  1. Yup thats one point of view, and I subscribe to it. However, theres no prescriptive point of view that has to be taken on it. Sometimes its good to stand back a bit, and see top flight football for what it is- a big business corporate profit whore fest, instead of trying to compete with other fans over who wears the biggest heart on their sleeve.
  2. Thats right, the sooner people realise this the better. Lampards goal was the Dennis Law moment, when he backheeled into the net for City to send United down, a club where hed been a legend for years. Fans invest time, travel and money, and varying degrees of emotional attachment into what the owners, players and agents see as little more than corporate brands. For that reason I dont begrudge any fan calling players cunts, booing, -they have earned the right to be as critical as they want. I just cant get that worked up about it, as generally the clubs give scant regard to the fans, now they take the TV revenue for granted. On the positive, theres a really good vibe with Chelsea atm, optimism, great manager, board seeing sense, beast up front- similar vibe in and around the Bridge to 2004-5. Yesterday was just a little soap opera moment in the CFC saga. There will be others.
  3. He has a fantastic history at Chelsea, but he was an employee of the club, bottom line. His services were no longer required, and another employer acquired his services. Get over the jilted manlove. Its a money driven sport, forget all the badge kissing, 99% of it is bollocks
  4. Manuel, what a bitter old cunt. Instead of slating us for playing 'like a small club' he should be congratulating Jose for doing his homework. Man City wouldnt have a title race on their hands if they had Jose or another quality manager, instead they have a mediocre Chilean, with a 1972 haircut who looks as though he should be haunting old castles.
  5. Letting Lampard go can no way be blamed for us not winning the league this year... If we dont go on and do it. Our squad is incredibly strong and more than capable. Itll be down to the players not making stupid mistakes like not tracking James Milner that'll cost us. These are things we can sort out thankfully. The rest is all in place.. even without Super Frank in the ranks, we've got goals, creativity and mettle. Just need to sand a few rough edges out mainly at the back.
  6. Agree with that, but Mourinho this morning said Costa wont start.
  7. Yeah fuck this analytical "clever', oooh look at me type posts. Dumbing down from now on, a cheap pun, or just 'Rooney is a cunt' type posts is the way forward
  8. We could afford the draw tonight, Drogba needed the minutes, long old season ahead.
  9. Plenty of life left in the old Drog yet, hes only played 70 mins ffs!
  10. Thought he did a decent job myself, probably more than any of last season's would have offered. It was tough asking him to start up there on his own with lack of match fitness etc. and completely new style to adapt to. Would personally have either started him alongside Remy or brought him on with 20/25 mins to go
  11. Having our morals brought into question, by a man on the Murdoch payroll, is laughable. From all the evidence over the years, at a stretch the ethics of how Roman made his money can be questioned, but there's nothing to suggest that he ever broke the law. Is it football fans' place to get involved in moral soul-searching about their club's owner when they don't know the facts and ultimately can do fuck all about it anyway? Syed seems to think it is, which is up to him, but if he thinks that's the case yet strangely it's not his place to question his paymaster's various indiscretions, then he's a hypocrite and needs to get off his high horse.
  12. Brilliant at holding when 1-0 up with 70 mins left, but not someone to be a game changer when we're 2-0 down. Integral to Joses methodology.
  13. Did they have two minutes silence for Gerrards retirement from England ?
  14. TV and internet streams coupled with aggressive marketing is what all top clubs do, but success on the pitch is paramount, otherwise profits plummet as has been happening with Man Utd. Fans want to be associated with winners.
  15. Just read Paul Scholes article regarding the Champions League. 'Liverpool have a great chance to win the Champions league because of the crowd, European nights at Anfield are special' Incidentally he's a pundit on ITV tonight. Sickening. Gooners v Dortmund for me
  16. Arsenal fans. Good God they are mental https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154555241620497&id=664605496&refsrc=http%3A%2F%2Frivalsfootball.net%2Fchelsea%2Findex.php&_rdr
  17. Hes bigger than I thought, and an upgrade on that chap we packed off to Milan. Think he feels he got something to prove after the shambles at Anfield, and lets see him score against them
  18. Torres took 52 games to score 7 goals. Puts it in perspective.
  19. Liverpool, lovely way to round off a great day, and Sp*rs with an own goal....superb
  20. Ivanovich is chelseas best player. Der, der, der, der, der, der, Super bran. http://blog.paddypower.com/2014/09/09/super-bran-why-ivanovic-is-chelseas-most-important-player/?AFF_ID=16562
