Highly-rated Croatian midfield sensation Mario Pasalic has joined Chelsea for a fee close to £3 million. The German-born midfielder enjoyed a wonderful first season in the professional game as he netted eleven times in 36 club appearances for Hadjuk Split, with the highlight coming in a 2-1 away triumph over city rivals RNK Split, where he scored both of his team's goals. Pasalic, 19, was included in Croatia's prelimary 30-man World Cup squad, but just missed out on being called up to the final 23-man roster by Niko Kovač. It is widely touted that the young attacking midfielder, who idolises former Blues number 8 Frank Lampard, will return on loan to Hadjuk for the coming season, but he will most likely be included in Chelsea's pre-season European tour beforehand.

Not been so excited about a signing in years. Think this surpasses the Hazard signing, who we all knew would take time to settle. You know what you're getting with Cesc - a world-class, proven, homegrown Premier League player. So fucking excited to see him start games for us. Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson has joined Sheffield Wednesday, the club's Twitter page has confirmed. Hutchinson announced his premature retirement from football in 2010 following a serious of knee operations, but, in a story broken by TalkChelsea, the player made an unlikely comeback in 2011 after twelve months of extensive physiotherapy work. He made his competitive return in 2012, coming on as a substitute in a 6-1 mauling of Queens Park Rangers. Yet further injury concerns hampered otherwise productive loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Vitesse, and despite a series of strong performances for Wednesday last season in a short-term loan deal, Chelsea took the decision not to renew the defender's contract. Hutchinson made six appearances for the Blues - including two starts - in his injury-hit spell, but it is for the admirable character he has displayed in making his comeback that he is to be so warmly regarded for. His best moment in a Chelsea shirt came in April 2010, when he supplied a raking cross from deep that Frank Lampard flicked in during a 7-0 thrashing of Stoke City: Everyone at TalkChelsea wishes Sam the very best of luck - and health - for the future, and that he, from this point onwards, enjoys a long and fruitful career, for there is no young man more deserving.
