Yea, I found that weird as well...like what type of message are you sending to players by telling Chalobah he's not required (and the same to Chilwell).....and then by January, you are asking Chalobah to come back and play a part in the 2nd half of the season. People moan about lack of depth yet we had Chilwell available at LB and we were watching Gusto at LB/Disasi at RB for some reason This is nothing but forcing players out.
-
Seems more like, they can't get anyone to pay a permanent fee for him, so at least loan him out and get someone else to cover the wages.
-
If the starters are doing nothing and getting to stay on the pitch till the 75th minute, would you be motivated to come on for a cameo and make a difference? This isn't like Conte's time when he would sub players off and make an example out of them. I remember a few times where he subbed players on, saw how poor they were and subbed them off again.
-
Possibly but we've heard the complete opposite from previous managers as well, Conte said RLC was the best trainer but then he'd be sitting on the bench most of the time. At some point, he will have to turn to Jorgensen as there's only so many mistakes you can accept from Sanchez.
-
We will end up with Rashford on loan somehow with Nkunku going in the other direction (basically swapping high wage players 😆) The Garnacho - Nkunku deal only works if they are both permanent transfers and I doubt United would want to commit 60-70 million on Nkunku right now....as they would have Viktor lined up for the summer.
-
If he was that much worse, Bayern wouldn't have offered to take him and pair him up with Kane. Quality is still there, he hasn't started 3+ games in a row and he doesn't seem suited to play the sub role.
-
Yea, I'm sure the other options are far worse than Sanchez, even though they haven't been given 2-3 consecutive games to prove themselves. What makes the whole thing look worse is the fact that our head of goalkeeping is Sanchez's mentor since his Brighton days...seems like other people are making the choice for Maresca in terms of GK. As for Nkunku, he was fine earlier on in the season, then he picked up an injury, couldn't really get the momentum back, Jackson kept starting and then the rumors started around late November/December that he was keen on a move elsewhere, Bayern offered him the chance to join and now he's just waiting around for the green light to move.
-
So that means we won't be playing UCL football next season. Will be interesting to see if Maresca gets the sack due to a poor 2nd half of the season.
-
Pretty sure there was a photo of Chalobah looking back at Sanchez in the previous game and someone decided to add the caption " looks like not much has changed since I left".
-
Yea, Bettinelli, the guy who hasn't played for any club since 2021.
-
or the player wanted a move to get regular game time? Pretty similar to KDB asking Mourinho to leave to get game time and develop.
-
Its funny that we've been trying to move Kepa on for the past few windows....and yet he's probably the best GK we have "on the books" (Penders looks to be a talent for the future). At least with Kepa, he's showing that he can be a useful option for other clubs. With Sanchez, he is showing exactly why Brighton were so keen to see the back of him.
-
And that's the reason why we're in a race for top 6 to 8 and our rivals are in a race for top 4 and league titles. I don't mind the club going for a younger approach throughout the squad, the problem is, we let all of our 'veterans' leave in consecutive windows.
-
But playing him on a regular basis is also "exposing his shortcoming".....and it's reaching a point where we won't be able to move him on. Similar to Sterling, not a single club actually wanted him.
-
Funny thing is, thats what a number of the Brighton fans said as soon as we signed him. They all said this guy needs reassurance from the manager and can't deal with criticism in his game. Imagine Brighton's delight when they realised we actually paid them 25 million to take a bang average 3rd choice keeper from them. Sanchez and a natural goalscorer are the 2 reasons why we're going to be finishing 6th or lower this season. People on this forum laughed when I said City/Newcastle would catch up to us as apparently they have injuries and out of form players....the biggest red flag for Maresca was the loss to Ipswich, that was one of the most pathetic displays I've seen this season.
-
And he's still the best CB we have at the club 😆 We really went from Terry, Carvalho, Cahill, T.Silva.....to relying on Fofana (made of glass) and young Colwill.
-
Without playing him for 2-3 games, there's no way of knowing that. It seems like Sanchez is undroppable because he has his old mates from Brighton making the calls behind the scenes. It doesn't help when the club's head of goalkeeping is a Brighton import as well, guessing he came over during the Potter reign. Our goalkeeper on loan (Kepa) is helping Bournemouth fight for a spot in the top 6 and Sanchez is costing us points every other game.
-
"squad building" isn't that difficult for him. Injuries are the real killer, No Rodri, Stones and Ake haven't even played 10 PL games this season. Just look at the drop off in quality we had when Fofana & James went down with injuries.
-
or perhaps they want a refund on Mount's transfer fee....and selling Garnacho to us would achieve that goal. 😆
-
Having a natural goalscorer in attack is just as important. Our defense was always going to be average as it seemed like the plan was hope James & Fofana stay fit for most of the season.... Just look at the way the top 6 is going this season, Liverpool/City/Newcastle all have players that can score a goal when needed and turn the game in their favour.
-
Disagree, in terms of talent, Yoro and Mainoo are up there. Interesting that the initial rumors were about Mainoo potentially being allowed to leave and now it's all gone quiet. It's a bit worrying when United are 'okay' with selling a youngster like Garnacho...
-
And then Maresca will face the media after the game "one mistake doesn't matter, he has saved us on 5-6 occasions...I trust him"
-
Unless Haaland/KDB are out, City have more than enough to get past us. If our wingers or striker could actually score like Hazard, we would be in with a chance. Prediction 2-1 to City. It's Teacher vs Student and Pep will want to prove a point 😆
-
Why would Amorim want Nkunku? Seems like they are all in for Viktor in the summer.
-
If a player is doing well on loan and settled, why not let him complete the season and come back fresh for pre-season? I don't remember us having to recall Courtois or Christensen when they were on development loans. Would make more sense to cancel Ugo's loan at Southampton, considering they are likely to be relegated with or without him.
