I posted something about formations I think we could use instead of the 4-2-3-1 in the formation and tactics thread... http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/13970-formation-and-tactics-discussion/page__st__18 Cba going and copy and pasting it

4-1-4-1 4-4-1-1, bit more advanced though I'll explain. Effectively Mata is a left winger and Hazard is in the number 10 position. Ramires is more of a wide midfielder, Mikel sitting slightly deeper and Oscar just a CM. Mata and Hazard could interchange positions (similar to what Inter Milan's Ricardo Alvares and Wesley Sneidjer did in this formation under Andrea Stramaccioni in May when Inter beat AC Milan 4-2.) If they both end up in central positions the team can switch to 4-3-2-1 or a 4-3-3 basically with Ramires coming inside as a box to box midfielder. Also if we occupy the build up play more to the left with Hazard and Mata interchanging, we could then spray the ball to right into space catching teams out (hopefully) where our right back could go and deliver the ball in to the box. Kind of links on with the bit I just mentioned, if we had a right back like Dani Alves or Maicon we could play a 4-4-1-1 but with 3 central midfielders in Ramires, Mikel and Oscar, the ball could come inside to either Oscar, Mikel and Ramires and then to the right back who could go further up and provide a cross/shoot for goal as Ramires isn't the greatest crosser in the world. (Similar to what Inter did with Zanetti coming inside more and Maicon having all the right flank to himself.) Also it enables us to get more bodies into the box if we have a third central midfielder spare rather than having a winger and full back both in the flank. Just an idea, read about Stramaccioni's tactic vs Milan and wondered if we could use it but for a start we'd need a more attacking right back with pace, good delivery and stamina being able to go back and fourth easily. http://www.zonalmarking.net/2012/05/07/inter-4-2-milan-inter-build-up-play-down-the-left-then-spread-it-to-the-right/

I was watching some Real Madrid highlights of Sahin from last season, he actually makes vital tackles and gets quite a few interceptions as well as playing good long passes from deep. I'd imagine he'd be a good buy for us but I don't think Robbie will go for him, unless Spurs want him then we can pip AVB to him. Also he played in a 4-2-3-1 at Dortmund & Real so its not really a new formation he will have to adapt to.

Hes a proper out and out winger, apparently able to play upfront but I've never seen it. He can play both sides as well as he has done for Wigan. If we sign Moses and get Lukaku playing good, imagine them 2 beasts up top outmuscling everyone

HAHAHAHA ASHLEY COLE, WORLDS BEST LB AND FUNNIEST TWEETER
-
Also against Arsenal under Robbie he played quite good, completed more or less all his passes a part from a few. If we were to play a fluid 4-3-3, Romeu has to be given the nod ahead of Mikel as he was basically brought up playing in a fluent 4-3-3, where as Mikel clearly struggled in a fluid 4-3-3 for us last season.

Essien and Meireles put themselves about and have plenty of experience compared to Josh. Anyway under AVB Josh played good in those Carling Cup games. AVB's philosophy seemed better suited for Josh, same with Romeu. I just hope he goes on loan this year to a decent club who play decent enough football (maybe Brighton, Blackpool, Wigan or a lower league Spanish club )

Wouldn't even say hes worth 10 million. Very average.
-
Hes still got time though, he can still work on his strength and turn himself into a much moree physical player. I'm sure a few players in the squad will have to work on their strength and resistance sooner or later as they are as thin as twigs!
-
He did for a Marcelo hand ball I think.
-
Anyone got a video of his touches of the ball or his penalty?
-
Lool, its a draw so far anyway
-
He has actually looked not bad in the Olympics! Whats with the hate for him haha?
-
-
2-2 Neymar converts the penalty.
-
I'd compare him to Sergi Roberto because he doesn't get a game either. Tbh I hope De Bruyne comes back from Bremen next season and slots in to our team, as I reckon (don't kill me or that ) that Lampard won't get a contract extension and will leave.... just what I think.

Fuck you Manpe, let the voters vote!!! Just because your leading

I did that when the Euros was on. Criticized Mario "the donkey" Gomez against Holland and he goes and scores 2. Then Theo Walcott before he came on against Sweden and he scored.... was like what the fuck

Whole team basically was mate.

Have to be honest, Oscar has got to start in Lampard or Ess' role if hes going to be used as a CM. Lampard and Ess slowed everything good (wasn't much but yeah...) we did down today. Lamp's goal was good but everything else he did was very average, slowed everything down along with Essien. The one Lamps picked up and played to Torres was an example, say Hazard, Mata or Ramires had the ball in that position they would of took the defender on and shot. If Lampard is going to be the "heart" of the midfield this season we are done for. We are trying to play nice passing football but we can't when every time him or Essien gets the ball takes about 40 touches and then passes it. If we're gonna play 4-3-3 Ramires has got to be in the midfield 3 as well rather than the front 3. I'd personally go for Mikel, Ramires and Oscar in the midfield 3 tbh, Oscar can dictate the tempo and be the deeper lying playmaker, Mikel as the holding man and Ramires being a box to box player where he can attack and defend. For the Community Shield we will have to improve but since a trophy is on offer I'm sure they will, we'll see though.

Hopefully we play much much much better vs City. If not we are fucked against them.

3-1.
