Chelsea vs QPR POST-MATCH DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS Barclays Premier League 2nd January, Wednesday 2013 Stamford Bridge 19:45 Kick Off (UK time)
-
Yes but had Torres run wider, the ball would have played in nicely which will likely result in him being 1-on-1 against Howard and he would probably score with his first touch on the ball.
-
Still need to find a way to cope with their physical and aerial threat. Suffered that against West Ham and then Everton today.
-
TBF, he wasn't the only who did that today.

Some was generally not fit and a disaster to manage us anyway. No point of bringing someone in like Guardiola to implement a certain playing style on us if Roman doesn't change his ways of being impatient. Ultimately, all he cares is about results, despite all this talk about him wanting us to play attacking football. The obsession with trying to play attacking football has led to Roman hiring managers and then sacking them the minute something goes wrong. We will soon run out of finding a top quality manager to manage us.

Given what happened, yes, it was good tackle but from our perspective, the reason why Distin got the tackle in was because Torres ran too close to Distin. Torres did not run wider and create that space between himself and Distin. Had he done so, the ball would have been played perfectly to Torres's path, taking Distin out of the picture and he would have scored. Distin then wouldn't be able to put that tackle in! If that was the chance to win the game 2-1 OR had Everton equalized, would you really be saying it's an excellent tackle from Distin? I don't think so. The old Torres would have ran wider or heck, any striker would have done that. It's a basic and common thing!

Indeed, especially when you consider Roman always pull the trigger the minute we start to go on a bad run of results.

Only 11 actually, unless you count winning those penalties and free kicks as assists.

Coming from behind to end Everton's unbeaten home record this season and win at one of the toughest grounds in England. Can't ask for more really. The players showed great character and resilience to stay in the game and take our chances when it came. Yes, we had a little bit of luck but given that some other teams have enjoyed loads of them already this season while we have to endure some misfortunes ourselves, we probably do deserve a bit of it. The 3 points gained today is certainly valuable given we last won there in 2008 and the fact that Man United and Tottenham have lost at Goodison this season while Arsenal drew. Heck! Even Liverpool drew the game after going 2-0 up. Coupled with the win at Norwich, the ground where Man United and Arsenal lost too this season, gaining 6 points over this Christmas period have been great!

I gave him credit for turning our results and performances around but that doesn't mean he isn't without his faults either. I will criticize him if and when he makes mistakes and I will give him credit when he bring positive things to the team.

Believe it or not, this is the first time we have won 3 consecutive away league games in a single season since August-September 2009! We beat Fulham, Sunderland and Stoke then. Now, it's Sunderland, Norwich and Everton.

Rafa Benitez's record now in all competitions at Chelsea - P11 W7 D2 L2. Have won 7 of the last 8. In the Premier League - P7 W4 D2 L1. Have won the last 4.

No. The problem then was when Oscar ran with the ball, instead of running wider and create that space between himself and Distin, he kept on running so closely to him. When Oscar played the ball into his path, Distin was too close to him and allowed the chance to clear it! Had Torres create that gap between him and Distin, the latter won't have a chance to clear it and Torres would have scored as the through ball from Oscar would be played in perfectly to his path.

Can't even remember the last time I felt this good watching us coming from behind to win a game. Arguably an undeserved win but we did what was needed and got 3 massive points. Back up to 3rd now! As for Lampard, sign him up Roman. SIGN HIM UP!!

Will be a fantastic signing if we get him!

Think one could just pick 2 spectators from the crowd to play in the pivot and will look world class against Villa that day. Great win it was then but it cannot be used as an indication or benchmark that the pivot of Luiz and Lampard can work. Until they are both tested against high quality oppositions, we can't say that pivot will work!

It's not really that. When everybody's favorite player is having 2-3 bad games and it highlights their deficiencies or weaknesses, nobody says a thing. However, when he suddenly starts scoring or does run past 2-3 players to assist a goal or does something brilliant, suddenly everyone will roll the bandwagon and have a wankfest like he's the best player in the world, even though he probably have weaknesses than strengths in his game.

As I have said, Walcott's game is all about pace and space. Give him the latter and he will excel. Problem comes when he's not given that. When opponents defend deep and narrow against us, which the lesser sides tend too, then Walcott is basically ineffective. These problems were already evident even when he was still playing at RW.
-
That's the reason why I don't want Walcott. Give him space, he will thrive and excel. However, when opponents defend deep and congest up the space, Walcott becomes practically useless. Even Walcott said earlier that when the game is open, it suits him. He offers nothing more than pace.
-
No doubt that he has improved certain aspects of the team for the better since he took over but to say he has done a terrific job turning things around is exaggerating it. His time here will ultimately be judged by the end results with the final league position and/or number of trophies won.
