Oh I believe that too. Mikel isn't getting any younger and consider he's always been pretty slow, reckon they might be thinking of how to use him in his last year. dont think he's going to go anywhere as no one in their right mind would match his wages.
-
^^ agree except about mikeI - he's a lot less harmful in defense than in the middle. he has the technique of a very simple CB so he does better there. I mean Cahill has more goals and assists than mikel in his 10 years at the club.
-
We scored because of Hazard's quality. We did not suck because our midfield worked and we were not dominated in the middle - something that happened way too many times this season.
-
not many actually http://epl.squawka.com/english-barclays-premier-league/11-05-2016/liverpool-vs-chelsea/matches select Matic on the right and then passing up top - image tells the story.
-
that was some ridiculous goal keeping to be honest... no excuse to do that. Costed us a win against a big club, if not a team.
-
Matic is playing very well. Mikel plays better in defense.
-
Incorrect. He started two games under Jose: Everton and Porto plus cameos. hey if you see mikel as a player capable of driving a turning point, more power to you. personally I don't even think there was a turning point at all. This position is shameful stuff for a squad as expensive as we have. There was a short lived josegone boost, which people read in a number of different ways. Edit: actually more games - very interesting info here: http://www.squawka.com/players/john-obi-mikel/stats#performance-score#chelsea-(current)#english-barclays-premier-league#8#season-2015/2016#165#all-matches#1-37#by-match

Could we recall that didierforever fella just that he could explain to us why he thought Baba was the best thing since sliced bread... And to apologize for writing pages and pages stating that nonsense.
-
Even though I agree concerning the problems, you are actually saying Roman is the problem, because he's the one who picks the middle men and the one who can let him or them go. Roman may seem ruthless concerning the managers, but in the end he might be a very loyal person to his staff, which he actually appears to be - at least to his director.

Nope I got your point, but my point was about your Mikel matic comparison. when you criticize matic for his lack of a attacking aptitude, I have no issue even if not necessarily agree. however, when you put Mikel in there, then it's like comparing Oscar to hazard because hazard has poor shooting and finishing compared to other AMs, which makes him similar to Oscar in that only - only being the keyword.
-
By the same logic Oscar and hazard are just as effective in attack: same shooting ability? the fact hazard is better in all other attacking skill would not matter.
-
I completely understand that. it did make sense when Mikel rarely played under Jose, but now I cringe when people talk about improving the team without imptoving on him. I have no crystal ball and matic may stink next season too. However, he's more likely to deliver because he has before - unlike others. @The Skipperneither do I but we only deal with probabilities in football.
-
I did not say hazard performance dropped, but the teams performance did. this season hazard form dropped the most, compared to himself.
-
You've answered your own question: hazard carried the team because the team needed carrying once matic form dipped. do you remember the performances while hazard did the carrying? I happen to have more faith in players who have, in the past performed at a high level consistently. Matic and especially hazard fit the bill
-
Perhaps because he does not play as a dm with Mikel next to him?! mikel in 10 years at the club has never performed at the level we need... Did ok in one or another game, but never outstanding. matic on the other hand had several MotM performances in our winning season And in half of the one before along with Luiz. and yet people here are ok with what Mikel does and dislike matic... It's one of those things that just defy logic for me. if current form is all that matters, then that too should be consistent with other players. is hazard a one-footed donkey too?

The 75m valuation for a GK is just another way of saying fuck off!
-
Please forget the Chinese. players who move to China give up their international career like Ramires did - hasn't been called up since. dunga is insisting with a couple of players who are in China, and rightfully getting a lot of criticism for it. the move still makes sense for players in their thirties, which is hardly Oscar case. It's Juve or nothing, so focus on the Italians if you want Oscar gone.
-
Fair critique, which makes him a Mourinho player all right - cover less ground. Compared to Mikel, your criticisms seem harsh though - especially the shooting and being predictable. As a joke, Maradona couldn't use his right foot either...
-
Need another of the same type ... for whe he's hoing to be suspended... :;
-
He had a great game today. Yes, opposition is weak, so grain of salt required. Did his thing in midfield *and* added up front with through balls and an actual assist. There is nothing telling CMs to not get involved in the game - they should go where they are needed and contribute, as matic did.
-
You make great points there, especially the link with wages, which is something people forget often. Ironically, that's one of the couple things you've missed: you propose a false dilemma in that we need to find a bench player to replace our bench players. Even if it were true, it doesn't really matter because the likes of PSG and other top sides have just so many options that it becomes unfair, as it has been. BTW, liverpool has Cam and Lucas, both far better players than Mikel (I'd even take Allen to be honest), but again I digress. Point being that at around 75k and 95K weekly, I am sure Wanyama or any other midfield/defender from mid or smaller sides in the PL would suffer through sitting on our bench. Also, this idea of having bench warmers who accept their role as such is something very unique with us, and not common in other top sides: competition is important! Often I feel our players could use more competition - they look way too comfortable. And why do you say England? Are we not planning on competing in Europe anymore? There are good players all over the place and we have the expensive scouts to find them. Accepting the status quo is accepting defeat. Even if I admit that Oscar may not cut it at chelsea, which disappoints me, I cannot understand why people still want players who have proven over and over again, over many years, that they are not good enough to make us competitive against the top sides. Should we take a loss with them? we've done it before.
-
Poor form does not make him average. He has plenty of technique and pace, fantastic prospect even if a bit pricey. He is similar to Marcelo, but I'd rate Stones higher as he's taller and stronger. If available, should def get him.
-
Yes I am because to me he is only one of poor players in the squad and also far from the poorest one - market agrees. I could prove with numbers that you are wrong, but you'd just dismiss it for no reason. we will see who is right soon enough. oscar will be with us or another top club, say juve... The horror!!! By your logic the pickings of the tampon manager is the law of the land and that's just crazy.
-
How the fuck would I know?! You are the ones pretending to know things; like how much the will of the current tampon manager will affect next season.
-
I actually agreed with your 'facts' , which are really opinions based on assumptions about a tampon manager's actions, until you mentioned RLC That made me lol - RLC is still looking for that ball he sent to row Z. let's see where each of our 'favs' will be playing next season. RLC is a youngster who will be nowhere near the starting xi next season - you can quote me on this one. It's just opinions.
