  1. Perhaps but Sarri really wanted Higuain in the summer and didnt get him because the board wouldn't approve the move and wanted him to persist wih Morata so he went to Milan instead. Not saying he would of done any better but would of rathered him here then rather than when he came here extremely unfit in January. Signing him in January was a mistake looking back at it. If we got him in the summer he could of done pre-season here and been a lot lot fitter which might of helped him and us but even then his 6 month loan was underwhelming.
  2. Disagree, Allegri could do it I really think. Really good managers could probably achieve top 4 with this squad although its clear we need some big reinforcements because the top 2 will get further away and I imagine Arsenal and Spurs will also spend on players to improve. We need to be more competitive and strengthen areas of the squad but if we had a transfer window even with Hazard going, we could become a better balanced team. Although we are banned from signing anyone but still think a very good manager could achieve top 4, would just have to be better in bigger games. I mean cmon we won a league with Moses and Alonso as wingbacks, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as CBs. If a very good coach can do that, must be enough optimism to say we can get top 4 with this squad surely? Although we are a top CF and an Eden calibre of player short.
  3. Rumours at first up here in Scotland was that this document waa a fake. Although Celtic released a statement so maybe its not but still his name being scribbled off means nothing, we could have agreed to loan him elsewhere and after the whole Charly Musonda loan, possible we dont want to send him to Celtic.
  4. Unrealistic or realisitic it means nothing. What if their related to Reals CL and La Liga standings and they have a stinker this next season? Should have got paid the full amount upfront, they really wanted him, he wanted to go cant see the logic in taking add ons when Zidane is desperate to get Eden as opposed to the full fee upfront, if anything weve done them a favour. Thank fuck Moratas add on clauses probably never happened.
  5. Too soft mentally. Even at Atletico it will get tough if he goes on a barren run. Its odd the guy has shown he has great ability when he plays confidently but hasnt got the right mentality which is more important in football. Was Conte's tactics fault first and now the fans and medias fault.... toughen up man.
  6. £88.5m with performance based add ons? What a joke, theres no guarantee we will ever get that full £130m. Wasnt it not £130m we wanted to start with? What the fuck is Marina playing at? Turned down 65m for Willian but is willing to let Eden go for £23.5m more upfront and performance related add ons that may never come to fruition? She needs a headcheck. Or sacked.
  7. 100m is a joke. We wanted 120/130m, stick to our guns. Real if they really want him will pay. If we are going to reject 65m for Willian then we should definitely reject 100m for Hazard. If they wont pay it well tough shit not our problem. Doubt they will wait another year to get him for free aged 29.
  8. Part of running the club but hardly a huge thing in the overall scheme of things. Theres much more to a football club than just the footballing aspects. Even then a sporting director is a pointless position if the manager wants to deal with transfers. Hardly a huge sign of change is it if we change manager and get someone who wants to pick his own targets?
  9. Sporting director is barely running the club 🤣 If it was CEO or his position was on the board etc yes I would agree but sporting director is just a sporting director. He may he involved with potential signings (although again theres been a rumor he isnt going to have a complete say regarding transfers still) and a link with the manager and Marina but still hes hardly gonna have a colossal influence. We do need restructuring again but we need people who know what their doing, regardless of who they are.
  10. Have to agree but still think that Allegri should be the priority regardless of transfer ban. Think his tactical flexibility would be ideally suited to this squad and the PL. There is one thing that I am unsure about regarding Allegri other than the faft he will have other offers is how intense he is as a coach regardless of philosophy. A good example of this is Pep when he left Bayern and was replaced by Ancelotti, Bayern bemoaned a lack of intensity and challenge which ended up in Ancelotti being dismissed eventually and I think Sarri is another intense coach so that could maybe be a bit of an issue as Allegri is another guy who is a lot more chilled out. I think Juve fans were a bit concerned after he replaced Conte with this too, although they were disappointed with his appointment at first. Even then I think it could not necessarily be a big fuss but just something Id be maybe consider as a downside to Allegri, if you want to call it that. Some of these players need to be driven, pushed, provoked to do better. Especially a large quantity of the squad who have disappointed over the last few sessons. Although Allegri has won 5 Serie A titles in a row so maybe I am just thinking too much into it.
  11. Well to requote, you said you believe the board would be willing to give him extra time. Okay you didny say it but you beliebe the board would be willing to? Basically? Cmon we seen it with Villas-Boas before who again had just won a treble with Porto the previous season... there is no such thing as properly giving a manager time here. Again though, my question is what does Franks playing career have to remotedly do with his managerial career? He knows the club yes being a legend here but it has no other bearing on anything. Appointing Cech barely signals a change in direction, we didnt replace Emenalo who was basically sporting director, didnt manage to get Campos or Monchi in who were previously linked (even then who knows did we even go for them?) so I would hardly say appointing Cech is a massive change. Its a position that has needed filled since Emenalo left clearly based on some of the dross weve signed over the years. Just because the club wants to do what the likes of other clubs have been doing for years, keep integrating ex players and club legends into its running in some capacity its barely anything revelutionary or cutting edge, clubs have been doing it for years. Even then we have got ex players and have had them involved in some capacity: Jody Morris, Carlo Cudicini, Paulo Ferreira, Henrique Hilario, Joe Cole, Tore Andre Flo, Gianfranco Zola, Andy Myers off the top of my head all involved in different capacities at the club. Its hardly a signal of change is it when weve been doing it before across the board?
  12. His playing career should have no bearing on his managerial career at all... if he comes in doesnt do well he doesnt deserve a tonne more time because hes Frank Lampard... ridiculous. Weve binned top managers such as Ancelotti - who has achieved more than most in the modern game - for finishing 2nd. Also Robbie Di Matteo, not a top manager fair enough but a hugely popular ex player who won a CL and FA cup the previous season sas sacked after 6 months. Why does Lampard deserve special treatment based on his playing career? He will know the risks coming into it if we go for him. To get sentimental and use his playing career as a gambit for much more time than others who have done tenfold that what he has as a manager? Would be crazy. Regarding Eddie Howe, he is a decent coach but nothing more. He has done well in the football leagues and has earned his place in the PL though. Hes still got enough time to get a bigger club but he would need to do a lot better next season at Bournemouth and have a really good year considering biggish outlays on players such as Ake, Lerma, Jordon Ibe, David Brooks, Dom Solanke, Lloyd Kelly over the years for a club like Bournemouth. For instance if he had spent that sort of cash at the likes of an Everton he would probably get slated for finishing once in the top ten.
  13. And why would he be so hellbent on leaving....? He was desperate to come here last summer and sourly severed his ties with a club which are his boyhood team. I dont think Juventus solely batting their eyelids at him is enough for him to just want to leave, okay they are in better condition than us, better run, better squad etc....the talk of family reasons (think thats bullshit because over 65% of the PL players and managers are foreign and in the same scenario)... but yes the transfer ban, all the fan discontent towards him, lack of support from the board after reportey asking for reassurances in his meeting, lets not take that into consideration and just say hes hellbent on leaving for other reasons. The way this club is run and his relationship with the board and the fans is undoubtedly one of main reason why he is hellbent on leaving and rightly so. He would probably be a fool to stay actually all things considered although I think there is a percentage who do want him to stay, myself included.
  14. He said a week ago he wanted to stay at Chelsea though. If the club really wanted him to stay and had made a sufficient effort, why has he asked to leave? Family reasons for me doesnt cut it, this is a smokescreen in my eyes. He wanted reassurances regarding support, he wouldnt be asking to leave if they had said theyd stand by him and made assurances. Fair enough Juventus are massive and wouldnt be surprised but its very weird for a manager to say one week before he wants to stay at Chelsea, in the PL, then to go and change his tune after winning a European trophy and finishing 3rd, isnt it (having only lost 2 games in the last 20 as well)? Even then its reported hes not even Juventus' first choice... they want him, true but they wanted Poch and Pep before. Transfer ban or not, still, after saying that comments to change his mind a week after? Screams that the club havent tried hard enough or he remains unconvinced by what they said. Where as in comparison the club were stern with Hazard and Willian going in the summer. Says a lot when theyd put more effort into retaining Willian than trying to retain the manager. Just shows where we are at. The fan thing hasnt helped, its fair to say some dislike him and the booing Jorginho, him, his subs and chanting fuck Sarriball is proof along with the 2 protests. The whole fan discontent thing with Rafa prompted him to not even think about staying on after that interim spell as Jose was only confirmed to leave Real in April that season, Rafa came in around the end of November. So why stay and try prove yourself when your own team fans and the media have basically even after playing Ruben and Callum still slaughter you? It obviously has a bearing on the thinking and that coupled with what I think regarding the clubs effort to "convince" him to stay if we can call it that, surely any sane person would weigh that up. Id still be surprised if Lampard, whos probably the bookies favorite, (who the majority seem to think will come in and play all the academy boys, which is naivety at its finest, change of manager is gonna give all these average players another chance) comes in and does any better without Hazard (if he does if he comes in, I will eat humble pie). I honestly think we will have another similar season unless we improve the first 11 somehow, regardless of if its Sarri, Lampard, Allegri, Nuno... whoever in charge.
  15. Would be interesting and would be for it although he would need to be fully given the trust to continue from the stage we are at. Leeds played some class football this season but also had a dip, reckon hed probably get similar treatment to Sarri as there quite similar in a way. Both stubborn, both have uncompromising philosophies, both have ran a group of 14 or 15 players into the ground due to lack of rotations and intense training routines.... plus Bielsa would be insistent on more control in the transfer side of things hence why he left Lazio because they failed to sign 4 out of 7 players he demanded before pre season started. He would probably demand the club get rid of some more experienced/squad/loan players though like he did at Lille but that ended up in a disaster for him and Lille too. His spell at Bilbao was impressive though, really was.
  16. When have the fans ever protested here in the last 10 or 15 years other than when we appointed Rafa? So twice in a season is bad enough and considering it was quite daft and a by product of poor form too shows exactly where we are at. I doubt anyone cares about the online stuff but the studd you see some of these people go to the games and the booing and whatever else weve also heard this season is quite pathetic, particularly when Jorginho was bood.... Plus you were saying that the protests regarding CHO and RLC prompted him to play them to "save his job".... the alarm bells should be there, theyve been for a few seasons regardless but if someone like Sarri, a guy who we went through the ringer to appoint, doesnt want to be here because he hasnt got the necessary backing or whatever then what does that say about the club? This is a guy who has no interest in the transfer market as he said himself but again, he wants the club to back his stance on how he manages the players and how the team plays... shouldnt that not be a given at a club anyway? Also if the board werent going to sack Sarri, which I agree on after the ending to the season, they should throw their weight behind him and convince him they want him to stay but they havent, theyve probably not even tried. Even during the dip, similarly like with Villas-Boas, the club had every chance to show they backed him or show some sort of indication they supported him publically but they didnt (and no not actually sacking him is hardly the true show of support I was talking about). These sacking rumours didnt go away and ultimately now Sarri will probably have the last laugh because he will likely go to Juventus, which right now is a better job at a much better run club where hes actually wanted and will be given full support. Theres been alarm bells for years but to let a manager go due to his request as he hasnt felt hes recieved the adequate backing and support throughout the season.... what sort of imagine does that paint to his successor?
  17. Laurent Blanc, no thank you. If it happened would support him but he is a very average manager, hence why he hasnt worked since 2016 and is only linked to caretaker manager jobs when someones getting sacked. Decent spell at Bordeaux before France but PSG with that money and that squad, was inevitable hed win the domestic trophies. Patrick Viera is a wildcard, not sure hes not ready for a bigger job. Hes been a manager for 5 seasons now including reserve and development level at City, 2 seasons in MLS and now has done decent with Nice in his first seasom but maybe top 4 PL club is still a bridge too far and he maybe needs another step. Dont think hed be interested anyway, I reckon Arsenal/City would be who he is more interested in managing some day. Lampard, already mentioned why I wouldnt be overly confident with that move in other threads. I think Allegri will have other offers and the likes of Luis Enrique (would he leave Spain for us though?), Quique Setien, Julen Lopetegui, will all get linked eventually. Along with Eddie Howe and Nuno. Just hopefully no David Wagner this summer.
  18. Juve president is part of the UEFA executive committee. He was more than likely always gonna be there as he will be at the CL final as well I would imagine. The interest from Juve is real though and Sarri is basically off after meeting the club and telling them that he wants to leave. Again regarding Lamps, look at Henry at Monaco, look at Ole at United after being appointed full time. Lack of top level managerial experience among other things. Allegri has to be top target, think he could do well here, hes a lot more flexible tactically and doesnt just have one formation he prefers has used 4312, 4231, 352, 4141/433 throughout his spells with Milan and Juventus. Personally think the club should try persuade Sarri to stay but they are obviously not that fussed so fair enough. Does that mean Zola will leave as well? Allegri would want his full staff undoubtedly.
  19. I think this is massive alarm bells for any manager coming in in the future. Who would want to come into a club where the fans and various media outlets have slaughtered a manaeger despite successfully getting third place and getting to 2 cup finals? People wanted a different style after Conte we got that, now there was a blip mid season but it sorted itself out and we finished strongly. The whole family reasons is a smoke screen for me, why would anybody stay where they clearly arent wanted? Juve really want him.... Marina clearly doesnt seem that fussed either so that shows the mentality of the club at the minute and what they actually think of Sarri. So yeah 100% if it were me or another sane person, theyd be off. He was very clear if his future was hinged on the Europa League final result they should sack him as it would be better for him to go. Actually quite annoyed hes going to leave, he needed time to continue working on our team (like whoever will take over after), hes made big steps in terms of changing the teams playing style and he deserves more time after how the season finished to get us to where he wanted us to be but I do see why he wants to go as well. Think a portion of fans and the media need to have a long long hard look at themselves. Embarrassment to the club and themselves. The club has also got to reevaluate thing upstairs. Good luck to him in the future and hopefully he can start winning more trophies along with implementing his style wherever he goes. That was his one criticism he hasnt won anything but now he has so lets see if he can continue to do so to enhance his reputation.
  20. Precisely. Also Sarri's constant criticism has been he hasnt won anything, but as you said we humiliated Arsenal second half in a Europa League final, playing excellently. He also said in an interview he has to win more trophies now so they dont just say hes won one. I hope he stays for another season at least and can get the team playing more consistent and get another trophy or two, I mean we got to the Carabao Cup final as well this season so why cant we get there again next year or to the FA cup final? As well as a stronger top 4 finish as we wont challenge for the league and having a strong CL run? He deserves every chance to do it.
  21. Then they will complain we are playing dross football.....
  22. Couldnt agree more. Was gonna say he was excellent offensively and defensively, used the ball great and was a key reason as to why we played well 2nd half. Also huge shout out to Kovacic who played with a lot more drive and intent today, caught my eye with maybe his best game in a Chelsea shirt, dont know what will happen with him in the summer but if he played like that more often we would definitely of signed him in January. When we are talking midfield, Kante was Kante, really like how hes progressed this season in a more advanced role. Defensively as well Emerson who struggled first half really bounced back second half and provided a good assist. Christensen had a really good game too against 2 very good strikers, hes come in for some stick this season so to play like this in a final, fair play.
  23. 51 games, 14 goals and 5 assists this season. Been inconsistent but that is a reasonable return compared to his previous seasons here. Think Pulisic will take his place eventually next year but maybe keep him around as a squad player? Can pop up with a goal.
  24. Must say 2nd half all 3 midfield players were fantastic. Even Kova who if he played like that most weeks, would be hugely more likely to be wanted permanently. Now do not entertain any bids for Kante in the summer please Marina.
  25. Makes sone sense (sort of) considering how open we were as well. Difficult to find that balance considering our pressing was poor and also the fullbacks and centre backs were exposed when we had players running behind a lot but it is vital to Sarris idea of playing too so its confusing. I think sacking him now would be harsh in all fairness, obviously some people arent keen still but I would say showing up 3 weeks after pre season started, getting 3rd place, a cup and the fact we played the Carabao Cup final too as well as the Community Shield (although due to previous seasons FA cup win) is right enough despite the bumps along the road and after tonight, he will be eager to win more. First trophy for a manager or player is always the one that gives that taste of winning so if he does stay, lets hope we can be more competitive and improve against the big teams especially as thats where we need to do better to challenge. Changes needed personnel wise perhaps and the ban isnt great for that but still optimistic he could get another season at least if he wants it considering Juventus have him in their sights. If they agree a deal with the club though and he feels like he wants to go because perhaps its never been "right" here so to speak, okay cant blame him. He has won more in 1 year here than Klopp and Pochettino did in their first few seasons at Liverpool (although one of them will win on Saturday sadly). Personally think, out of appreciation for how good a manager Pochettino is and nothing else, them cunts winning it would be bittersweet but more bearable than the scousers if they did, the cunts who celebrated finishing 2nd with 97 points as if it is magical even though they fucked a 7 point lead at the top months ago. Plus Poch would probably leave and Spurs wouldnt be anywhere near as good without him 🤣
