Given he is valued under 40m by KPMG and most other reputable sources, we are paying a 100%+ premium on top of market value. I get Leicesters point and I respect their brinksmanship but honestly I would probably have taken the prior 70m bid already if I were them. Fofana is an alright player but I do not see the world class potential after his injury. I am not convinced he has recovered his pace, he looks small and he simply is not as assured on the ball as he should be for that money. finally, I hope I am wrong, tbh I am excited about finding a long term solution for that RCB spot. In fact, other than all those horrific options (e.g. Ake, Kounde, Maguire -.-) we explored this summer he is one of the preferable ones. I would just not have advised the club to drop that much dough on a player who still looks sus to me.

Maybe we can let him fail his medical, his value is slashed in half and we sign him in winter for cheap. Not gonna happen ofc no club would want to deal with us afterwards but would serve Leicester just right. Their valuation for a player who just returned from a career threatening injury is absurd. Almost as absurd is us wanting to pay that

can’t remember ever having seen a cb win so many tackles high up the pitch. He killed so man t Leicester counter attacks on his own. He won 4 tackles in the opening 15 mins alone. Unreal player
-
I think we will go for him next year. Make a pre agreement maybe. His contract runs out in 24. If we turn his head we might stand a chance but Milan have an insanely good record of maintaining their key men despite their grandpa league
-
We had tons of chances to sign mitrovic in the past. The moment is gone nice old fashioned siege tower cf tho. Also presses as seen today. But he signed a new 5 year deal exactly a year ago. No chance unless they go down
-
I like how they looked at Arsenals handball from an angle where the handball was not even on display and then ruled the goal legit
-
You can see the ability is there but he still is not ready mentally it seems. Either ease him back in vs weaker opposition or loan him out
-
His injury broke him. Honestly always rated Saka higher TT is not someone to develop talent. But absolute world class talent will break through anyway most of the time. Guys like RJ would make it anywhere under any manager provided they stay i jury free. We are not a development club anyway. Either the academy or the scouts hand us players of RJ’s or at least Mounts talent or we buy ready made stars . but I was not even talking about talent but a coherent attacking gameplay being executed. It just can take ages to build. I think playing so few attacking players is not helping however it is too early to throw in the towel
-
We spent 200m but it did not get us 200m of talent. Would take salah and martinelli over half of our attackers any day
-
Have to hail the teams character today. I thought it would be another one of those days when Conor got sent off but we turned things around and earned our luck. We have been so unlucky for weeks including today so more than deserved fortune to swing back for once.
-
Tuchel has been getting a lot of stick for not having any of our attackers perform and having us play somewhat ok looking attacking football. Arteta however has been at Arsenal much longer and this is the first season under him they look like they know what they are doing in attack
-
Started really well but such a shame with the red card. that is 90% on cucurella tho, who has been poor all game. Cant wait for Chilwell to come back properly. Ofc no luck in front of goal as always. still not seen where havertz was offside for the pen Would take jogrinho off. even a half fit kovacic can run more than a fully fit jorginho
-
That’s exactly why I am optimistic. Big enough enough for our players to give a shit and still weak enough to not be beyond our means.
-
Mostly short travels and piss easy fixtures should be straightforward enough most importantly we get to have a better look on Tomori, leao, sesko
-
would be just like us to win vs citeh, go on to the final after tons of hardship in the damn semis only to lose vs liverpool in the final on pens again.
-
Even if Antony does not flop he needs to score 15+ goals in his first season not to be labelled a flop for that money apparently manure are in for Tammy as well now that Roma signed belotti alternatives for them are morata and osimhen (!)
-
Tapsoba is alright but a little slow. Would pro a alt cost a bomb cos of ages on his contract If we go to Bundesliga for a defender which historically has worked better than buying strikers there we should just take Ndicka. He is better than Tapsoba and would cost a third of him
-
The Anthony Gordon transfer is bizarre from whatever angle you look at it. ofc he is not worth 60m for his current output of 4g 2a. Someone apparently sees huge future value in him. At the moment he is like Kenedy at Newcastle 3 years back. An average player sticking up for a poor side. i don’t buy the argument he will be rwb wh n rj plays Rcb. Buying someone average for 60m so your best player can play out of position… yeah right about maguire even if he wasn’t a walking meme, he is 29 years old ffs and not worth paying crazy money for him whichever way this summer ends we will be extremely frustrating to follow all year that for sure

tbf Baba was a one season wonder and everybody who watched bundesliga that season could see that cos he was game-raising. he had anonymous stinkers vs most of the poor sides and only played out of his skin vs the big guns when he knew the socuts were watching. after he got his big money move to us he never really turned up again his entire career. was another example of poor scouting and transfer decision making. i was raging back then when we signed him just after getting rid of felipe luis and ryan bertrand. Gordon just like baba costs as much bc the teams they played for value them higher than what would represent fair value under normal conditions. On top of that Gordon also has the English tax. Plus teams know they can pull our pants down atm so they do. There can be no reasonable argument over whether the dude is worth it or not.

Also what is going on with Fofana's height? He is listed as 1,90 almost everywhere but looks clearly shorter than 1,88 Jonny evans in their pictures. Granted he was under 20 when the picture was taken so may still have grown a bit but hardly 5cm. Probably a case of height inflation to push transfer value... From personal experience, whenever you meet a footballer he is at least 2cm shorter than listed.

tbf i can somehow understand leicester demanding a record fee for fofana. They bought him for 35m, he made the step up to PL reasonably well and has an eternity left on his contract. I would demand crazy money for the guy as well, they owuld be stupid not, no matter who comes in for him. Gordon is obviously not worth 50m or more. He is like the same level CHO was on back in 19 and we rejected 50m euros for him from Bayern. But he is the only glimmer of hope for Everton. If they sell him, they lose all credibility in their project, piss of staff and fans.

Fofana will not be signed till after our game vs Leicester. Auba could be confirmed this week I wager.
-
Yesterday showed his limitations in attack. He's great energy and defensive prowess but he had two open shots and failed miserably. Prime Chilwell puts one of them away.
-
same could be said about ManUre tho McTominay is still a poor mans Matic who is already poor Varane's defensive repertoire is thinning like his hair, his pace looks gone. Same goes for Eriksen Penandes was a one season wonder Elanga, Rashford, Sancho are alright players but their hype has caught up with them. Just two clubs in decline

how TAA has not been sent off yet is beyond me
