So, I apparently missed a whole lot but then again I usually do! I couldn't decide where to put this so for lack of a better spot I put the picture here. A friend of mine was visiting the shops near YuYuan (Yu Gardens) and when she went to use the public restroom they had timers on the doors! I forgot to ask if the were counting up or down, but either way what happens when you have used up your allotted time?? Is there a buzzer or bell? If the count up, that could be awkward... Thanks shanghai is amazing and we love it. We tell everyone, friends and family, all the time. I think I know too many people that are content to never leave their home state let alone the US!! LOL I talked with my folks on FaceTime yesterday and that helped. I will again this weekend. I am still getting them used to using their iPad! It is great they have one though because I can share pictures using photo stream and don't have to email them! I will spend almost all of July with them which will be great. Why? Homesick, well, sort of. I miss my parents. My dad is not well and I only see them once a year. Plus I am sad that we have been in China for almost two years and have only had two people visit (one was here on business so it was as if she came to see us) and the other was a former student of mine. I guess I am feeling a little jealous since my friends (who are from Europe or Australia) have people visiting all the time. My family and friends don't even pretend like they want to come, they just ask if I will drive or fly to see them when I come back to the US. As if my time means nothing and I have all the money in the world (flying within the US is expensive!) I just don't get why they expect me to wear myself out in the month I am back when they have no interest in me the other 11 months of the year. Yes, I know I sound like a petulant child, but for 2 years I have kept a smile on my face and told everyone it did not matter...well, I lied! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Much like Ollie,I didn't have a video feed. Iam in Xi'an and could not find the game on TV and there were no pubs nearby. They were showing a recap of the weekend league football on ESPN and Speed boat races on Star Sports! I am delighted we won and cannot wait to see the video highlights!! I for one am watching it very carefully since I have the precarious position of being an American in China. If this all boils over, it could be a nightmare! However, right now I think it a lot of propaganda and hype from North Korea. I am nervous about this young leader and his need to prove himself. The US unfortunately gets involved in everything and since the US were a major factor in the war and in the splitting of the two counties the US will always be a target of N. Korea. As to the US and the mis-definition of communism... I think that it was more a case of a poor implementation of the concept by the countries that attempted it that caused the misconception. The countries that called themselves communist or set out to be just didn't have a concept of how hard it would be to take a society that was based on idea of "classes" and suddenly make everyone equal or close to it.
