  2. Hola, Fran! Welcome to Talk Chelsea! Look forward to your posts.
  3. Welcome to TC I have to admit, by default (having grown up in Michigan), I am a Red Wings fan
  4. Hoping as always for a win and hoping to be able to watch (my life's story being so dang far ahead time wise). It would be nice to go into the international break on a positive note!
  5. It's good to balance the academic subjects with a subject that you do just because you love it. I never took art or music in secondary school (i can't draw at all and need a bucket to carry a tune) and my school didn't offer many other options except for wood shop, auto mechanics (yes, auto repair), and home economics (sewing, cooking, decorating)... well, lets just say I stay as far away from that corridor as I possibly could! I'm a chemist so I am actually a decent cook, i have to admit having to convert all my recipes to metric has been fun finding ingredients is sometimes a challenge but it does give me something to do on days that are boring!
  6. I believe that it was a witch hunt and that he finally gave up. Do I think he doped? probably but shouldn't there be a statue of limitation in proving it? it's been 13 years that he has been fighting this. I believe when he returned to racing that it stirred up the pot again and they went after him because he was so successful and so well known that it would make an impact. How many other Tour de France winners are as well known? In the US... NONE, outside the US probably more but it isn't like he is a professional footballer and competes in a sport that everyone watches. Honestly, I think the USADA should be focusing on the athletes competing currently and not going back and persecuting athletes a decade after the fact! What's the point? Honestly, it makes the agency look like it is run by a bunch of disgruntled ex-athletes/non-athletes with an axe to grind. From what I understand it is not a government agency which is a good thing because I would be twice as annoyed to think that my tax dollars went to pay for this crap again (the taxpayers paid for the first two congressional hearings/federal cases he has been thru). So many other more worthy things my money could be paying for!
  7. Hope your birthday is amazing!! Happy Birthday, Layla!
  8. it's good to see that you are sticking with the Maths and science so many don't want to after GCSE's are done. Photography sounds interesting
  9. Nicely done! what's up next for you?
  10. Yes, in a manner of speaking you can say that I am familiar with it. More in the sense of been there done that and am on the other side of the marking pen now. So is my favorite person, zoyales ) So neither of us give studying/school advice lightly. I implemented the AP Chem program at the school I taught at before we moved to Asia. So I am very familiar with the AP program, but to be honest I am not convinced of the usefulness to students in science, I'd rather see a school offer 2-3 levels of a science then an AP course. I think the students get much more out of it that way. I work at a school now that does the iGCSE (UK curriculum) and IB exams. So I am familiar with both the US and UK curriculums. I stick by my advice above and revision can be something as simple is reviewing vocab terms, writing out notecards, making up a rhyme to help you remember a formula and can be for 15-30 minutes. Doing a little each day will help much more than sitting down and doing 5 hours in a day. Your more likely to remember it if you do it in little bits. The rhymes can be said as you are going up a flight of stairs, running, or any other common task.
  11. glad to be home, spent Tuesday night in an airport and Tuesday waiting to and finally flying home. it was maddening and frustrating!!!
  12. Keep your chin up and remember to revise (review) as you go and not to wait until the last moment and you'll thank yourself for it later. I'd also make a homework/revision timetable for evenings and weekends that way you know when you should be doing what. I know it sounds crazy but it will help in the end. Also you can change things as needed but at least you have a plan in place especially in the spring as you head toward your AP exams. JMHO Alee, they take tests and year end exams in other years but the year 11 and 13 exams are the ones which are crucial.
  13. Cap, Depends on where you live and what "normal rainfall" is. Most of the US is considered to be under drought conditions at the moment and our they say the fall food prices will be higher as a result.
  14. Hoping everyone has better results than they expect!
  15. I have noticed the same thing but I think i just made it bigger using the zoom function on my iPad. I'll have to try again tho.
  16. I know a loan move would be good for him, but honestly I'd miss him. I love Sam and now that he's playing I want to see him play for us not someone else!
  17. Hi and welcome Hope you do post more now that you have a profile.
  18. Met a family from Finland today. They moved here two weeks ago... poor things are miserable in the heat and humidity! It is 35 today but feels like 45. YUCK! The air is so think you feel like you almost need to swim!
  19. my son swears his nokia will survive the apocalypse!
  20. So glad it's over. When we were in Memphis we had to deal with violent thunderstorms and tornado warning. We hand a few go very near the house but thankfully never close enough to do damage. One summer we hand to seek shelter almost ever other evening from the storms it was crazy and I wouldn't want to wish that kind of stress on any one! Take care!
  21. Oh, no! so sad when trees get uprooted. We had that happen a lot in memphis. They had 200 year old Oak trees pulled out one year in a tornado. You just can't get those back. Hope your weather stays calm for a while.
  22. How long do they expect the weather to continue, cap? The weather here is hot and humid as usual
