Yea I agree that it was their need of a prolific striker that let them down this season. Adebayor was horrid right up until the last few games of the season. He was better for them last year but there were other factors to why Spurs didn't cut it this year.Modric was an animal for Spurs and remember they finished in the top 4 with him last season after his incredible influence on the team. He was their best player and his absence this season pushed Bale to step up to carrying the team. Dembele is a very good player who I rate highly but he doesn't have the quick, incisive vision that Modric added to their team. Sandro isn't a DPL so he was never going to fill the void Mod left and Holtby hasn't settled in yet. If Modric had stayed at Spurs with Bale and Lennon on the wings with Dembele next to Modric and an in form Adebyor then they would have been a very frightening force.

The Germans haven't all of a sudden become equally as good as the Spanish because of an all German team final in the Champions League. There were and always have been German footballers as good as the Spanish. Likewise for Italian, Brasillian, English, Argentinian, Dutch, French and other countries all over the world. Look at Belgium and the players they are producing at the moment...scary amounts of talent. Just because teams from a certain league who have players mostly born in one country dominate Europe does not mean the other countries don't produce world class talent.. If scouts worked by that kind of logic the World would have missed out on some of the best players in history.

If Spurs had kept Modric they would have secured a Champions League spot this year. Instead they cashed in and joined the Chump'ions League!

Yea Monaco are building a decent team but CL football isn't a given for next year just because they have got some big names. Yea they probably will seeing as Ligue 1 is soo shit and boring. Compared to the Prem, Ligue 1 doesn't even come close. There top 4 teams are on the same level as the bottom half of the Prem.

There is no convincing me that it isn't a move inspired by money if you chose Monaco over us. CLfootball is the holy grail for all footballers at club level and Minaco are not in it next year. Madrid and Chelsea may have spent money to build good teams but it isn't just the money for the players it's the wanting to wear the shirt that lures them in.

Hypothetically speaking why would any professional football player who is in the peak of their career want to join Monaco instead of Madrid or Chelsea!????Money! It isn't the new norm to join clubs who aren't challenging for the best trophies football has to offer.

I can't believe James Rodriguez and Moutinho have gone to Monaco. James was a player I was secretly hoping for us to be linked with this summer. If Falcao joins Monaco now then it just proves that football for some has become all about the Benjamin's and what a shame that is for the game. I guess greed rules glory for certain folks but you need these kind of players to remind you who is playing for the badge and who isn't. I don't know what the current situation is with Isco as I saw a lot of Madrid players claiming that they have already got him but nothing official. The perfect age to do a job and allow Romeu, Challobah and Ake to break through without being blocked by a world class DM who has years ahead of him. That's a win/win buy and we must push to get him. This could be debated for weeks to come and probably will but it is as simple as jeronimo says. I reckon we will buy one striker, keep Torres and Ba, Loan out Lukaku to a Prem club and go into the season with three strikers which is more than sufficient for our system.
