  1. http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3616192/title/cech-the-clean-sheet-king It's 150 according to the Premier League, who require a keeper to play 70 minutes to claim a clean sheet - which would mean he actually only has 206 clean sheets, which, as we all know, is incorrect. Chelsea have it down as 153 in the league. 153 EPL - 13 FA Cup - 37 UCL/UEL- 6 COC
  2. Well, no. Because Matic was pretty darn average whenever he played for us. He barely got a look in while Josh and Kakuta played a fair amount instead. Shows how much Carlo rated him that he sent him off on loan after we'd just got rid of three CMs in Cole, Ballack and Deco in the summer of 2010.
  3. Nemanja Matic looks set to become Chelsea's first signing of the January transfer window - potentially rejoining the club he left in 2011. The Serbian midfielder had a frustrating first spell in West London, making just three substitute appearances under Carlo Ancelotti - before he was shipped off as a make-weight in the Blues' eventual capture of David Luiz three years ago. But it is believed that Blues boss José Mourinho is a fan of Matic, and wants to add the Serb to his collection of central midfielders, with the Serb's representatives supposedly flying into London to finalise a deal. Indeed, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo this morning said a deal was close to being announced. Matic arrived in London in 2009 for a fee of around £1.5 million from Kosice, but after failing to make a case for himself in the club's Double-winning season, he was farmed off on loan to Dutch side Vitesse, where he impressed on a 12-month loan deal. Matic featured against the Blues in both legs of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash between the two sides, and again in Amsterdam in 2013 as the Portuguese club were beaten by a Branislav Ivanovic header in the Europa League final. With Michael Essien struggling for form and fitness and Frank Lampard out for the foreseeable future, Matic's impending arrival will help shore up an area where the Blues have been decidedly short in recent times - with Luiz, ironically, the man being required to feature there as a stop-gap option. Though Serbia failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Matic featured in several of his nation's qualifiers, despite a public spat with coach Siniša Mihajlović, who later left his role due to Serbia's aforesaid failure to qualify. Despite not quite being able to secure a berth at international level, Matic has established himself under Jorge Jesus at Benfica, making close to 100 appearances during his spell. In three seasons in the Portuguese capital, the Serb has developed into one of European football's foremost talents in a defensive-midfield capacity, whilst his eye for a spectacular goal or two - including this spectacular effort against FC Porto last season: The deal is expected to be announced very soon - and you can follow the very latest in Matic's transfer discussion thread. 4. Eto'o - £135,000 a week, £19,285 a day, £803.57 an hour, £13.39 a minute
  5. I see your point, but entertainment doesn't always equate to winning. If winning isn't important, then why do we keep the score? "Playing the best football in the league" is a consolation title that doesn't compare to FA Cups, Champions League and league titles that are won regardless of the type of football, provided the result is in the bag. You get the same amount of points for winning 1-0 as you do 8-0. But I won't lie to you - I'm a goalkeeper - I prefer winning a game 1-0 than 5-4, and I always will.
  6. No, that's you trying to negate someone's argument by simply jumping to extremes, which sadly doesn't always work. Lionsden is simply making a point that Cech deserves to be treated fairly and not just cast aside like a leper. It isn't a simple case of "yeah, let's just sell Cech". I see what you're saying in regards to sentiment. This is a decision for José to make, and I don't envy him.
  7. They should re-sign Wayne Bridge then!
  8. Just double-checked and we're both wrong: he's now on 153. Wowzers. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/10548481/Petr-Cech-It-will-be-an-honour-when-I-beat-Peter-Bonettis-Chelsea-clean-sheet-record.html
  9. Yeah, because Man City need more left-backs. Utter cunts.
  10. 1. James - 169, in 579 games. 2. Cech - 153, in 312 games. 3. Schwarzer - 149, in 504 games. It's amazing that two of the greatest ever goalkeepers in the history of the league have played for us.
  11. Because some people like their privacy to remain intact. I, on the other hand, advertise my name, location, place of study... come at me, internet stalkers!
  12. If I'm at home, I try and get them done within an hour of the game finishing
  13. If Dortmund want him, they can have him in exchange for Gundogan or Reus. Ta very much.
  14. United always play better against the bigger sides, I wouldn't be surprised if they nick a point. This is football after all. Form goes out of the window in these big clashes.
  15. Indeed, our greatest-ever goalkeeper, and arguably one of our greatest-ever players.
  16. Cech and Lampard both on 209 now
  17. Hull City 0-2 Chelsea (Hazard 56', Torres 86'). Petr Cech recorded a club-record 209th clean sheet as Chelsea secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Hull City - moving top of the Premier League table in the process. The Czech custodian was severely underemployed on a day where he had the opportunity to overtake Peter Bonetti as Chelsea’s leading goalkeeper in terms of shut-outs, as his side eased to victory at the KC Stadium. Hull, who had conceded just six goals all season in home league fixtures, were indebted to goalkeeper Alan McGregor for a brace of outstanding saves as the teams went into the break level – but the Blues once again turned things up a notch or two after the interval. Recent wins at Southampton and Derby have been secured through dominant second half showings, and that was once again the case as first Eden Hazard jinked his way past a host of defenders before lashing the ball beyond McGregor to hand Chelsea the lead, before Fernando Torres made it two goals in as many starts in 2014 as he sealed the win late on. With Manchester City not playing until Sunday, and current league leaders Arsenal away to Aston Villa on Monday evening, this was the opportunity for José Mourinho’s side to go top of the Premier League – at least temporarily, anyway. And whilst they were somewhat lethargic in an uninspiring first half, the Blues again demonstrated their title credentials with a comprehensive attacking performance, within which Eden Hazard was once more the star performer. The Belgian’s eleventh goal of the season – and ninth in the league, equalling his total for the whole of last season – was as good as any he has previously netted in Chelsea blue; this time bamboozling defender after defender with an explosion of pace and trickery - before thumping a finish into the bottom corner. Torres, again industrious, may not have enjoyed one of his most emphatic Chelsea performances, but his late strike was clinically taken and was a deserved reward for a battling showing against a five-man Hull City rearguard. It was that tight defensive unit that has lifted Hull away from the relegation zone, and particularly at home, the Tigers have been miserly in recent victories over the Blues’ West London neighbours Fulham, and also title-chasing Liverpool, who they demolished 3-1 last month. That imperious record looked set to continue as the Blues toiled in breaking down such a stubborn defence until the final few minutes of the half, when McGregor found himself the far busier of the two goalkeepers. The Scottish international first produced a miraculous point-blank save as Oscar, played in through clever combination play between Hazard and the returning Ashley Cole, unleashed a fearsome drive from ten yards out, only for the keeper to palm the ball over the bar. Later tested by a dipping David Luiz free-kick, the hosts were no doubt indebted to the Scot for maintaining parity as the teams went in level at the break. Chelsea emerged with renewed vigour, and moments after Luiz had again been denied by a sprawling McGregor with another knuckling free-kick, the visiting side took the lead through Hazard’s breath-taking strike. That goal only evoked further positive play from the Blues, with Willian, brimming with confidence after a string of impressive individual performances over recent weeks, went close with a free-kick from an improbably angle after Ramires had been hacked down near the corner flag. Willian had been one of the central figures in Chelsea’s recent demolition of Southampton, and he almost turned provider once more as his clever shift fooled Maynor Figueroa. His cross was perfectly waited, but Oscar – fated not to score, it seems – was once again denied by Hull City heroics; this time captain Curtis Davies flinging himself in front of the ball as the diminutive Brazilian looked to finish the game off. But it was only to be a matter of time before the inevitable clincher arrived, and once again it was Fernando Torres, so often the scourge of Hull City in the past, who arrowed a smart finish beyond McGregor with 86 minutes played to send Chelsea top of the table. With the Blues’ fellow title-chasers not in action until Sunday and Monday respectively, this – potentially brief – spell at the top at least reinforces the notion that Mourinho’s side are most definitely pushing through the gears. Another impressive away result, coupled with another goal for the Premier League’s most outstanding player at present, represents Mourinho throwing the gauntlet at the feet of Messrs Pellegrini and Wenger. Chelsea, next weekend, turn their attentions to seventh-placed Manchester United, who, at the time of writing, sit twelve points off the Blues and the top of the table. A sixth straight win in all competitions would most certainly rubber-stamp Chelsea as one of the favourites for the title.
  18. Oh no, I totally agree with that. My point is people shouldn't care, because it doesn't affect them in any way if a person is gay, straight, bi, or otherwise. But sadly people make a big deal out of it, and in the end is requires bravery like this to come out.
  19. No, it definitely is the right attitude. Exactly the same as it is the right attitude not to give a fuck about someone's religion, for instance. The only reason why people face discrimination is because of a narrow-minded majority who do make an issue out of it.
