I don't think Schurrle was as bad as people have made him out to be against Arsenal. Yes, he was somewhat unproductive going forward in the game but who else really did anyway? Completely worked his socks off both offensively and defensively and played like someone who wanted to make things happen.
After watching Aston Villa's last 3 Premier League matches, it's almost beyond belief that they went unbeaten in the first four games. They were so bloody insipid!
Call me paranoid but having an uneasy feeling ahead of this game. The circumstances are too much in our favor. Am feeling like something silly/bad is gonna happen.
To say he's getting very selfish is an exaggeration and all because he took like 10-15 shots by himself against Bolton. Had he scored a few there and/or even against Sporting Lisbon, nobody would be saying that at all.
While I can't disagree with Mourinho's point about Schurrle's inconsistency in his presser earlier, why has he like suddenly criticised him in the media?!
Have to say, can't believe that Sporting played such a ridiculous high line yesterday without any proper pressure on the ball. Easy to bypass their midfield and one ball in behind the defence and we were through. It's almost as AVB was coaching them!
The game was perfectly set up for him with Sporting Lisbon playing a high line and plenty of space for Schurrle to exploit. But his finishing and decision making was poor. Not good.
