I'm sorry but numbers don't always tell the whole story. Heart and soul of the team yes but maybe that's because he's just better than the rest (which he arguably is). He's good but nowhere near great and/or as great as you made it out to be (especially in regards to your last post).

If that is not called 'overrating', then I don't know what is. Just strengthens my point further.

Reus has talent and all but the way people have been talking up about him in this forum is like as if he's the next Messi or Pele. Almost embarrassing, if not cringeworthy at times.

Again, it isn't about the partnership with Terry or the system here. Once again, I'm not faulting him for what he has done in this current setup or even in favor for another CB to be flashy on the ball (not that I've any issue with it in general). He's playing in a system that suits his strengths (and in a way perhaps hide his weakness as well) and he deserves credit for that. And no, I wasn't being picky of trying to look for the odd mistake in Cahill's play. He has improved and been better yes but I'm just not totally convinced he has truly improved and/or in the manner others have spoke of him as a defender (nothing to do with Terry or the system!). After all, you can only really say a person has improved if he/she has totally eradicate the constant mistakes made from the past and turn that weakness into a strength. Still seeing examples that suggest it isn't the case yet. Until I see that happens and how Cahill handle himself in 1 v 1 situation, in open games etc (basically in situations that isn't always his comfort zone), I'll remain skeptical.

C'mon mate. Think you have been long and active enough in the forum to realize that just because nobody talks about it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. There have been cases where some players performance, good or bad, are being ignored and their thread stay rather quiet compare to others for instance. I didn't mention any examples because there aren't any really major ones but if you see some of our recents games - PSG(away), Norwich, Villa, Palace, Atletico (home) - there are definitely instances of those points on Cahill I mentioned, in counter-attacking situations and/or when we try to play a more open game.

Wasn't talking about the defensive partnership of Cahill and Terry. They have done well as a partnership this season and in our current setup, did their jobs well and what has been asked of them. Instead, I was talking about the qualities or strengths and weaknesses of Cahill as a defender, just like how we have praised/criticized Terry, Azpi, Ivanovic, Luiz etc individually. Was merely pointing out that in a more open situation during a game or 1 v 1 situation, those problems of Cahill that we saw last season may surface again. In fact, some of it were still evident in recent games when we had to gamble, take some risks to win the game but because it didn't exactly occur a lot and/or something bad happened at the end of it, it wasn't talked about (much). Against average defenders, don't think Cahill would have much problem dealing with them in 1 v 1 situation but against the better or best ones, I'm not totally convinced of his abilities in those circumstances (at least not when until he's truly tested and pass with flying colors) as much as I would with say Azpi.

Some managers have it. Neil Lennon, Ancelotti, Pepe Mel are the ones that come to my mind right now. They are allowed to use it as it is within their rights and all. They just might not reveal or tweet that much but only from time to time or on a certain good things.

Think it's a bit of both really. Against Palace, Rodgers was indeed naive in the way he managed the game. Liverpool can't be faulted for their intention of wanting to close that GD gap on City but if they are going try and score more goals, at least doing with a plan, intelligence and cohesion. If you can't get what you want, then hold what you have. Anything can still happen in the remaining games. Instead, they were just mindlessly charging forward, committing so many men forward without any thought of keeping their team balanced. Already their defence is so hopeless, they went and leave themselves exposed on the break which only made it worse. Did Liverpool think they were playing a side from the Conference that was just gonna roll over and not pose any threat to them? Don't want to be mean but can't help but to think "what stupidity!" when you see what Liverpool were doing and it got even more laughable when you Johnson's woeful defending for all 3 goals and Skrtel stupidly charged out to make a challenge and left a gap in his defence. On the bigger issue, you gotta question Rodgers's ability to organize his team defensively and maintain the right balace when attacking and/or defending. How many times we've said this season that Liverpool have looked rubbish defensively with them conceding so many poor goals but only got out of jail because of Suarez, Sturridge (and refereeing decisions) etc? Even though they won these games, Liverpool have conceded 2 goals against Fulham, Norwich, Villa and even 3 against teams like Cardiff, Swansea, Stoke, Hull. They may score a lot of goals but to concede that many at the same time against poor sides like those is appalling especially in the manner they did. We said if we had beaten more of the lesser teams, we would have won the league by now. Guess the similar thing can be said of Liverpool, had they conceded less in those games, they could have won the title by now or be in a position of having same points as City but not worry about their GD. Rodgers can buy all the quality defenders he wants but if he and his staffs doesn't put more thought and effort into getting his side organized and solid defensively, Liverpool are gonna get horribly found out next season especially in Europe when every mistake would be punished clinically (like Dortmund experienced 2 seasons ago). Perhaps, Rodgers should watch videos and/or refer back to what he learned from Mourinho.

Until actually UEFA does something 'right' in regards to what FFP is about and has been talked about, like banning clubs from European competition, doubt anyone would really take it seriously especially when leniency are being shown.
