If you feel comfortable having a Manchester United player's name on the back of your shirt, then be my guest. Me, I'm not comfortable with it. It's my shirt, that I purchased with my money, so I can do what I bloody well like with it - and also because I like the shirt and want to wear it. If it had Mata's name on still it'd probably be given to charity, so I decided to remove his name.

Different story altogether for Drogba. A club legend who has hardly joined what we'd call a rival club. I still wear his shirt with pride, as I will do with my Lampard, Cech, Terry, Essien shirts.
-
Hope that isn't a pop at me. I don't think it's appropriate wearing a shirt with the name of a player who has left to join a rival club!

Yeah, people are outraged over the sale of Mata, but Lampard leaving will trump even Cech and Drogba. The only one who eclipses them all is JT... that will be a painful one.

Managed to get the name off mine! That's why I'm site admin, bitches -
Greatest player in the history of the club. The reaction over a substitute (Mata) leaving has been incredible; I think this place will suffer a meltdown when Lamps leaves.

Spurs it is then.
-
Damn, you signed Hazard as well?
-
Not as far as I'm aware...

He says this an awful lot, that's he is supposedly not scared of the competition. I think he's Petrified by it. :tophat:

If we're measuring overall contribution in a Chelsea shirt, Essien far exceeds anything Mata achieved for us. Like you say, though he is sadly well past his best and injuries have taken their toll, he's been an incredible servant and I wish him nothing but the best for the future. Very, very proud to have watched him play for this club.
-
He'll be offered one, of course he will. Having his best season since 08/09, been an absolute rock.
-
I'm hoping this is the case. But if the fee has been accepted, it's out of our hands.
-
Useful little player, and a wonderful piece of business to bring in a 21-year-old for such a nominal transfer fee.
-
With Torres out, if Ba goes we will definitely be bringing a forward in.
-
Behave lad, Tiago was a quality squad player.
-
We'd destroy his development. Barkley is the first English player I've seen in a long time, probably since Rooney, who has the potential to actually be something special. Not jumped up little bastards like Walcott and Wilshere, who were the subjects of numerous media wankfests. This kid is a real talent and we'd only stifle him if he came here.
-
So, because you're older and live in London, you're a better fan? Okay. I'm done here. Anyway, back on topic folks.
-
Haha, I thrive on days like this. Let it rain!
-
I'm pissed off you call yourself a "Chelsea fan", because you make me embarrassed to do the same. Pathetic.

With Juan Mata's imminent departure to Manchester United for a whopping £37 million filling up the Chelsea coffers, it is clear that there will be funds for José Mourinho to further bolster his squad. However, according to the Daily Star, one of Mourinho's priority targets - Jackson Martinez - looks set to snub a move to the Premier League after being offered a lucrative new deal to stay at the Portuguese club. Martinez, who was also being monitored by Arsenal, has impressed with 15 goals already this season. Mourinho will now have to look elsewhere. One player who was also high on Mourinho's list over the summer was Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, but the Daily Mirror are reporting that Chelsea's sale of Mata to United will actually encourage the England star to stay. Rooney has gone on record in recent times to express his dismay at a lack of stellar signings arriving at Old Trafford, but the transfer of Mata is said to have opened up contract talks between the club and player. However, despite these rumoured rebuttals, the British newspapers are this morning full of supposed incomings at Stamford Bridge. Foremost amongst those rumours is Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Salah, who netted three goals in four appearances against the Blues in 2013, including the winner in the most recent encounter between the two sides. Salah is a hard-working player able to operate either out wide or as a number 10, and would offer an excellent squad option for Mourinho as he looks to replace Mata on the Chelsea bench. Liverpool are also rumoured to be highly interested, but it is imagined the Blues will be able to out-do any financial offer the Merseysiders can offer. Another such name being bandied about is England international Ross Barkley, who has been the stand-out player at Everton this season. Mourinho is said to be concerned about the lack of homegrown players in the Chelsea squad, whilst believing Barkley's natural box-to-box style would compliment the Blues' system more so than that of Juan Mata. It is the broadsheet The Telegraph that has brought this rumour to light - and they also suggest that the Blues may return to an early transfer target in Fredy Guarian should they fail to secure a midfielder from elsewhere. Guarin, who is rated at £8 million, saw a move to Juventus break down last week. Twitter was awash with rumours that the Blues would use the funds from Juan Mata's transfer to trigger Diego Costa's release clause, but The Express has quashed this - though, quoting Atletico Madrid boss Diego SImeone's recent television interview with Cuatro, it is believed Atletico may be willing to part with the player if his £32 million buy-out clause is met.
