As I've said in a previous post if you ask Isco to win 2 tackles a game, test the keeper 3 times a game, score goals and assist goals, press the opposition when out of possession AND do it week in and week out he would likely fail miserably. And I don't know what Ross Barkley you've been watching but this year he's been nothing short of awful, you put him in this team and we'd be MUCH worse off not to mention we'd have to pay upwards of 30m... Pogba is the only guy I think who can impact our lineup positively. We bought Oscar for something like £20M, we didn't pay over the odds for him. What he's done for the team(never mind individual contributions which have also been good) has made our team much more complete and balanced. I feel sometimes you guys look at the player's skill and not the system we play. Mata was our two time player of the year coming off a season where he had 18 goals and 25 assists in all comps, remarkable. Why was he let go? because he couldn't cope with the demands Jose puts on the team. Oscar isn't always an offensive dynamo but he is a key cog to the overall functionality of the squad. I don't think there are many players in the world today who will get you 10-15 goals, 10-15 assists, 2-2.5 tackles, and be adaptable enough to mark out an opposing attacker. He is a brilliant player who needs to get better in some areas but he is very tough to replace.

You clearly have misread my post. Read it again. Its hard to say that, I think it comes down to tactics. Who can do the job Mou needs for the team... Lets be honest here Jose thinks defense first before offense. Our most effective set up last year was with Luiz, Matic and Ramires in the midfield and with Willian and Hazard on the flank for pace.

In my opinion Oscar is at his best when as a team we move the ball quickly, he is probably one of our better players when it comes to passing the ball around with pace. In games where the tempo is slow and we can't play one touch football he struggles to get a foothold in the game but at the same time we all love it when the team plays at a faster tempo. For me he is integral to a team that want to play possession based football, not because he is brilliant on the ball but because his tactical nous make it possible for us to play fluidly. He hasn't had to be as effective in winning the ball back because Matic has been nothing short of the best in the world, winning close to 4 tackles a game! So he's not needed defensively other than in the press(which he is fantastic at when not tired) the aspects of his game that get exposed are the slower games where we need him to be a functioning conduit between Costa, Hazard and Cesc. I love Oscar's game and know he can still grow as a player but some of the shtick he gets from game to game is unwarranted for a player who is 23 and performing a variety of tasks well. How could you say that when for the most part his contributions have been good? We've been playing 4-3-3 in our big away games not 4-2-3-1. Against City we started with Willian, Ramires and Cesc with willian coming inside and allowing Ramires to leak out in a box to box role. Willian is the better counter attacker because of his pace not because of his quality.

I think this game will set the tone for the next three. It is very important to get a convincing result in this leg to set up the next three games for me. Cech Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Luis Matic - Cesc Willian - Oscar - Hazard Diego If we win this game convincingly we can rest players in the next two matches and set up for a cracker vs. City in a fortnight. Bradford city I'd go back with Courtois in goal and give Zouma, Remy and Ramires a start.

Its rare to have thar sort of technique and power/size in a player. I think he is similar to Yaya in that way for sure, the thing Yaya has ADDED to his game is goalscoring prowess. Yaya wasn't ever considered a goalscorer when younger but developed that later on. Pogba can definitely develop into a Yaya presence in the midfield if you ask me.

Every year this situation changes... You can't go on last years books and predict what this years will look like. Having said that I'm not saying its 100% just that nothing that has come out in recent days will lead me to believe its any different than before. We could easily loan/sell Salah and wait till the summer to sell Schurrle. Right now we need players eligible to play in the champions league so schurrle will have to stay.
