Everyone is complaining about our style of play in our first two games, but we are forgetting that Jorginho started both. He is a big influence on the way we play anytime he's on the pitch. We can never hope to play quick, fast paced football due to him "controlling the game", slow slow football, Werner will be wasted with no one quickly getting the ball to him since we have to build slowly with Jorginho. I complained about this last season too on why Gilmour is far better for Lampard's system than Jorginho. And this labored attacking football is part of it. Play Kante and Kova in a double pivot and suddenly we have a dynamic pair and more speed to our game.

Fantastic, plays with energy, exactly the way a potential worldclass fullback does.

I like the look of this lineup and hope we play this. Extra protection at the back, Havertz can have a free role to roam around and create chances, Giroud can be a target man to win long balls and flick it to teammates and Werner can play a little wide and make runs into space. Hopefully, Lamps trains these boys on quick one touch pass and movements so that we are fluid.

Was just about to say this, James is quality. Hopefully Kai can play to that level even if hes on the wing. Hopefully Lampard can find good tactical positions for him like Ancelotti.

You just explained my mind perfectly. Robertson is a great fullback just for how energetic he runs on the pitch. While Emerson was a disaster because he refused to run or assert himself in matches. James should make a lot more runs in behind, show some energy and he'll be one of the best in the league immediately. James with his calmness actually seems to me like a midfielder sometimes instead of a fullback.

He just has this lack of Urgency about him that I don't like. Just like RLC, no energy. Fullbacks should be energetic, that's the strongest quality for a fullback.

Glad we didn't sign him for 100mil. The pressure he would have been under would be unreal. Average performance, but he'll get there. Once the more creative player Ziyech comes back, he can concentrate on making runs in behind for Ziyech to find him. He is usually good at making runs off the ball.

I was thinking the same thing. The difference between him and Lamptey was clear. But nice goal and assist from him.

Proper mentality

I was hoping to see tactical improvements from Lampards team but I was disappointed. It's just the first match but the same problems of last season: poor defending, deft of ideas in attack, no cohesion in midfield and inconsistent pressing/allowing Brighton to control the game without putting them under pressure. He has to do better honestly.

We have a player here. Said it before that I feel he'll shine the most out of our new signings and I was not disappointed. Seeing his desire, energy and effort on the pitch was a breath of fresh air.....

If Lampard can somehow convert Mount to a deeper player I would be happy. Because I feel he'll be much better coming from deep. Hope Werner has a big game today.

Just watch Allan for Everton today against Spurs. A proper Defensive midfielders performance with the one touch passing and awareness to match.

But they don't see that it is the high pressing tactics of Bielsa that did all that. Just the way Bayern in the Champions League made defences look amateur, it's the same high pressing tactics of Leeds. Leeds with that style can beat any top team in the league easily. I hope Lampard can implement that style of play, just like he tried to do at the beginning of last season before abandoning it later. High-pressing with quick passers and off the ball runners is a dominant style of football we should emulate.
