  1. What a league debut for us. Clean sheet, goal and an assist. He was generally brilliant all game. We all want the best, but I hope he proves around 90% of this forum wrong because the amount of fans who were against this deal on the forum was probably around that percentage. I was actually astonished to see all the backlash he got. That performance summed up everything we have been missing from a LB.
  2. Honestly, I know he said he wants to fight for his place, but for him personally, I think he should have looked to move. The coronavirus was a body blow for him, as if it wasn't for the pandemic, he would have been starting for France 100%. Because he was always going to be behind in the pecking order and Abraham is getting the nod ahead of him when Werner is out wide and you imagine when likes of Pulisic and Ziyech are fully fit, wouldnt be surprise to see him fully left out the squad. Good option for us to have obviously, however as mentioned surprised he was not looking to move on this season. At his age, you just want to be playing and if he makes Euro squad next year, that will be his last international tournament most likely.
  3. I don't see Havertz playing CM for us, hence why I did not include him. RLC too, I see him advanced. But Barkley can play in a 2 man midfield and has done this very well. Yeah, maybe the goalscoring threat was exaggerated, however that goal for example he scored against Liverpool in the FA Cup last season, he is capable of doing that as he has that drive to run wtih the ball and unleash a powerful shot, which none of our other CM have.
  4. I have always been a fan of him. He is one of those players that when we look thin, he steps in and does a good job. Whether in CM/AM, he can put in a good shift. I actually think he could have gone to a better team, but brilliant capture for Villa. Really surprised by this. Probably our only CM who offers a goalscoring threat too which frustrates me even more.
  5. Good to see him getting a lot of praise, but the Jekyll and Hyde fanbase will soon be down his neck slating him a in a couple weeks or so if he puts in a sub-standard performance. No patience with fans at all.
  6. I thought Mount was our best player yesterday. Then CHO for me. The game changed when he came on and added that much needed width. Havertz I would say was third but I was not impressed. Most of the players were off yesterday so saying he was easily in the best 3 is not really a big thing for me. When I just see people saying that he was really good, I just disagree. He frustrated me a lot yesterday. His pass for the CHO goal was magnificent, but saying that he did scupper some of our attacks. But like I say for me, the two players who made the real difference yesterday was Mount and CHO. If people are saying Havertz had his best performance yesterday, then I am just a little dumbfounded. I hope for a lot better.
  7. I disagree with you too then Havertz for me was way too frustrating yesterday. He showed early promise with that run and shot he done which forced a save from the keeper. Other than that, he got bullied off the ball a few times and lost possession. CHO, on other hand I was reading a couple comments on his thread and seems a few people judging by couple comments and likes the comment(s) on his performance, some people thought he was not that good, when I thought he looked a lot better than Havertz. I am not knocking Havertz, but did not see the good game everyone else think he had but I am sure this is just the settling in phase.
  8. I am confused how a lot of people are saying Havertz had a good game. He made a nice assist and showed a couple good touches, but lost the ball far too often and scuppered the attacks. I am surprised that Havertz is getting praise but not CHO. It is early days so completely understandable, but want to see him have a bigger impact in games. I am sure he will.
  9. Literally saved by the academy today! (Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham) I actually thought first half, Mount was our only good player and that goal was deserved for him. He was the only one making things happen. Hudson-Odoi was brilliant when he came on and that should certainly earn him a slot in our starting 11 for the next couple games hopefully. He will start against Spurs but he wants to be starting league games and today, he showed what quality he possesses. That should shut down any chances of him leaving this transfer window.
  10. I think I have seen 'Mendy set to join Chelsea' story for about a 1000 damn times and he is still isnt out player.
  11. He has been the only good player imo.
  12. The thing is he has an excellent, low centre of gravity. Saint-Maximim has ran against him a couple of times and Lamptey has done well and Wilson looked like he was in the clear and Lamptey made a brilliant challenge. Decent leap too. But yeah I love his hyper-aggressive mentality. A joy to watch.
  13. We can't actually be blamed for losing him. We have Reece James who is literally one year older and is also a fantastic prospect. Lamps was bringing him in gradually too. He brought him on in a huge game against Arsenal when we were 1-0 down. But it is just Reece James. I am sure Lamptey would of loved to work under Lamps also. A lot of players in his position would hhave signed the contract we offered, so fair play to him. It is annoying but we actually couldnt do much more in this case.
  14. He is terrific isn't he? Amazing pace and dribbling skills.
  15. I found it hard to put Traore in there or not He certainly is the most exciting and feared player, however would I put him in top three? Not sure.
  16. I rate him really highly. I would actually say he is one of their best 3 players with Jimenez and Neves and and Traore. He has brilliant dribbling ability, balance, versatile, scores goals and is only 23. The move has come out of no where really but I have rated him highly. It is just a real surprise that they did not go in for Werner... most likely down to wages but Werner is top class so...
  17. Werner looks electric. I was surprised/worried to see RLC in the lineup and I would rather we sub him. Is scuppering every move and just doesnt look at it. Would rather Barkley or even CHO come on in his place. We are quite lucky to be in front tbh. Lamptey our former academy player is a real talent. He has a bright future. It is a shame he moved on.
  18. He started off from the left and often interchanged positions. Either way he had a very good game and he was a different animal second half. However his goal was a CF finish. He will be a clinical goalscorer for Germany playing as the loneman upfront, no doubt about it.
  19. Very similar to Aubameyang. They often start of from the left but will often end up in CF position and they both will always score goals. What a finish
  20. I normally agree that it is too early to judge as he has not been no.1 for long, but he literally looks real deal. Another fantastic game today. He catches everything too and reminds me of Neuer. Completely commands the goal and is huge. Makes himself big. I think after today, Arteta definitely will not be selling him and will make him no.1 choice. Was so commanding and that was a big call which paid off. Martinez has everything. Leno is a good shot stopper but error prone.
  21. He is good but he is one of those players I don't think will succeed in PL. Reminds me of Davy Klaasen. Was brilliant in Eredivisie but just couldn't keep up with pace of PL.
  22. I remember when Leicester beat us season before the one that just ended. Was looking back at my comments on his performance: Just under 2 years later we have signed him Football is a funny old game. Hopefully he locks down this position for years to come and becomes England's main LB too.
  23. It is because of the money. He knows he hasn't got a chance of making it hear but I think he is on around £30,000 a week which is a lot of money for a player who has no future here. So if a club bought him, they would not pay him anywhere near that amount realistically and will he drop his wages for a permanent transfer? Most, certainly not. His contract ends next year, so that is when he probably will leave on free transfer.
  24. He got MOTM away to Croatia also right? Croatia are arguably better than England. Ok, you saw Lamptey destroy him. I saw Chilwell put in MOTM performance against us at the Bridge when they beat us 1-0. Don't get me wrong, I have been really impressed by Reguilon and I would take him here. However Chilwell seems to be Lamps first choice and I think people need to get behind him and also support the player. The lack of support it is was is surprsing me. Chilwell has shown flaws but he also has shown qualites in the PL too. Price, we getting him for around £50m which is a lot lower than Leciester initially wanted. It is a good deal. Matter of fact is all English players are overpriced. Norwich got relegated and already put a £50m price tag on Ben Godfrey. We have seen too many occasions before where the board gets a player who is not necessarily the manager's first choice and it has backfired. IIRC Conte wanted Lukaku but the board wanted Morata. I think a lot of fans were happy with that but facts is if Conte got his wish and got his man, it would have worked better but we got a striker who it just went really wrong. So I am happy that Lamps is now being given the full backing and I am sure he has weighed up why he wants him and also believes he can improve him as a player. When Lamps supported the permanent signing of Kovacic, again a lot of people did not agree, but most of them if not all of them now have changed their mind. Lamps improved Kovacic. Let's give Chilwell time to actually play under Lampard before writing him off. Also I never agree with paying that much money for a keeper, however getting Chilwell for this price in the English market is no way near in comparison to the Kepa deal.
  25. Well ironically, I think some people are acting as if he same age as Alonso and can't improve and have already written him off. He has loads of years left and loads of room to improve. I think season before last he was excellent actually and even for England his performances have been impressive.
