  1. When I see the first half selection. Toon many players that are perhaps too much direct and not goot at holding the ball. Moses, De Bruyne, Schurrle, Torres. Moses, De Bruyne Schurrle besides that don't seem to me players that are good at closing passing lanes, wich is a problem against team that plays the passing game between the lines. They are more attracted to the players having the ball without much thinking what is going behind them.
  2. I hope we sign Rooney and play Oscar behind him. Oscar, Hazard, Rooney are all very good at little triangle play, little lay-offs to a running player. For me they could have excellent understanding. Mata on the right against the majority of the average, not great opponents will be have a lot of space by the fact those three could draw a lot of defenders.
  3. Lukaku has never been good to help the midfielders behind him. And he's the worst defender of the squad.
  4. On Benteke, he has his body angle wrong. It's ok to show the wide area but it's better tu push the opponent. The difference between a good and an average defender is that the good one impose his will and push the forward where he wants him to be. Cahill show maybe an area but doesn't push him there and is too flat footed. Against Benteke, it's ridiculous how he was left for dead by a simple crochet. And on Marcelo, he is on the backfoot. He is on the backfoot for no reason. Ok you can give you some space to not be beaten by the first touch but here it was way too much and he didn't reduce the space between him and the player by moving towards him and no need to dive to do that. Just making small steps, being quite light on the feet to change direction if needed.
  5. The biggest problem we have in midfield, it's that nearly all our players are not great moving the ball to their weak foot when needed to make space for themself. I noticed that on many instances, a quick turn to their weak foot would have enable us to keep the ball moving and giving them more time to escape the pressing and finding a passing solution in the less crowded zone.
  6. Don't forget the portugues Tiago that was no slouch either.
  7. It would be hilarious to see Manchester United doing the usual Everton early season form they had under Moyes By the end of october, they would already be out of contention for the premier league title.
  8. I understand. Especially against the asian teams, he wasn't really serious and with the heavy legs after training, he was bad, overdribbling, trying flicks without much focus. Against Real, with our difficulty in midfield and in the last 3-4 months of last season, when he was carrying the ball from deeper, eliminating some midfield players, it permitted us to keep the ball and letting some player run and take position in the final third of the opposition. The opponents having to back-off on some of their pressure on our last third. Again Spurs last year, when he was substituted, we had more difficulties moving the ball in the spurs half. What I don't like is his finishing, I don't understand why he doesn't use tricks to fool the keeper, use chip-in, it's so in contrast with the rest of his game. I think he must have take too litterally some advices he had to keep it simple or don't think and shoot powerfully (like some belgians coaches would say).
  9. For me he should have chip to the far corner. The second one, there was two real defenders coming back very quicky.
  10. He's not CR7 or Gareth Bale. CR7 is a bigger athlete, can head into the box easily with his height, not easy to lean on his shoulder. He should improve his finishing, trying more finesse, chip and not be afraid that sometimes it won't work and look ridiculous. He should perhaps do it more but what you say has not only weak points. Beside we have Schurrle, Moses who can do that. Doing that, Ramires, Schurrle, Moses or Cole can run into spaces that defenders closing leave. Like Debruyne cross to Ivanovic against Inter.
  11. Especially with Ivanovic behind him. At least with Azpi he can come inside more.
  12. Makelele was already world class in Madrid. And for the defence improvement under Benitez, the system changed a lot. It was a mix of zonal for cutting passing angles, pressing to close space on some zone (trap zone) that could enable quick counter-attacks. With this system, the defenders could be more agressive on some zones which suits David Luiz who is very good on one on one defending and interceptions. Azpilicueta as the right back was also important as he could press higher the pitch and is difficult to beat definately while players were running past Ivanovic easily, when they were in front, there were no chance he could come back. With Ivanovic, Terry and Cahill in the defence, it's asking for trouble as they are not very good on one on one, all prefers to drop back wich is not good if you want the midfield pushing.
  13. On De Bruyne and Moses, They are great to play direct football and can help defensively against team thant don't really play that good in midfield, in short defending against one opponent but in positional sense working as a midfield team where everyone has a role, they need some work as they never really played in a team like that. Moses a little bit with Benitez but his defending was not that great, good efforts but bad timing and wrong position with the rest of the team. When he was coming as a substitute in the last maches under Benitez, he didn't really help defensively, he looked often lost. Otherwise, I don't understand why Eden don't chip the ball, it's like he doesn't wanna do it since he hit Reina's head in a match at Liverpool. Trying between the legs is not a good idea.
  14. Death row is wrong because Justice can go wrong. But in itself, it could be not that cruel. Like a bigger anesthesia where you don't wake up.
  15. Ok. Too bad that Benitez was not liked. With some improvements (a striker, one or two midfielders and some loanees back), we would have already a good build-up of the team. The last 3-4 months of the season, we played quite good, had some good patterns while playing with a very small squad and playing every two-three days. I liked also the physical work he had done to have more dynamic players on the pitch. He had done a very good job with Luiz and Hazard. Ramires and Azpilicueta doing good to protect the right side.
  16. OMG. The way they were going on our right side so easily is Cahill, what was he doing, Close Marcelo and push him outside instead of staying on the backfoot.
  17. Ivanovic Cahill Terry in the defensive line-up has never worked. Last year, the worst performances were with them. Ivanovic is not a right back, he can't press higher the opponent like Azpilicueta, Cahill Terry is the worst cb partnership as they drop too deep. Luiz Cahill or Luiz Ivanovic are better as they can play a higher line closer to the midfield.
  18. Shit, Mata will probably not play against Roma. I don't know if David Luiz and Mata will be back for Roma, they have some small problems, Mata a new one and David Luiz a problem he had in the past, a muscular injury he had before the Champions League final,' said Mourinho. 'They are working with the physios in Washington instead of travelling here. We'll see if they can join the team and play a little against Roma.' I'm starting to believe the rumours that Mourinho don't really want them.
  19. What is not reassuring is that it seems all the players that are in transfers rumours seems "injured". Rooney, Bale, Luiz.
  20. In the confederation cup, Oscar did quite good defensively even if he and the team was fouling quite hard when an opponent were going to ghost them. But except one match, he didn't really stamp his authority on the game like he was doing in the olympics and other matches where he was brilliant as the conductor of the team. Besides that, I may be a little biased as I'm not really a Mourinho fan. He did a great great job at Inter with two of my favorite players Zanetti and Cambiasso in the team. Inter players were the right players for the Mourinho philosophy. I really didn't see his first year at Chelsea. His second year at Chelsea, Chelsea were solid but I wasn't really a fan of the way the team played. I remember seeing a lot of matches where Chelsea were sitting very deep, letting the other team crossing a lot. It worked but the english team were not really great at the offensive game, we were happy collecting the crosses with our very narrow defense and picking them on the counter. With the pre-season game, I don't think there is a big change in how Jose wants his teams to play, nearly all our goals have come from a quick transition, not many great intricate passing and possession play even against poor teams. As Barbara has said, we have much more depth in our squad than last year. But I'm not sure we really have many Mourinho players.
  21. Maybe the Mata Luiz rumors were true. I really think that Mata Oscar Hazard will struggle this season as Mourinho is at first a counter-attack coach. Mata Oscar are better in a possession based game. If we play Terry, the central defence will stay deep. At Real, even if he had a good numbers of points in la liga, Real were much better at counter-attack than possession. With the quality they had, I thought they should have destroyed Manchester United. Terry Cahill were praised because of all the blocks against Ac Milan but We shouldn't have to block that many shots against AC Milan and expecting the same against Real.
