Lot of reports saying we are after a wide player, I hope Zaha is miles off any list. Would be such a shite signing, one of the pettiest and most overrated PL players of the past 10 years. But it does scream Potter and Boehly all over it, doesn't it?
-
The same way the ultra defensive and counter attacking system didn't harm the likes of Falcao, Costa, Turan, Griezmann, Koke and even Saul for a while though either did it? Even their fullbacks such as Juanfran and Filipe Luis who were pretty effective going forward also? Its selective but those guys made it work and were excellent players.

Sometimes it doesn’t work out or sometimes people get overly excited. Which I think was the case with Felix initially - although no doubt there is a good player in there - he’s never really set the world alight compared to that one year in Benfica. Another inconsistent player. Be interesting to see how it works out.
-
Would actually start him. 100%. I mean he cant be any fucking worse than the German fella we play there every game, masquerading as a professional footballer. In fact in the limited minutes v City he looked like he could physically cause problems despite still being quite raw. He would of maybe had a goal or at least a half decent chance had Hutchinson played him in the other night.
-
So what wait to the summer and miss out on him all together? And not sign a MFer? I love how optimistic people are to still think we have a chance of getting him at all now. We made an arse of it - Benfica will not negotiate with us unless we pay €120mn and I would imagine that come the summer they will willingly be awkward with us, even more so considering the fact that the player will have multiple choices. I would like to think the club has some sort of contingency plan - although to be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t.
-
Hes not the problem but he hasn't got any sort of huge response or improvement in a high bulk of the players… and its not like we have 23-25 shite players. He had Brighton doing better with an inferior squad (or did Brighton actually boost his reputation and profile as a manager? Lets not forget the infrastructure and how they are run - there aren’t many better run in the PL) but whys it not translating to higher calibre of players? Is he out of depth? Have managers carried this squad? Some poor players? Are rhe players not having him? A bit of everything? Simon Jordan summed it up correctly today on TalkSport when discussing it “there is language that Potter is using, which isn’t the language of an elite manager at times that does look like he’s a little bit caught in the headlights”. He is caught in the headlights - clearly - or he wouldn’t be popping off at the media and looking extremely under pressure. I think how he comes across in the media is likely how he is with the players. He seems naive. Only just speculating but certainly in the media he seems very naive/illequipped mentally. I reckon that rubs off on the players - genuinely.

So we are going to stump up the 9m + all of Felix’s wages. We need a striker badly but he’s not even a proper CF, fair enough he offers something different but again the one word you’d describe him as is inconsistent. And we have too much of that in attack. No option to buy is risky but apparently they were wanting an obligation to buy from us, Utd or Arsenal and am sure it was around £80m or something daft. Or so it was reported. Personally don’t see him doing enough here to warrant that sort of fee.
-
The times he played he’s looked so average though, I mean in terms of judging the ball in the air, reading the play on the ground etc. He looks like someone who’s career is going to be effectively defined by him relying on his mobility to get him out of trouble if he plays in a high line. For what we paid, he’s never going to be value for money. Like Maguire at Leicester, its fine playing 20m away from your goal. You don’t have the space in behind and you normally have good protection in front. At Chelsea its different when your going to be having to break down teams, one advantage he has is he can carry the ball forward if he plays in a 3 with a bit more protection but we look like we will play a 433/4231 if we stick with Potter so again it remains to be seen how good he can actually be in a higher line in a back 4.
-
His own worst enemy. Actually showed some impressive distribution tonight but then had a nightmare whenever he had to defend. Has been abysmal since he came here, it is actually mental how bad he has been for someone of his ability and experience. Surprised Sky or BBC or other channels haven’t criticised him heavily in the same way they'd gone after Lisandro Martinez (who has been pretty outstanding after a bumpy start I must admit) and others in the past ie David Luiz. Christensen and Rudiger were massive losses as it was, even more so now. Not been impressed with Fofana either when he played at the beginning.
-
I hope Todd Boehly & co are on their fucking hands and knees begging TT to come back next season. I really really do. Absolutely fucking criminal. If we dont get 6/6 points from Fulham and Palace prior to Liverpool coming up then 100% he MUST go (although he should already be going for being significantly out of his depth). Even at the start of the season with Tuchel where we struggled and at times in the previous season, there was much more fight in the squad. The thing is, we may as well start asking the question, who are we going to appoint next? Poch? Zidane? Tuchel? Someone else? Cause lets be honest it wont be long at this rate.
-
Positives? There were 0 positives as a collective. Goals against is goals against. Doesn't matter if its open play, set plays or whatever. If anyone is taking any positives from that tonight then they need their heads checked because it was abysmal. Pretty sure Havertz is in top 5 earners at club. Stealing a wage. Has been for since he came here bar maybe 15 games.
-
Supportive? They were chanting for Thomas Tuchel, Christ Almighty. City barely got out of 3rd gear and they fucking pasted us. Get him out now
-
“So not all bad bad” are you watching a different game? We've had 1 shot on target. We are utter fucking dross. And a lot of this is on the manager’s shoulders, tactically and mentally naive.
-
Yep away end singing for Tuchel, is it fair to say sack Potter and get him back… And penalty now, gonna be 4-0. Abysmal.
-
Selling him maybe harsh but he isn’t quite upto standard for a club of our aspirations yet. Plenty of endeavour but lacks quality.
-
You dont want to watch it trust me. Potter will be gone in February if we keep playing like this. Cannot string more than 3 passes together in the opposition half.
-
Don’t follow at all. Wouldn't affect him personally, he still has to save the ball. Regardless of its a back 7 or a back 3. 1-0 some FK. @Sir Mikel OBE and really? Do better? Did you see where it went ffs 😂
-
Think the goal last game and that moment there only 2 moments. Not sure how thats anything to do with the formation either 🤣 does not the matter formation your only allowed one GK so not following your logic on that….
-
Should have seen it on here when Sarri was manager. Although we got good at it and managed to beat a press playing out - folk still moaned!!
-
Would think that 1 win in whatever amount of PL games its been now at a big club is mainly why he’s getting them questions and people are having doubts. He had the new manager bounce, a couple decent results and then its gone pretty up and down before now going properly downhill. Injuries haven't helped but hardly hindered him when he had a lot of them available either, the performances still weren’t quite up to standard/poor.
-
Shown flashes but if we are going to back Potter just give him the final say.
-
All good saying it in a presser. Maybe showing a bit of a reaction or anger on the touchline would get a reaction in the same way Mourinho, Conte and Tuchel have done so and gotten one. I mean people used to moan about Frank doing very little like that but Potter is just as bad if not worse. Just stands there with his hands in his pockets. Must be incredibly inspiring/motivating when your struggling to see your manger standing there, hands in his pockets conveying no signs of if hes happy/unhappy/whatever. Looking at the teams, can see this being a comfortable game for City. Their 11 is pretty strong still.

Not going to lie just abandoning the second half of the season just because top 4 is highly unlikely would be stupid as fuck. It would also ultimately seal GPs fate as he will undoubtedly get sacked if we don’t make a push for European football of some sort ie. top 6/7 (can’t believe I am typing this as top 4 should be the realistic target). With another coach of a higher experience at this level I think the season could be salvaged but with GP, unfortunately, I think it’s incredibly unlikely. He is far too naive. The pressure is on him and I think that last presser where he said ‘the presses questions were stupid but he has to answer them’ shows how incredibly naive he is at this level. Not to mention the players mentality and work ethic under him in games. If Mourinho, Conte, Tuchel, Ancelotti or any other manager got asked those same set of questions, I guarantee they wouldn’t of come out with such a babyish response. He cannot just afford to go ok lets play the kids every week and not try and establish his philosophy and tactics with the first team players he likes because whatever he’s been doing so far, it hasn’t really worked and I am not fully buying this injuries being the only reason. Plus recruiting is going to be a disaster with no European football and a manager who is looking more and more out of his depth. Plus putting too much responsibility or pressure on Hutchison and Chukwameka so soon and expecting them to “save us money in the summer” would also be idiotic. They’re still young and highly inexperienced as professional footballers. They haven’t accumulated the experience Mount, James, Tammy, Tomori etc did at lower levels/playing games. We’ve all seen how boys like McEachran and even Hudson-Odoi have played out in recent times. Personally, although it may not of seemed that way in the past, Foden at City in recent times has been the best example of a player from an academy going straight into their first 11 without a loan. He played sporadically then built up, and now he is 1) experienced enough and 2) mentally ready to be relied on heavily.
-
Its not happening. Jesus Christ. No way we get other players in by paying €120mn for 1 player. There is no wriggle room after the last kamikaze negotiations done by Boehly & co.
-
Yeah hes so average but available on a free in 6 months so watch us sign him….
