Pay's bloody grim though, no wonder they can't be arsed to do the job with any enthusiasm. Well Psychiatric nurses get to retire 5 years earlier than general nurses.........or at least when I qualified that was the case, not sure whether the government have changed that for new nurses. Emigration sounds like a plan though.

They can afford private pensions on what they earn. Used to be one of the bonus' of working for the NHS - the decent pension - but given their way the governement would make that a thing of the past. They've already highered the retirement age for all new nurses coming in, absolute tossers. How much do these call centre people earn btw?

I'm a psych nurse so obviously all this ranting's being noted. Its a false economy though seeing as the agency staff earn a fortune, so obviously the nursing agencies charge ridiculous sums of money to fill our staff shortfall and yet it was the government that decided redundancies were needed in the first place. So instead of having more dedicated nurses who want to do the job, we have lazy, useless agency staff only there for the money half the time. And when it comes to having someone watch your back I'd rather not rely on some part-timer tbh because the NHS, under the government's direction no doubt, do sod all to help once you've been battered. Now who's ranting?

Absolutely spot on there. If we use bank/agency staff we try to use the ones we know can/will do the job properly, you wouldnt believe some of the shite we've been sent over the years. Some of them lazy, some just downright bloody stupid and a decent command of the English language seems too much to ask as well apparently.
