Only seen a few games of Roma this season as I do not actively watch Serie A however from what I saw I was not like "wow.. really good CB" just a decent CB, nothing special, very rash/'determined' in that way reminds me of Luiz (NOT as bad) however dives into positions that could potentially leave him open behind. I'd rather save the £30m or spend some of it on a striker and go into the season with Terry/Cahill/Ivanovic/Zouma

I watch La Liga whenever I can, most weeks infact and I can tell you that, my own personal opinion only, that it didn't help that he never really knew where he was playing? If that makes sense. That is the impression I got anyway. I'm not a huge fan of the way Barca play and he never looked suited, just looked like he was shoe horned into the side alot of the time, he had a faster tempo than the way they played which I can only attribute to the EPL/Arsenal's play.

Looking forward to a pre-season at the bridge and think its a smart move from the board/club before the season starts so not technically our first game there when the prem kicks off. Smart smart smart.

He's a youngster. Great prospect, great ability. Concentration will dictate whether this kid makes it or breaks it. Cahill improved his concentration and positioning a great deal under JT/next to JT/At Chelsea as did Ashley. Needs time and games but he is a worry, at the moment.

You say this but that is exactly what I'm reminded of, started pre-season well/nothing too bright/tiny bit shaky and then..........................and then....................:-(

Exactly this x 1000, it is SO good to see passes being sprayed about, I've wanted an Alonso type passer for so long at Chelsea and now we have it + more in Cesc Initial worries are that we are relying on him too much at the moment? Just a slight sight that I'm seeing but I'm sure once others kick in it'll work to our benefit, I'm happy for 2-3 players to crowd Cesc.. Right, Eden?! ;-)

I like that he unsettles the opponents CBs, there are some of course that cannot be unsettled this way but the majority focus too much on it which might let our other players nip in.

He almost lost it in the friendly with Vitesse, headbutt the guys arm after a slide tackle. Christ, I love this guy.

Great chance to be 3rd CB or even displace Cahill (Very difficult) however Zouma is just too raw right now, all the signs to be a good/great CB, physically however the head just isn't there right now due to age/experience/concentration People under-estimate concentration so much, rarely is Terry caught out of position, exc. pre-season

Brilliant idea to be honest Playing against 2 teams going hell for leather for 45 minutes each because they know they only have to play 45 whereas Chelsea do the 90, brilliant for intensity and fitness. Glad we were spanked by Bremen

Very surprised by his first touch, how much its disappeared.. hopefully just rustiness.

Does nobody else think this was needed? Our rivals have played alot more quality opponents than us and I think it is good to bring us down to earth for one, and two, get their heads straight before the season or we will end up dropping points at Palace etc. again. I think this is a positive step for us as a team, nobody likes seeing us play this way or lose 3-0 but its pre-season, not the league or CL. Onwards and upwards.

Would love to see him have a blinding season and come back to us. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that Ryan is a late bloomer, he has talent for sure. Smart move by the club to be honest with Luis's age.

Thats what I could see our lineup being Costa Schurrle-Haz-Willian or Oscar Matic Cesc
