Imagine if we bring in Kevin de Bruyne and Luka Modric in as well. I believe this is the most sensible we've ever been in the transfer market, we haven't merely thrown money at clubs for their best players. We are building for the future of this club and frankly, this ranks alongside the Shevchenko and Torres signings as being so massively exciting!!

Here I thought Gourlay was just sitting in his office eating pies. Go figure.

We all know the Mata transfer is thanks to our number one negotiator, el Nino.

BBC Sport: "The deal is subject to a medical, with reports suggesting the 23-year-old could join for the Blues for £23.5m."

What sites report £26m?

It's irrelevant whether it's 26m or 23m. the point is that mata is relatively cheap by today's transfer market's standard where the likes of Pastore are valued at 45m and Henderson at 20m.

if mata is £26 million, silva was about £25 million, is mata better than silva??

Have you considered the time difference and transfer market inflation?

At £26m. Mata cost only £6m more than Henderson. Holly moses

Yes. Man city, Real madrid, PSG and Abramovich and the FFP are responsible for the inflation.

Don't forget to add, what Mourinho paid for Coentrao.....
