My husband and I spent a summer living 700 miles (1100 km) apart when we were dating and again when we were first engaged. We saw each other once a month and only for two days. If it is meant to work it will be worth fighting for and worth the travel you'll need to do to be together. We have spent several months living in different states and countries before each of our moves. The longest was 9 months when I was finishing university and he was transferred. My son and I stayed in Massachusetts while he moved to Pennsylvania (which doesn't sound bad until you realize he was on the far west side of the state!). We survived and it has made us appreciate each other all the more. By the way, we have been together almost 21 years ( gasp, I know longer than some of you have been alive!) and happily married for 18 years.

That is because it cost so much to run a campaign. Gone are the days when a candidate stood for something or went door to door to meet the common man. It is all about advertising and how much air time you can buy. And yes a good portion of our politicians are from families of politicians… makes you wonder how far we've moved from the days of the ruling classes…. not as far as we'd like to believe.

well, yes, that was a kick in the backside for all of us! Are you back home now?

i think he'd be judged on his looks alone quite frequently, that is human nature. (Unfortunately). I am not sure his intelligence would ever be considered after they judged his appearance, most politicians have to "look the part" from what I have seen.

I think he is starting to pay the price for playing through and coming back early from injury time and time again. He's not as young as he used to be and what in his 20's he could shake of in his 30's will take longer… that is a fact of life. Soon those aches and pains will remain and become chronic (some already have … his back). Add that into to the powder keg that is his personal life and it makes him a liability for the club. Unfortunately. 6 weeks is a long time for your captain to be side lined … especially when it was supposedly a minor injury.

Our media also sensationalizes everything to the point of the ridiculous. It "glamorizes" the criminals and the victims get forgotten, they tried to do better with the incident in Sandy Hook. I still think they failed to not make it seem like a way to be come infamous…. at least to those who are already not quite sane. Does that make any sense?

Shine-Ultra (sorry, I'm not sure I know your "real" name ), It's good that you're on the board and can offer good solid advice about exercise and diet. I can only offer the little I know from raising kids and a biology degree. Thanks for the helpful advice! Kerry

Ack, I hate games like this.

Thanks! the travel has been fun and brought us closer as a family too.

No, that is fine. You don't need supplements. I am not a fan of protein powders and the like (the guys have heard my complaints). If you eat a diet that has a variety of foods then you should be to obtain all of your vitamins. Most people eat a varied enough diet either because we don't like something or because we are to hurried and grab what is convenient. How are all your diet/exercise programs coming along?

We don't exchange gifts. We started to scale back a few years ago when we realized that the kids just didn't need or really want 1/2 of what they received. Before we moved we gave them a bunch of small gifts and one big gift. However when we moved we really realized how much we had just accumulated and didn't need. So, we talked with the kids and decided as a family that we would not exchange gifts for Christmas or Birthdays because we would be able to travel around those times of the year. So we let the kids determine the destination during the holiday closest to their birthday (one is in fall and one is in the spring ) and we decided as a family where to go for Christmas and Chinese New Year. We hope to see as much of Asia and Oceania as we can before my husband's assignment is up and Nathan goes to university.

See below…. my internet connection is the pits and I rewrote it all! :lol

please don't judge all American's by the vast number of lunatics we have I agree that our gun laws are antiquated and in desperate need of an overhaul. A large portion of our population feels this way but we don't have the NRA who have millions of dollars to stand up for us. The two most recent shoots have not impacted me personal (as in I didn't lose any friends or family) but it has hit very close. One because I am a parent, two because I am a teacher, and three because my husband grew up in Webster, NY and graduated with one of the two firemen who was shot and killed. I still do not believe teachers should be armed and that our gun laws need overhauled. I applaud all nations that have strict laws and manage to implement them quickly. I wish I had an iota of confidence that my government can achieve the same type of results.

Thank you we had an amazing time! I am back home happy, well fed, and very tired! How did your trip go? Hope it was amazing!

Thank you, guys, for the wishes and the laughs! Anderson, my other option is to spend Christmas in Shanghai… I think Rome is the better option
