Lampard should take a hard look at himself. Playing pulisic on the right wing and Mount on the left, so our two wingers were not in their strong positions. We never controlled the game throughout the second half. How does he keep setting up Chelsea to be dominated by smaller sides?

The population growth is a serious concern. People subject themselves to religious primitivity instead of common sense. A poor Christian man will give birth to six children, a poor Muslim man will marry 4 wives and give birth to 20 children and that means definitely the children will be sent to beg on the streets. It is inevitable that the country will explode when the population gets saturated. The natural Resources cant go round everyone.

For those not aware, there have been major protests in Nigeria calling for the abolition of a controversial police unit called SARS, short for the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. It was formed back in the 80s to tackle armed robbery in urban areas targeting banks and convoys... However in recent years it has devolved into a rogue unit that extorts innocent civilians on the road, and it has been linked with many extra-judicial detentions and killings. They specifically target young people based on spurious reasons (hairstyle, dress, car being driven), wrongly labeling many as fraudsters. So in recent days there have been numerous peaceful protests across different cities in Nigeria calling for their abolishment, at levels not seen since the early 90s. The government have a strangle hold on the major TV stations so they initially refused to cover the protests, hence the youths have deliberately paralyzed several choke points in different states in the country, in order to force attention to the issue. In addition, the youth led protests have been given attention by Afrobeats musicians and celebrities who now have more of a following outside the country. The government initially acquiesced to the demands by declaring the end of the unit, but then created another unit called "SWAT". There are concerns that such declarations are just changing the name of "SARS" to "SWAT". As of today, the protests continue within and outside the country. Very interesting to see whether the protests evolve to a more strategic wield of power by the youth against many of the issues plaguing Nigeria, or they fizzle out. Hoping for the former. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/10/13/africa/nigeria-police-sars-victims-intl/index.html

Yes it is not the only issue, but it is good to see youths come out together and protest for a cause finally. Politicians have taken advantage of the differences in Ethnicity and Religion in the country for so long. Anytime you want to stand for a cause, these politicians sponsor and bribe the leaders to put disunity and eventually stop any form of protest against them. Southern people trying to protest against the poor leadership from the Northern politicians will be shut down because someone will accuse you of fighting against his tribe in power (even though the Northern masses have suffered deaths brought by bokoharam and poor leadership from the military who all come from the North) To see everyone unite regardless of tribe is wonderful to see and I hope the #ENDSARS campaign can come successfully. Let the youth know the benefits of uniting against these politicians for a cause.

Yeah I think our defending has been better this season. Lamps and Barry have worked on that.
-
Lamps may have experienced it as a player but not putting a stop to it all through 50-60 games last season meant he didn't know how to properly do it imo. I mean how can he know how to solve a serious problem and not do it? Getting an extra staff was wise from him. Agree to disagree.
-
But we were terrible against counterattack teams like palace all through last season and Lampard never fixed that. We even had a loss to west ham late in the season through two very annoying counterattacks. Seeing tactical fouling which I never saw before Barry became a coaching staff must mean something surely. The set pieces part maybe we have to wait for a longer time but I feel somewhat safer now compared to last season where every set piece against us felt like a penalty.
-
Thiago Silva's game vs Crystal palace by numbers 107 Accurate passes 96% pass success 120 touches 1 chance created 1 keypass 3 accurate long balls 1 tackle succeeded 2 interceptions 4 clearences 5 recoveries
-
It would be lovely once he settles on the back 4. Every top team in Europe can name their starting back four instantly. You're right about the Mendy French, didnt think about that. That will only improve the chemistry and understanding. But I saw on instagram that Thiago silva is also trying hard to learn English too.
-
Thats why we've scored more with his introduction in the second half against westbrom and four goals against palace. Width is important
-
I'm happy with Anthony Barrys introduction, i can see signs of our improvements in defending. Tactical fouls to prevent counters, set piece defending, etc. The only thing is that the improved defense has come to the detriment of our attack, which looks stale compared to the beginning of last season. But once Pulisic and Ziyech come back and play a few games together with Havertz, I know the attacking fluidity will instantly improve because lampards system in attack largely depends on the quality of players and their form on the day. Its not a practiced system like Leeds who Bielsa grills to play a certain pattern no matter who is in the lineup.
-
Hopefully we manage to overcome a pressing team. All he needs is to be releasing the ball quicker and switching it to the wings.
-
Now maintain that back four. Stop rotating, let them get to know themselves better. I like that we are making more tactical fouls when we lose the ball. No need to allow a counter fester when you can stop it early at source immediately. Now put Werner back in his position and Pulisic on the left with Havertz in the middle and Odoi on the right and we have a very dynamic team in attack.
-
Wow his best performance in a year for us. He was switching play to the wings and playing a lot of forward passes. Where has this Jorginho been all this while??
-
He's being played out of position but he was poor today. Hope he is shifted back to the centre as Pulisic is back
-
Its been fantastic to see. That's the way to stop all these teams that only play on the counter. Our defending this season has actually improved, if you put some context to the goals weve conceded, you'll see they were all individual mistakes. The only goal we've conceded this season that was a well worked goal was Mane's first goal against us for Liverpool.
-
He's sticking with Jorginho so expect Sarriball. I actually think our defending has improved but our attacking has become worse
-
Maybe I got my numbering wrong, but when I said he's a No. 6, I meant Mount is a box to box midfielder. Not defensive sitting midfielder. Taking mount deeper away from the goal will not weaken his game, I think it plays to his strengths. He does not have a keen eye for a defense splitting pass, so why should he play in Havertz position when we have better? And even against Westbrom he was almost man of the match because of his second half performance when Kovacic was removed and Mount had to play the box to box role beside Kante. That is Mounts true position imo. Yes Mourinho's tactics played a big part in our lack of spaces. But if we played the right players in their right positions we could have overcome that. Do not underestimate the importance of intelligent players who know how to find spaces between the lines. They positionally disrupt defences with their passing and positional sense. The problem of Kovacic and his lack of forward progression I have spoken about it before here and I think Mount should take his position on the team. Theres no point of having all the dribbling if you cant use it to progress the team up the pitch. Mount at least can make things happen when he's deeper while I cant say the same about Kovacic.
-
Honestly if we dont get Rice, I wouldnt be against giving Reece a try in midfield. He has the calmness, is strong, can tackle and take long range shots. His traits are much better suited to the midfield role.
-
I actually think mount would be good in the No. 6. He is a runner, tackler, energetic and a lot of midfielders have had his traits and gone on to become great footballers. But he's not a no. 10 and Lampard has to realize this sooner.
