Jose has certainly opened a hornets nest, and it is a premeditated remark, he knows what he is doing. Bottom line is teams win you titles. It has very little to do with the fans/atmosphere. Jose has moulded together the makings of his next great side but unfortunately at the Bridge outside of the big games, nobody is going to get excited about watching us have stacks of possession trying to break down two walls of five men the majority of the time.

Hard to think of any Prem League teams whose atmos is rocking at home games. Stoke come close, but we can narrow it down to specifics; Lack of safe standing, too expensive tickets, abundance of mongs. By far the biggest factor is the legacy of legislation passed after Hillsboro. As far as CL games go there is always a general lethargy at Stamford Bridge for the group games, its not until the knockout rounds that it picks up.
-
The fans away at Haribo will be stood up, majority will have had some beers, and be audible to TV audiences
-
Reducing the price of tickets so that the excluded can return is paramount - and the ludicrous policy of targeting people who stand at games has to be ended and the only way to do it in this day and age is to have the safe standing.
-
Villa fan said to me at their place ''youre only so noisy because youre all stood up''. Its the same with all away fans , most stand up. Though if you go to a League 1 and below, as I am sure youre aware, or even in the Championship a large proportion of the Home fans are always standing. It all changed after Hillsboro and the Taylor report, but Mourinho has a point, it does need to be addressed
-
Will post his reply if/when he comes back. One way to alleviate the problem would be to put the away fans back in the east lower, fuck it, east upper.
-
Would add... No pyro... No standing... Have to book your tickets a month in advance and sit miles away from your mates... Not allowed to swear... Not allowed to drink in the stand... The exact opposite of every stadium in world football where the atmosphere is quality... On the positive, the very fact that the club has to look at this now because the one man who can make people take notice, Jose, has raised it.

JT probably just ensured his contract doesnt get renewed by getting involved

Fan reaches out to JT re Joses comments joecfcdavies Hi JT, I thought I would write to you because I feel you're someone in the club who would understand, because you're a fan like us and many of us believe something needs to be done. As much as we all love Jose, his comments yesterday was not called for and was completely bang out of order for people who pay ridiculous prices each week to watch Chelsea. Here lies the first issue, pricing. It has become so expensive following football now that many proper fans are being priced out of going to Stamford bridge and being replaced by tourists who of course won't be singing or making noise. Another one problem is the stewarding, the problem is as soon as people try to stand up and make an atmosphere (you're obviously not gonna have atmosphere sitting down) we get threatened with ejection if we don't sit down so no one wants to make an atmosphere now in fear of getting chucked out. Another problem is the away fans in the famous shed end. If the away fans were in the west upper or East upper then they wouldn't be heard as much as we have a bigger platform to make noise. There are many solutions to the atmosphere problem like singing sections, safe standing, cheaper tickets but the club has done nothing. As you know John our away support is brilliant, because we are standing all game, not being threatened to be kicked out and tickets are generally cheaper. The whole point i am trying to get across is ths all well and good Jose slagging off our support but will he actually do anything about it? because down thing needs to be done rather than just slagging off people who pay loads of money to be told to sit down or face ejection from the stadium. Sorry to bother you JT but as our greatest ever player and a fan yourself, I feel you have influence and understand what we are feeling. Regards, Joe. johnterry.26 Joe I'm just about to go and train but will contact you after training today. Please send your number. JT. Mr. Davies' points are well made. Chelsea's home support is widely considered poor, but the away fans are magnificent, and the problem, therefore, cannot be solely, or even mostly, down to the fans themselves. Blues fans have long complained about the stewarding at home, and as Mr. Davies says, being threatened with ejection for standing up and making noise is a good way to ensure that there is no noise. The real story here, of course, is that the captain is willing to get involved. John Terry has won three Premier Leagues and the European Cup, but is still responsive enough to fans to get involved in this sort of issue. It's fantastic that Terry's still close enough to the community to recognise that this is an issue to be taken seriously and talked about. I'm sure Mr. Davies isn't the only fan who's reached out to Chelsea, but good work in talking to the captain. He's just the kind of ally supporters need here. I have no idea what happens next, but I imagine that both captain and manager will be all aboard the 'increased support' train, and I hope that some of Chelsea's policies are re-evaluated. If Jose's words spark real change, then I think we can all agree that they're for the best, regardless of the slightly tone-deaf way in which they were delivered.

Two points, remember this is Mourinho 1) it's taken all the press attention away from the pretty poor performance, which is probably why he went public. 2) he's set himself up nicely for his next press conference Friday to say something like 'it's easy for the team to play away, our away support is the best in the country' - and we just so happen to be going to anfield. Mind games. He's trying to help the team, whilst giving the bridge a much needed kick up the arse. (Yes there are many reasons why etc) but he's the one man at the club who can say something like this and everyone will listen

Yeah was fuming at that as have at countless decisionss over the years. By the same token I admit to being sneakily happy when Carvalho impeded the keeper against Barca allowing JT to score the winner unseen by the ref. Swings and roundabouts. What youre advocating, if we're talking about corners for example, would result in a contact free set piece. Players would be reluctant to put in the slightest challenge for fear of retrospective retribution in terms of trial by cctv. On the other hand corners are ridiculous atm, every one should result in about four penalties
-
No booze on sale in away end tomorrow, so they'll have to stick to sniffing glue.
-
It would be good to cut out diving possibly, but it could also be the thin end of the wedge. The next logical step would be everything monitored, as with cctv in society at large. Eventually every nudge off the ball, every infringement, would be eradicated. Corners for instance would be transformed into a near enough contact less sport. It aint broke so dont fix it . I am sure the Dutch have good intentions but let them stick to what they do best, total football, soft drugs and hardcore pornography.

Phil Brown on R5. "It shows how much chelsea were panicing, having to bring on Eden Hazard and Nemanja Vidic" What a spacker.
-
Well done to all that travelled to shrewsbury on a very wet Tuesday night

Probably all our lot were joining in, and the shrews would have been chucking abuse our way for 90 mins.

We sing that at almost every away game

Which Players Do You Regret Chelsea Selling?

Zola had decided to go before Abramovich arrived, family, napoli, cosa nostra etc and no amount of pleading and contract negotiating would change his mind. Big regret he was sold though ... -

Pops up on R5 now and again saying where clubs have gone wrong. Was, and still is as far as I know, a Liverpool season ticket holder, and was part of the Hicks Gillete popular front. Still hes not replacing Gourlay so hopefully steers clear of the football side of things. -
Impressive English 17 year old made his senior debut coming on for Oscar in the Champions League against Maribor. Having scored 18 times for the academy last season a similar proliferation of goals in the seniors would be most welcome, -providing he gets enough playing time in the next few seasons. Loan deal is the norm though....
