  1. He arrived in the middle of 2010-11 season. So You are considering only 1 full season of football in the end. A season in which Malaga finished 4th and qualified for the CL. Malaga scraped relegation the year before Pellegrini came. There was a lot of work to be done to the squad in order to get them to the top and naturally in the first window, they spent big. But they did get 4th and that was the objective. Now Malaga are very much like Everton now but in even worse financial strain. Yes, Spanish teams sell players but you have to note that Malaga lost 10 players or something. That includes the playmaker - Cazorla, his 2 strikers - Rondon and van Nistelrooy, Joris Mathijsen and finally Nacho Monreal. Pellegrini has had to restructure the squad this season. I don't see how being forced to change the core of the team is equivalent to spending a lot and underachieving. They've maintained their progress this season inspite of having to look for bargains. . Pellegrini has got several loan deals - Santa Cruz, Piazon, Lugano and free agents Javier Saviola, Onyewu and Manuel Iturra to complement his squad now. Isn't that the same as Everton? Oh wait, I am quite sure that Everton spent more than Malaga this season. The case for Pellegrini spending a lot and underachieving starts and ends at Real Madrid.
  2. Absolutely no-one attacks the ball when it's put into the box now. Compare that to Carlo's team where Malouda, Anelka, Lampard, Drogba would be flying in to the box to convert chances. Lack of cutting edge is painfully evident
  3. His work at Villarreal is comparable to Moyes at Everton imo. At Villarreal, he got the 2nd place finish ahead of Barca, the CL semis and 1 quarter-final run. Also, Pellegrini came to Malaga only in 2010. in his first full season in Malaga, he got them into CL - improvement doesn't happen overnight and getting top 4 in first full-season was a big achievement for Malaga regardless of the money spent. He was then forced to sell his best players Cazorla, Rondon and then Monreal and yet they are in the race for Top 4 again and also reached the CL quarters. In complete contrast to your last point - This season Malaga have overperformed inspite of financial struggles and sale of top players.
  4. Not you but in general, there are wildly optimistic 'Transfer Outs' from the fans. At best only the end of contract guys are leaving I suppose
  5. yes. but it is awfully optimistic to move players like, say Mikel - First of all, who will buy Mikel? Second of all. who will buy Mikel with a 5-year contract?
  6. Ins: Lewandowski - £20 mil - Contract is up next year. Good chance to get a quality forward relatively cheap. Benat/Moutinho - £16/£22 mil - Deep Lying Playmaker Luke Shaw - Cole replacement. Sign and loan Schurrle - £20 mil because it seems like it is happening Outs: Lampard, Benayoun, Ferreira, Hilario, Malouda On Loan: Courtois Omeruo Shaw PvA Chalobah McEachran Piazon
  7. Ben Davies, Luke Shaw, Steven Caulker, Matija Nastasic, Andy Weimann and many more better than Danny Welbeck this season.
  8. Sky Sports with the story now. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8650869/German-side-Bayer-Leverkusen-confirm-talks-in-London-about-Andre-Schurrle
  9. I am sure it'll be authentic. Man! Imagine getting a fake shirt from the megastore But somehow I'm skeptical that it will arrive within 2-4 business days of release.
  10. reliable? arrived on time, proper quality etc?
  11. or like Nike with United or like Nike with Barca.
  12. Anyone bought a kit from the Asia Megastore?
  13. what changed my opinion about Luiz was the incident during the City game. we were 2-0 down and Luiz chased a lost cause, kept the ball in and won a free-kick from Zabaleta. That gave our fans something to shout about and psychologically, the game turned there. But as @CHOULO19, pointed out, the captain in football would need to speak with refs and clear any problem that arises and David Luiz's English doesn't look good enough to communicate with refs who will no doubt have a thick British accent (I imagine). this is also why i want Cole ahead of Cech in the Captaincy order
  14. I don't think we should address the captaincy issue till JT leaves because captain doesn't need to play every game. Also, Cole signed a 2-year contract right? I would love to see Cole get the armband if JT leaves at the end of next season about David Luiz, if you'd asked at the start of the season, many of us - myself included - would've said 'Definitely No' but now i will say 'maybe'. still not convinced
  15. I meant relative to Jose, it'll be dud If Moyes comes - I'll be like - Okay, I hope he can sign 2-3 good players. Then we can challenge for the title If Jose comes - HOLY SHIT! We'll be Champions again
  16. I agree that Pellegrini has got his flaws. I don't exactly love his reserved, soft-spoken style. I would prefer a more 'In-Your-Face' manager actually but in the current market, there are only so few managers left for Chelsea to pick from and from that pool I prefer Pellegrini. You prefer Moyes and we've been at it for what? 24 hours now? my fingers are starting to numb from the typing. so let's just agree to disagree and move on now. If Jose doesn't come, nobody will be excited by any new manager.
  17. lol! Forgot about that guy. Beast attack
  18. Giroud Chamakh Kalou Gervinho
  19. @, The Champions League is a whole different level from the FA Cup. Everton winning the FA Cup is plausible, as you said, but Malaga or Villarreal coming even close to the final of CL isn't. He reached the semis once and the Quarters twice. That is THREE different seasons where he has taken his team to the Quarters or beyond. That is why his achievements in the Champions League is noted on his resume. Moreover, Pellegrini also finished 2nd in the league with Villarreal in 08-09 - 10 points ahead of Barca. Pellegrini has his flaws. Both he and Moyes are up near the top of the list due to lack of options. Pellegrini is a bit soft-spoken and reserved. his record in the Copa del rey is rather alarming as you put it but apart from Jose, there is no candidate who will be widely accepted. The comparison we are making here is solely between Pellegrini and Moyes and tactically, Pellegrini is more competent and more suited to current Chelsea team than Moyes' rugged hard-working style.
  20. And where is Drogba now? We are moving on from Mourinho's team aren't we? it's rather absurd that you hail Everton for playing 'nice' football one post and then defend their physicality the next post
  21. adidas have nailed it once again. simple and elegant
  22. Everton have blown 8 'Home' FA Cup ties in 11 seasons under Moyes. Fulham ® 2004, United 2005, Chelsea ® 2006, Blackburn- 2007, Oldham - 2008, Birmingham - 2010, Reading -2011, Wigan - 2013. I think there are 6-7 winnable games there. Plus most of those games were 4th or 5th round. His Cup record is very overrated because he reached one final and also because Everton is the proverbial underdog
