  1. Bienvenue! Welcome! I always appreciate when more women join! I hope you enjoy and keep posting. Kerry
  2. My guess, is you also had an EI (emotional Intelligence) test along with an IQ test. The newest school of thought is that it is a mixture of the two that makes someone successful.
  3. Thanks for the pics Kez he is a cutie! Who is that in the background on the last one
  4. UGH, I am so not going to be able to stay awake for another 5 hours My least favorite games have become the UEFA games because they are on at 2:45 am... if they were later, I could get up early and if it was earlier I could stay up late. So cheer a little extra for me. I am going cross my fingers and hope it is rebroadcast tomorrow a.m. here.
  5. Jim, I've noticed that in Safari on my laptop that sometimes the "reply to this topic" box is either really tiny or sometimes missing all together and ironically sometimes just fine! Is this on your end or my computers? Thanks K
  6. Ron, An amazing post from an amazing man! I agree 100% I however will probably never hit the 10,000 post mark!
  7. WHS.... aw hell just go and ruin my ability to watch football! You do realize if they leave then football here will go back to be shite???
  8. Don't get your hopes up just yet, they are helping put Chinese football in the global eye and I suspect they will work to keep them in Shanghai. The reason for all the speculation is this article: http://www.chinadail...nt_15710272.htm The Chinese love the attention that having two big power houses in the sport here. They will fight to keep them. Not to mention, they have done wonders for Shenhua. As for the fact his family is still in England, I wouldn't take that as being significant. There are many expats that live in China who do not bring their families. And many times, families will follow 6 -12 months behind because of the hassle of moving internationally. Moving is a pain no matter what but when you have to ship things to a foreign country it become a nightmare. Also if his contract is a short one 2-3 years, he may have decided that it is best for his family to stay where they are and have stability of being surrounded by the things they know. Unless a child is fluent in Mandarin or very young, the only choice you have are the international schools and they are very expensive (along the lines of college tuition in the US... at a private college). Then you have to get the visa and residence permits and the ease of this that depends on your nationality. While this is probably easier for the likes of Drogba and Anelka, it is still a time consuming and lengthy process. It is a huge decision to uproot your family and move them to a country that they don't speak the language, can't read the signs, and know absolutely no one. Trust me on that one!
  9. guys the life before internet was less than 100 years ago... I remember my first computer and it wasn't internet capable and that was in the 1980's. Cap... why do you think it is only Americans' that want to restrict the internet and why the hell would you assume our government speaks for the majority? Don't fool yourself, any government wants to restrict the internet... it is a source of unrest. No government on this planet has not considered restricting the internet. Some like where I live do it frequently, others are going to regret not doing it sooner.... people want freedom and most don't know what the hell to do with it.
  10. You do know only the USADA is the only organization that has stripped Armstrong of his titles right? The UCI hasn't actually made a statement yet. The USADA came into being in 1999 and in the same year they started hunting Lance Armstrong... hmmm amazing they chose the most well known athlete in 1999 to ruin... I'd be more convinced of all this if it was UCI or another anti-doping agency chasing him down. The USADA is a power hungry group and honestly, I don't think they have the right type of regulations.
  11. well that is really depressing if it is true!
  12. Yes some of the nicknames are actually quite juvenile. Especially ones like Purdue Boilermakers, Indiana Hoosiers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, ... they came from the sports writers in the early 1900's who often used them to describe other teams and sometime were just being insulting. Purdue became the boilermakers because one writer thought our players were so big they looked like the boilermakers from the railroad. A lot of people assume it is because of the drink, the boilermaker (A beer with a shot of whisky in the bottom (glass and all)) but I believe that came after the nickname. The early years of the space program was an amazingly dangerous time. I don't think they had a firm grasp of just how dangerous until some of the accidents occurred like the one Grissom died in. It was a tragic and preventable accident. I've read the report and I have seen several documentaries on it and it is interesting to read the why and how of the accidents.
  13. It is scary how many there are! I am willing to bet that all phones have a tracker in them. Anything with GPS can be tracked. I really hit my limit with Google when I bought a AT&T go phone to use in the US in the summer. In order to use any of the apps you had to log in through google. I also don't like the way that they have stitched all their products together to gather more information on you.
  14. RIP to another fine Boilermaker Armstrong was an Alum of Purdue University (my alma mater) and today they had a lovely memorial service for him. (just a side note: The aeronautical Engineering building is named for him, and I took Chemistry in a building named for another alum and astronaut Grissom)
  15. Not on your life, google is the most annoying privacy invasive company out there
  16. As far as I know Apple doesn't sponsor any sports team, they don't spend money on that type of marketing. Which I am sure makes their investors happy. Samsung is a good logo, it blends well with the shirt. Some of the sponsor's logos/text stands out more than the team crest sometimes (Thinking of Bimbo...)
  17. Good Luck and I hope it all works out
  18. Welcome to TC! I've been around here for ages now and they tolerate me okay. There are the occasional ribbings about being a Yankee... and I just remind them that I'm not from NY or a fan of the Yankees! Actually, I am just teasing, it's a great group. I wouldn't have stuck around otherwise
