players, we have had disturbed hierarchy in the team for quite some time. That led to lack of leadership, lack of team spirit, lack of unity and in the and lack of motivation. Mix that with not so talented players and you get yourself the mess bigger than bad coach. Couple of months older and inexperienced AVB couldn't cope with this squad. Suprise, suprise. The only way he could have chance to succeed is with new players. This board and unfortunately team will pay for bad decisions taken in the past, especially during last year. It's inevitable. It will take much more from AVB sacking to repair the damage.I believe he will stay. I also believe we don't have to play CL next season. And I am looking forward seeing our youngsters in next season Europa League. If he get sack, Hiddink will come. He will cost less.
eldo 868
Have you been following Ancelotti? Top of Ligue 1. I think he found a good situation for himself, hope to see him next year in the Champions League (if we make it that is!).Not really, don't have that much time now to watch random games. I just check results. It will be interesting to see them.
zolayes 14,489
The Players arent as bad as some people here make them out to be,(except torres)They are playing way below their standards through the season. The problem may not be VB completely....Many times when a manager is not too strong, his assistant coach holds that role of being tough and gets players motivated and does a whole lot more work behind the scenes....RDM was a horrible 1st team coach... god knows why we hired him. Ray Wilkins commanded respect and got players playing with the right mindset. Get him back. The Players arent as bad as some people here make them out to be,(except torres)They are playing way below their standards through the season. Iced 34
After today I really don't know anymore.. Im tired of us never giving our managers enough time to make a difference and it's the truth that we soon need to make a long term decision for the future. That being said there are positives and negatives with our current manager which we must be taken into consideration.Positives1. thinking for the future with new young signings2. trying to tactically implement a new style which we have clearly lacked in previous years3. I get the idea that he really cares about this club and you can see it in him. He's animated and seems almost emotional in his actions on and off the pitch. Negatives1. (if the rumors are true) He might have a problem with authority, possibly due to his age, and isn't getting the respect of some players. This is huge.. The manager is supposed to be a leader. How are you supposed to motivate your players. Consider a game like today when your down at halftime and you need to give the speech of your life to instil confidence in your team so that you come out a different side. 2. I don't think he's been getting all his substitutions right. This is probably the biggeat negtative as it shows a lack of tactics and strategy. I'm not going to bother mention them all specIfically but consider today.. why would you ever take off the most creative player and replace him with another striker so he can get even less service from our clearly lacking midfield? 3. His team selection seems off sometimes..Why he continues to play bosingwa is beyond me. If we really are in a state of transition then we need to start playing some of the youngsters in the mix somehow. If fergie can do it why cant we. If our older legends arent performing them avb needs to put them on the bench.. again maybe this is also an authority problem. That being said I think I would only like to see 2 options which I haven't got the slightest idea in making a desision yet.1. We stick with avb and give him a minimum of another 2 seasons. He's making some mistakes but most of his problems aren't his fault. I don't think any manager in the world could have came in and been immensely successful this year with our aging squad. 2. We welcome Jose back long term and let him stay with us until he retires. He's proven himself enough as a manager and imo currently the best in the world. The board has got alot of thinking to do and all we can do is pray and hope they get it right this time.
Badboy 1,526
I have come to the realization that he is basically an apprentice. He's learning on the job and its damaging us, i also thought it was the player and to a certain extent I still do. He's making school boy errors like the high line which cost us so many goals, he is also trying to play a brand of football without the players who are needed. He's tactical errors and I don't want Roman giving him 100 million in the summer now, the guy needs to work at another club until he's at least in his 40's. He's wayyyyy to young and inexperienced to be managing a club this size in this quick minor detail league.

ChelseaFanMKD 41
I'm quite sure that AVB will surely stay till summer at least because IMO Abramovich finally understood that with changing managers so often won't bring us trophies. We're in the middle of a shit period, but things will get better. If we sack AVB now, things wont get better. I'm finding this as a transitional year, a period of transition, and i believe that the summer will be a period when AVB(with his 1 year experience at Chelsea) will surely know what players he has to sign(we must not forget that one of the reasons we didn't buy anyone this winter period was because most of the players were cup-tied for the UCL)That said, i have support for AVB, although i must say that 2 things that really are pissing me off :1) The non-sense subs that AVB has made especially lately2) In this transitional year, called by many including AVB, we surely need to play younger players more. So, i think you have got my point.KTBFFH!!! Kojo 4,676
This might sound hpocrytical of me, infact it's very hypocrytical, but it's just been on my mind all night, we should show AVB full support, we need to highlight he's young, premier league is one of a kind, where serie a and la liga are similar, AVB was going to have it hard, he took the challenge, he's got a punishment. But i want my team to do well, so even though i think it's best to go, i really hope he's good enough and he's not the shit manager i see that he is, anyway i'm going to try and show some support for him over the forum, not that it means anything but just to brighten things up. I want him to do well and i'm sure everyone else does, and i know it's very hypocrytical because i pretty much made the thread, only thing is i think i'm hanging onto my faith too much. manpe 10,861
We're starting to sound like the Arsenal supporters at the start of the season. If AVB gets sacked, no one will want to take his job.I think Mourinho wouldn't mind coming back, it would be a proper challenge for him. Other coaches.. only for big fat bucks and a wee bit of masochism.
