We're not going to get Martinez, Isak or Sportings striker. Osimhen would want crazy wages. That leaves, Sesko, David and Delap. We'll probably end up with Delap (he's also ex-City, ticks the box for Maresca).
-
What bothers me is that we spent money on Felix and then 6 months later he's keen to jump ship and run off to another club and we actually allow it to happen. That just sends the wrong message to any player we buy in the future.
-
We really should be beating Leicester at home, if we don't get 3 points, it means this group of players aren't ready for the top 4 battle.
-
Maresca's talent id isn't exactly great, he let Felix/Carney leave in January and now we're stuck watching KDH play conference league games. That would be a horrific transfer. Ramsdale is not an huge upgrade on our current keepers.
-
I really thought he would kick on after being the game breaker against Bournemouth in the early part of the season. Can see why United were so keen to offload him, doesn't offer a goalscoring threat most of the time.
-
Lampard just needs a few seasons of consistency, decent manager and should do well in the championship.
-
I reckon Caicedo finds a role in some of our previous sides as well, may not be the same profile as Essien back in the day but you can see why Liverpool and Arsenal were trying to get him before us. The drop off at GK and CB from previous sides is hilarious though. From the likes of Cech & JT to this current lot 😆
-
We've spent quite a bit over the years to get this team together. Cucurella, Fofana, Enzo, Caicedo, Neto, Madueke, Mudryk, Nkunku, Palmer weren't exactly cheap buys. We were on track for getting top 4 earlier in the season then we fell on a cliff and we're fighting to get 4th/5th at this rate.
-
This wouldn't surprise me at all. Southampton's manager will have 1 instruction "Mark Palmer for 90 minutes and watch them pass the ball around for no reason"
-
What does United's problems have to do with us? Amorim hasn't brought in any key signings yet, the only player they've gone for is Dorgu at LB/RB. The one thing that I like about Amorim is the fact that he is ruthless. Just look at the Rashford situation, he could have easily brought him back into the side to play one of their attacking roles but once he was frozen out, that was it. Compare that to us, we tried to kick Chalobah out of the club and then as soon as January came around, we are begging him to come back and play at CB as we have no-one else available 😆 Also, How is it that we replace Poch with Maresca and we haven't really improved at all, it's still "Palmer and hope for the best"
-
I said at the time that sinking 250+ million on Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia was a mistake. The club decided that Gallagher wasn't good enough and used him as a cash cow and then we went on to replace him with Lavia who is made of glass and Felix who is now on loan to another club 😄 Felt like alot of the early season games were being played with Poch's tactics in the background, Palmer doing his thing in attack, Jackson taking those 50-50 chances and the likes of Fofana being fit. The more Maresca has been with the side, the more we look like a possession team that doesn't know what to do when we are trailing in a game.
-
That's what happens when you get a no name manager. Mourinho/Conte/Tuchel would not have put up with rubbish keepers in goal. Seems like thats the reason why Maresca was selected, he wouldn't be able to say no to the board's decisions.
-
Even when Lavia is back, he'll play 3 games and then go missing for months
-
Other than Palmer, Caicedo and maybe Cucurella, I don't see many others kicking up a fuss over CL football.
-
The one they should be selling is that crook Lavia. What a waste, 50 million down the drain for a player that can't even stay fit for 3 games in a row. All the talent to be a class midfielder but zero fitness. We really do know how to find injury prone players, first Fofana, then Lavia, Reece from the academy, RLC from the academy 😆
-
They were concerned during the transfer window to get rid of players that Maresca didn't want and now we have no depth. Will be interesting to see how many more pathetic performances (like Brighton) it takes before the sacking rumors start heating up 😀
-
I'm honestly expecting another 3 goal loss. That Brighton performance was pathetic. All Villa have to do is put pressure on Palmer and our attack is useless.
-
This is good, if the players want Maresca to stick around, they will give it a go on the pitch. If they want to down tools, Maresca will be gone by end of the season.
-
Who does Maresca actually want though? Apparently he didn't want Felix at all, then changed his mind on KDH after spending 30 million on him to bring him here (would have gone to Spurs), gets zero production out of Nkunku, told Chalobah he isn't needed and then proceeds to bring him back from Palace and play him every other game... This guy seems like a Championship manager, no different to Lampard.
-
But don't worry, we'll get to see Sancho and Nkunku walking around the pitch doing f*ck all for the rest of the season.
-
It is more than a dry loan, it's an opportunity for him to prove himself to other European clubs with a view to permanent transfer. We're struggling in defense and we allow him to go on a dry loan in January? Good move by his agent, put your player in the transfer window and force Chelsea to make a decision in the summer, either play him or sell him.
-
Top 5 with no striker up front and zero depth. I don't see that happening unless Palmer starts scoring for fun.
-
Also Maresca masterclass 😆 'make sure to have 65 to 70% possession for no reason, keep recycling the ball like your in control of the game, even though you're down 2-0 at HT'
-
the worst part is, they came to stamford bridge earlier in the season and they were all over the place and within a few weeks, their manager has turned it around and dominated us in the cup and the premier league. Feel like Maresca is getting worse with his tactics as the season goes on. Villa will easily score 2-3 against us
-
That's the biggest issue of all though. Felix is a luxury player but he's also streets ahead of Sancho/Madueke/Neto. Felix was at least playing his part in the Conference league and could have offered Maresca a different option for the next 2 months. I mentioned it here weeks ago that Newcastle/City would get it together and opposition teams aren't stupid, they know as long as they keep Palmer quiet, our attack is useless.
