Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that German international Marko Marin will join the club in the summer from Werder Bremen. In a statement released this afternoon, the club announced both teams 'have agreed a fee and the 23-year-old midfielder has agreed personal terms', and is expected to complete his transfer prior to Euro 2012. Marin, who last month turned 23, has made 16 international appearances - scoring a single goal - and though he has found it difficult to secure a consistent position in Bremen's team this season due to injury, the diminutive midfielder played a starring role in the German's side 2-2 draw with Tottenham last year, scoring the equaliser. Though the details of the transfer have yet to be disclosed, Marin's signing is estimated to have cost between £8-£10 million. Rumours suggest that Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku may be heading the other way as he seeks to gain valuable top flight experience as part of a loan deal. Marin is predominantly an attacking midfielder but he can operate out wide, also. Since 2009/10, only two players have provided more assists in the Bundesliga than Marin's 24, demonstrating his creative prowess. Everyone at TalkChelsea.net wishes Marko the best of luck in his remaining time at Bremen, and we all look forward to seeing him in blue next term. You can discuss the player's arrival here
