Not too sure about this TBH. Would rather spent £30 million on a 19-year old LB who can serve us for the next 15 years rather than £16.5 million on a 29-year old LB who would probably only serve us for 3-4 years at the highest level.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/01/rui-faria-chelsea-banned-improper-conduct The FA have done it again! Utterly pathetic to hand Faria a 6-match STADIUM ban just because of the words he used and aggressive behaviour shown. If it was a touchline ban, then fine but stadium ban?! Pardew, who headbutted a player, got a 7-game ban but only 3 of those were stadium bans!

Inclined to agree but think there's a difference here in actually pinning the blame on Hazard for the defeat and just criticizing the mistakes he made for the 1st and even 3rd goal conceded. From what I've read in the past few pages, the talk has mostly been about the latter with only a few, very few, probably suggesting the former. Yet to see everyone turning this into a scapegoating and blowing it out of proportion by saying things like "Hazard is the reason why we lost!".

Surprised no one has mentioned Willian's brilliance in creating our goal yesterday. Took on 2 Atletico players and skinned them. Brilliant and praise must also go to Azpi for his supporting run. And as mesousa mentioned, his set piece delivery seem to have gotten better. Long it may continue!
-
Speaking of that gesture, have you seen this? It's funny.
-
Am not a real supporter? Yeah, like I give a shit about whether others think I'm a real supporter or not. It's quite sad when people have to resort to such cheap attacks in a discussion rather than have a civilized debate.
-
 Honestly, who are you to tell me that I should take back my words and say something else? You have your own opinion, I have mine. This is getting old from you. Every time someone has a different views from you, you'll start to attack them with insults and abuse. I've posted my views on the game as a whole in the post-match thread, albeit a short one and like I've said several times before, if the team or player deserves a praise, then they/he'll get one. If they or he deserves to be criticized for something, then they/he'll one. And just because I'm a supporter, doesn't mean I should just be praising the team all the time. Same with just because I criticize them doesn't mean I don't support and love the club. After all, just like everyone else, we only want what it's best for the team by looking at the faults and discussing what can be done better. Really though, if you can't understand properly, then it's not my problem. However, continue with your 'outrage' here and we'll see where it gets you...

Right...continue your idiocy here and we'll see who gets the hell out first...

I never chose to ignore but the issue is, Hazard was there, he knew Juanfran was behind him. So, why did he let him go scott-free without doing anything? He only had to run a bit to put pressure on Juanfran and/or block the shot. He was doing perfectly fine through the centre? Hardly. And it still doesn't excuse him of his defensive work when he got switched out wide (though on the bigger picture, he shouldn't have even started in the first place). Agree but again, that is not an excuse, not for me. If people can praise him when he does well, then why can't people cricitize him when he doesn't do well? It's only fair to praise him when he deserves one and criticize him when he deserves one as well. Agree but nothing wrong with trying to discuss on the issue more extensively..
-
Well, Ancelotti is one thing but would want Atletico to win it so that we can say lost to the champions..
-
Yes and the most criminal part of it was he knew Juanfran was there but didn't bother tracking when the cross came in.
-
Precisely that. TBH, I don't quite understand some people. We have seen Hazard improved on his defensive duties and track back to defend against his FB when he has to. When that happens, people praised his work for it which is fair and yet, when he doesn't track back, the same lots think he shouldn't be criticized and allowed to get away scott-free with his defensive work. That isn't fair and rather selective, isn't it? If that was the case under Mourinho, Mata wouldn't have been sold and probably will be playing in the starting XI every week. Additionally, going by that logic, we should just defend with 6 players and just let the front 4 go AWOL defensively, almost like when we were under RDM. Remember all those goals we conceded from simple cutbacks? I do not want to make comparison but if Hazard was causing damage in the same way say Ronaldo does to the opposition offensively, then you can sort of close one eye on his lack of defensive duties since he compensates it by destroying the opposing team. However, since that is not the case (at least not yet anyway) now, then we can't afford to have any slackers, if you like, in the team and everyone need to contribute their fair share of defensive work (especially when this team is by no means the strongest or best yet).

Every fan? Nah. There will be some crying and moaning.

Marc Wilmots on Hazard...
-
Although unlikely, I swear this thread (and probably the Mourinho one) will take another 180 degrees turn from negative to positive comments if we win this weekend and both City and Liverpool lose...
-
Although Hazard is by no means 100% wrong in what he said about our style of play, in a week where there has been a strong debate on the positive/negative style of play, his comments were unnecessary. It only gives the media, haters etc amminution to attack Mourinho and team... Eden Hazard criticises Jose Mourinho's tactics, saying Chelsea 'aren't set up to play football' after defeat to Atletico Madrid
-
Meant the part where he's asked to do it alone. Did he really mean that as in Mourinho/the team ask him to do everything? That's the part I'm curious about..
-
Cheers but am curious over this though..
-
Indeed. 2004/05 Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea 2006/07 Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea 2013/14 Atletico Madrid 0-0 Chelsea Chelsea 1-3 Atletico Madrid
-
And apparently this is what Hazard said on beIN sports. Anyone care to translate?
-
Whatever you say Ron......

Maybe it's because Mourinho didn't have many options due to injuries/suspensions but was kinda surprised he went down the AVB/RDM/Benitez route of starting a FB out on the flank.
