For a big club like chelsea whose target is to win epl/ucl, you cannot just buy plenty of cheap player. If you do that, it means you are trying to be a middle tier club. Player like demba ba/papis cisse is a big gamble. If you buy them to be part of your rotation then fine, if you want them to be your main guy then you are actually joking. Arsenal has rvp, mu has rooney, Totehnham has adebayor, city has aguero.All of them are world class player, we need a player to be able to compete against them.

I think I mentioned this couple months ago, Danny will not play as CF. With one striker system, you need a striker who can hold the ball and link up with other player. These are not danny strength, he is a runner so he should stick on playing on the wing.

We can speculate who should we buy but in the end it really depends on who our manager is for next season. Is it going to be rdm who like to play 4-2-3-1, is it somebody else who want to play 4-4-2 (Which mean we need to buy another striker) ? If malouda and kalou leaves this summer, we will definitely need wingers. I don't think kdb,stud and ramires are good enough. Same for midfield if essien and meireles leave we will need new mid, because right now we have plenty of mid even though imo they are not good enough.

I really like modric, but he is really expensive, if we got him instead of meireles, I am sure that AVB will still have his job. I heard MVla is really good mid with passing ability, but I have never watched him play.

I really like mata, he is probably our best player right now but I don't think I want him to be my best player, I want him to be our 3rd best player. (I think when we signed torres, He is supposed to be our no 1 or 2 but It does not look like it's going to happen). Imo we need two more key players in order for us to compete in UCL and PL next season. I agree Cabaye will not come cheap and like I said I really like him, if we can get him , I'll be very happy but I don't think he should be our priority.

Everybody mention cabaye, I like cabaye but he is another box to box. What we need is a passer who can help to create chance from mid. But again it depend who is our manager and what brand of football that he want to play. Btw I can't wait for next season. We have played plenty boring and awful games this season. There is no point comparing two players in two different eras, everything is different so there is absolutely no point. Btw there is not such thing as single handedly winning the league/cup in football. Football is a team game, you need your teammate probably more than any game. Can Maradona score a goal by passing 3-4 players ? yes he can, but can he do that every single game ? Can he stop other team from scoring ? Does he need his teammate to open up space for him and pass him the ball ? In football it's better to have 11 good player rather than 1 great player and 10 crappy players. Because their system does not require the midfielder to be very special. Since the first time I watched manu their play depend on two very good winger and they have plenty of good wingers. And btw scholes and giggs are still very good player because they are technical player which mean they don't lose their skill like lampard and essien does

I really want to back rdm for full time manager for next season but I just can't. He has done tremendous job getting result for us and getting good result while u are playIng badly is a trait of a good manager but I have never seen us playing well under rdm. More importantly this summer is a very important summer for us and I still don't trust rdm to do the job.

Although our chance to beat barca is slim, we still have good chance. Barca defense for some reason always give other team one or two easy chance acore. Furthermore Milan showed that barca is very vurnerable in the air. Milan kept playing long ball to ibra and it caused them big problem. On the other side, Can we defend against them, i am not sure. A lot of people said mikel was motm against benfica, but if he give the same time and space to messi like the one he gave to aimar, we are toasted. In the end it's a good test for our team. Awful performance and we are lucky to win. They did not theathen us becuse they loses one player very early in the game and we could not find the second goal to kill the game. For benfica fans in this forum, ucl is an annual competition so if you think the ref costed u, come back stronger next year
