Glad that we can actually enjoy the last game safe with the knowledge that we have won the group - first time this has happened since 2010/11 season. Hoping for a win and good performance tonight.

To be honest, I don't think that really counts as winning a trophy. Supercup matches are pretty much glorified friendlies and they are played before the season even starts.

Apparently, Loftus-Cheek is gonna do the presser with Mourinho. And...

Only 8 points ahead of United now. Eeeeeek!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! On another note, think Oscar won't miss him. Always look annoyed when being interviewed by Barnett.

Boring? Is it because your favorite boy Mohamed Salah will play?

Diego Costa could start for Chelsea against Sporting Lisbon

Even if Zenit haven't won the league title since 2012, it still doesn't change the fact that the Russian league is a weak league with very little competition. No, AVB didn't beat Dortmund with Zenit then. It was the caretaker coach who did that after Spalletti's sacking. AVB only took over after that game. Besides, Zenit only won that tie because of Hulk's long range effort and Dortmund were already through by then having won the first leg 4-2. He had Bale on his side and yet still failed to get the Top 4 (they were 7 points clear of 5th in March!). People may look at the points tally and think he did a fine job at Tottenham but they have never been convincing, not even in the second season (goodness knows how many times they won a game because of Soldado's penalty). Spurs may get the wins under him but they have hardly ever played well from the first 1st minute till the last and consistently. They have only ever played well in patches.

I agree but if we're gonna start playing Hazard in dead rubber matches like this, then when exactly are we gonna rest him? Time for others to step up and prove their worth. Have one on TV and stream the other.
-
Sporting won't be pushovers but you do realize that we have won the group already, don't you? They are a decent side but if we can't beat them with a slightly weakened team, then we've got issues. Would rather have Hazard play against Derby than Sporting.

If Aguero is really out injured for an extended period of time, then they are pretty much left with Dzeko as the striker only. I say that because Jovetic is not an out-and-out striker and he's injured half of the time anyway. Their midfielders can score goals too but only Toure seems to be the one capable of doing it on a more regular basis than others. The others will chip in here and there but not consistently.
-
Do wonder what is Remy thinking right now though. He was signed to be the second choice striker but now, he seems to be third one instead. Having someone like Remy in the box yesterday might have worked with his goalscoring instincts to pick up the second balls considering we were just lumping it to Drogba and hoping for the best.

Moyes and Real Sociedad just got hammered 4-0 by Villarreal. Ouch.
