Don't see much wrong with having 4-5 players for 1-2 positions in the team. There will be rotations, suspensions and injuries. Each of the players will play their part in the campaign. Lampard's experience could still prove valuable when we desperately need a goal in a game. Yes, we may still have Cech and Terry in the team but having about 2 more is not going to kill is it? They can teach the younger players who can plays in the same position as them everything about it. Right now, it seems that the club is more concerned about clearing the huge wage bills than anything else. Yes, the Financial Fair Play rules may be coming in but would it kill the club to open contract negotiations with Lampard(and Cole)? Why not try have a go, offer them a contract with lower wages etc and see how it pans out? At the moment, they don't seem bother to even do it. Feels like the club is just all thinking about business and completely overlooking on the football aspects in terms of what experience players like Lampard and Cole can bring to the team. As mentioned earlier, they can help to guide the younger players with their footballing abilities and knowledge in the game off the pitch and on it, particularly during tough circumstances, these experienced players can be called upon when needed to calm things down. We wouldn't want to become like Arsenal, would we? They let go all their experience players and all that left is kids. Talented they may be but lack the experience. That has already been proven when Arsenal get to the latter stages of a cup competition and/or challenging for the league, they don't have that experience player to pull them through those squeaky bum moments. In the end what happens, they always collapse and crumble when nearing the finishing line. Now, we do not want to become like them, do we?

If Lampard stays, it won't necessarily stifle the development of McEachran, De Bruyne, Oscar etc because he definitely won't be playing every game. In addition, the likes of McEachran, De Bruyne and Oscar could gain quite a lot by learning from Lampard with his massive experience and knowledge in the game. He can help these younger lads to get better be it with their football abilities, skills or the know how on how to react in tough situations during matches.

Jeeez. Sound so serious.

A slight shame that the Lampard's contract situation has overshadowed the fact that we beat Everton at Goodison for the first time this season and coming from behind to achieve that victory.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope you will have a great 2013! Nobody asked...

The 'h' was probably just accidentally typed in there. Wouldn't read too much into it at all.

Turnbull will be in goal for this one. Oh dear.

You have obviously jinxed it!!

That would just put unnecessary pressure on him. If other players are getting consistent chances to start games, then why can't Marin get the same? The amount of game time he'll get should not be dependent on what he does in just 1-2 opportunities.

If you want to blame Mata, Hazard and Ramires for us losing possession, then I think the whole team should be blamed instead. For the first 25-30 minutes, the whole team was practically awful, not just those 3 you mentioned. The team wasn't calm and composed enough on the ball and that wasn't helped with the fact that Everton pressurized us all over the pitch, forcing us into making mistakes and just lumping the ball forward. After the half hour mark, we began to settle down and Mata as well as Ramires arguably looked our two most dangerous attacking players going forward. They ran with the ball into the space in front of them and drove the team forward. Some of the chances that we had in the first half was because of those attacking runs.

Seems that Marin has become the forgotten man at the club already... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1283306/marin-keen-fight-chelsea-place?cc=4716 Really do feel sorry for him. Has recovered from his injury but yet to be given much chance to play. Hopefully, he'll get more of those in 2013.

For the record, we are not paying Hazard 170k p/w. It's only about 110k p/w! EDIT: Just saw your post with the link saying Hazard earns 170k p/w here. While the English media reported that, the French and Belgian media said he's only earning about 110k p/w. Given the English media's agenda against us, I wouldn't believe what they report and better to believe what the French and Belgian said in this case. The English media will try to make it as if Hazard chose us because of the money. Furthermore, we can't be that idiotic to be paying a 21 y/o, however talented Hazard is, 170k p/w. Maybe in the future, but definitely not now!

Post moved to here since it's reactions about this game.

He was. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac-SRh5vn9w Skip to 1:37 for the second goal.

This will probably drag on and on a little bit like the Cahill transfer saga last January.

It's one thing to have passion, determination and hard work but it's also equally important to have the tactical understanding, discipline and being able to stay calm and composed in the field and not being rash. As much as Luiz has the former aspects, it's still obvious that he lacks in the latter aspects. If every player only have passion, hardwork and determination as you said and doesn't understand the tactical side of the game, then those players will just be nothing more than headless chickens! You need to have a balance of both.

I would avoid resting any players if possible and leave it for the cup tie at the weekend if we want to do it. We need the 3 points here. Can't afford to drop any!

Just realized this. In those fixtures last season, it was - P9 D4 L5. This season, it's - P9 W7 D2.

QPR's next 4 league games - Chelsea(A), Tottenham(H), West Ham(A) and Manchester City(H).
-
I don't care how crap QPR have been recently or this season but we cannot underestimate them. Need to be professional and put in a proper performance here to get the 3 points. Otherwise, all the good work that we have done recently would be wasted especially after winning 2 tough away games during the Christmas period.
