He just has this lack of Urgency about him that I don't like. Just like RLC, no energy. Fullbacks should be energetic, that's the strongest quality for a fullback.

Glad we didn't sign him for 100mil. The pressure he would have been under would be unreal. Average performance, but he'll get there. Once the more creative player Ziyech comes back, he can concentrate on making runs in behind for Ziyech to find him. He is usually good at making runs off the ball.

I was thinking the same thing. The difference between him and Lamptey was clear. But nice goal and assist from him.

Proper mentality

I was hoping to see tactical improvements from Lampards team but I was disappointed. It's just the first match but the same problems of last season: poor defending, deft of ideas in attack, no cohesion in midfield and inconsistent pressing/allowing Brighton to control the game without putting them under pressure. He has to do better honestly.

We have a player here. Said it before that I feel he'll shine the most out of our new signings and I was not disappointed. Seeing his desire, energy and effort on the pitch was a breath of fresh air.....

If Lampard can somehow convert Mount to a deeper player I would be happy. Because I feel he'll be much better coming from deep. Hope Werner has a big game today.

I saw a lot of people saying Liverpool were very poor defensively against Leeds and Chelsea will have a field day against them next week. But they don't see that it is the high pressing tactics of Bielsa that did all that. Just the way Bayern in the Champions League made defences look amateur, it's the same high pressing tactics of Leeds. Leeds with that style can beat any top team in the league easily. I hope Lampard can implement that style of play, just like he tried to do at the beginning of last season before abandoning it later. High-pressing with quick passers and off the ball runners is a dominant style of football we should emulate.

I just don't like short goalies in general. I know there was a season when Cudicini was one of the best in the league. But I just am never comfortable with short Keepers no matter what.

Maybe Cech is like me and doesn't want to see a short goalkeeper at Chelsea. Hilario, Cudicini, I never felt comfortable with them.

Peter Cech is personally pushing for Mendy. From the stats he can make some saves and is one of the best in the world at claiming crosses, which was one of our biggest issues last season. Our team are not just going out there to sign the coolest goalkeeper, they're looking at our weaknesses and trying to fix them at the cheapest price possible. Good on them.

CHO isn't bad to be honest. But I had hoped we wouldn't see mount or RLC on the wings again. That is looking very likely now

What is going on with his injury update? does anyone have any information or are we starting the season with mount, RLC and CHO as our wingers?

Hopefully we work out a scenario where Havertz plays behind werner but making runs into the box occasionally so that the strike position will be occupied by him when werner slips to the left and pulisic comes centrally. Something like this Werner - Havertz - Ziyech Pulisic This kind of scenerio should be happening occasionally during the match
