Or maybe it's just the way Chelsea like to do things. Always tease and make life intense for people!
-
We really need to stop making life difficult for ourselves in the Champions League despite the entertainment that we are getting. Can't be screaming at the defence every single time!

Poor performance once again but the 3 points was all that matter from this game. And we inflicted the first defeat on Shakhtar in 37 competitive matches(W35 D2) since they last lost, to Porto in November 2011. We now sit second in the group, on level points with Shakhtar and 1 ahead of Juventus. Some may ask why we are in second when we have better GD than Shakhtar. If two teams are on level points, then here is how they separate them in the group standings.

Congrats TorontoChelsea!

City fans' are appalling. Silent when the team is losing and then start making noise after they drew level. Probably the funniest thing of all is that you can always see empty seats at the Etihad whenever there is a Champions League game.

There were some reports back then said he will be out longer than that. And he's already 34. May take longer to recover from injury these days.
-
Well, he's already out of the match to begin with anyway and RDM has said it will take about another 7 to 10 days for him to return.
-
Don't think so. He's not Ancelotti you know.
-
Still suffering from that ankle problem last week. Will have a late fitness test tomorrow along with Mata.
-
Luiz...
-
Think there should a 'Beard Of the Month' award for him. Always look so neat with his!
-
That team news from RDM is a bit of a disaster. Need to get all our best players out there if possible tomorrow. Anything other than a win is a disaster!
-
Well deserved. Now, I hope he doesn't suffer the curse of that award...

5.30pm UK time from what I saw on Twitter yesterday. EDIT: Here it is...

Was hardly an entertaining game last night but another solid result and performance by West Brom. 5 home wins out of 6 in the league so far this season. Going to the Hawthorns next weekend would not be easy at all.

A couple of stats and facts to throw in... 1. Spanish referee Carlos Velasco Carballo will officiate the Chelsea v Shakhtar Donetsk match at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. 2. Carballo has previously officiated 2 Chelsea matches in the Champions League - the Blues 2-0 victory over Spartak Moscow in 2010 and their 3-1 loss to Napoli. 3. Shakhtar Donetsk have not won any of their 4 previous visits to London in European competitions - D1 L3. 4. Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu has tasted victory in London before. His Besiktas emerged 2-0 victors at SB back in the 03/04 Champions League. 5. Besiktas are ONE of the only FIVE sides to have ever beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League. 6. In fact, Besiktas are the last side to have beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League group stage, in the 03/04 season. 7. Chelsea have won 70.6% of their matches at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League group stage - P34 W24 D8 L2.

Yes but it will only be used seperate the two teams if the head-to-head record is equal after the 2 meetings(e.g Nordsjaelland 1-1 Juventus & Juventus 1-1 Nordsjaelland) and are on level points. Away goals are taken into count in the head-to-head meetings IIRC. This.
-
Head-to-head record comes into the play first if two teams are on level points.
-
To top the group after this game, we need to either win 1-0, 2-1 or anything more than a 1 goal margin. Should we win it 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 etc, then Shakhtar will still remain top of the group after it because they'll have more away goals than us over the 2 meetings in the group.

Well, we didn't just take Mourinho away from their Champions League winning team did we? Yes, he is.
-
Azpilicueta is solid defensively and has played in many Champions League match previously for Marseille. He wouldn't be a rabbit caught under the headlights should he feature on Wednesday.
-
The prices we paid for Ferreira, Carvalho and Mourinho was alright but I'm sorry, after the crazy money after we had spent on Torres and Shevchenko, no way we should be looking to pay over the odds for another player. There are similar quality players elswhere, if not better that will costs us for less than what Porto would demand. And as for Hulk, he's nowhere worth the 40m that Porto reportedly wanted. At best, he's probably only worth around 30m.

Interesting observation. Will keep an eye on it but lets not overthink this after just 1 disappointing result.
