And why would he be so hellbent on leaving....? He was desperate to come here last summer and sourly severed his ties with a club which are his boyhood team. I dont think Juventus solely batting their eyelids at him is enough for him to just want to leave, okay they are in better condition than us, better run, better squad etc....the talk of family reasons (think thats bullshit because over 65% of the PL players and managers are foreign and in the same scenario)... but yes the transfer ban, all the fan discontent towards him, lack of support from the board after reportey asking for reassurances in his meeting, lets not take that into consideration and just say hes hellbent on leaving for other reasons. The way this club is run and his relationship with the board and the fans is undoubtedly one of main reason why he is hellbent on leaving and rightly so. He would probably be a fool to stay actually all things considered although I think there is a percentage who do want him to stay, myself included.
-
He said a week ago he wanted to stay at Chelsea though. If the club really wanted him to stay and had made a sufficient effort, why has he asked to leave? Family reasons for me doesnt cut it, this is a smokescreen in my eyes. He wanted reassurances regarding support, he wouldnt be asking to leave if they had said theyd stand by him and made assurances. Fair enough Juventus are massive and wouldnt be surprised but its very weird for a manager to say one week before he wants to stay at Chelsea, in the PL, then to go and change his tune after winning a European trophy and finishing 3rd, isnt it (having only lost 2 games in the last 20 as well)? Even then its reported hes not even Juventus' first choice... they want him, true but they wanted Poch and Pep before. Transfer ban or not, still, after saying that comments to change his mind a week after? Screams that the club havent tried hard enough or he remains unconvinced by what they said. Where as in comparison the club were stern with Hazard and Willian going in the summer. Says a lot when theyd put more effort into retaining Willian than trying to retain the manager. Just shows where we are at. The fan thing hasnt helped, its fair to say some dislike him and the booing Jorginho, him, his subs and chanting fuck Sarriball is proof along with the 2 protests. The whole fan discontent thing with Rafa prompted him to not even think about staying on after that interim spell as Jose was only confirmed to leave Real in April that season, Rafa came in around the end of November. So why stay and try prove yourself when your own team fans and the media have basically even after playing Ruben and Callum still slaughter you? It obviously has a bearing on the thinking and that coupled with what I think regarding the clubs effort to "convince" him to stay if we can call it that, surely any sane person would weigh that up. Id still be surprised if Lampard, whos probably the bookies favorite, (who the majority seem to think will come in and play all the academy boys, which is naivety at its finest, change of manager is gonna give all these average players another chance) comes in and does any better without Hazard (if he does if he comes in, I will eat humble pie). I honestly think we will have another similar season unless we improve the first 11 somehow, regardless of if its Sarri, Lampard, Allegri, Nuno... whoever in charge.
-
Would be interesting and would be for it although he would need to be fully given the trust to continue from the stage we are at. Leeds played some class football this season but also had a dip, reckon hed probably get similar treatment to Sarri as there quite similar in a way. Both stubborn, both have uncompromising philosophies, both have ran a group of 14 or 15 players into the ground due to lack of rotations and intense training routines.... plus Bielsa would be insistent on more control in the transfer side of things hence why he left Lazio because they failed to sign 4 out of 7 players he demanded before pre season started. He would probably demand the club get rid of some more experienced/squad/loan players though like he did at Lille but that ended up in a disaster for him and Lille too. His spell at Bilbao was impressive though, really was.
-
When have the fans ever protested here in the last 10 or 15 years other than when we appointed Rafa? So twice in a season is bad enough and considering it was quite daft and a by product of poor form too shows exactly where we are at. I doubt anyone cares about the online stuff but the studd you see some of these people go to the games and the booing and whatever else weve also heard this season is quite pathetic, particularly when Jorginho was bood.... Plus you were saying that the protests regarding CHO and RLC prompted him to play them to "save his job".... the alarm bells should be there, theyve been for a few seasons regardless but if someone like Sarri, a guy who we went through the ringer to appoint, doesnt want to be here because he hasnt got the necessary backing or whatever then what does that say about the club? This is a guy who has no interest in the transfer market as he said himself but again, he wants the club to back his stance on how he manages the players and how the team plays... shouldnt that not be a given at a club anyway? Also if the board werent going to sack Sarri, which I agree on after the ending to the season, they should throw their weight behind him and convince him they want him to stay but they havent, theyve probably not even tried. Even during the dip, similarly like with Villas-Boas, the club had every chance to show they backed him or show some sort of indication they supported him publically but they didnt (and no not actually sacking him is hardly the true show of support I was talking about). These sacking rumours didnt go away and ultimately now Sarri will probably have the last laugh because he will likely go to Juventus, which right now is a better job at a much better run club where hes actually wanted and will be given full support. Theres been alarm bells for years but to let a manager go due to his request as he hasnt felt hes recieved the adequate backing and support throughout the season.... what sort of imagine does that paint to his successor?
-
Laurent Blanc, no thank you. If it happened would support him but he is a very average manager, hence why he hasnt worked since 2016 and is only linked to caretaker manager jobs when someones getting sacked. Decent spell at Bordeaux before France but PSG with that money and that squad, was inevitable hed win the domestic trophies. Patrick Viera is a wildcard, not sure hes not ready for a bigger job. Hes been a manager for 5 seasons now including reserve and development level at City, 2 seasons in MLS and now has done decent with Nice in his first seasom but maybe top 4 PL club is still a bridge too far and he maybe needs another step. Dont think hed be interested anyway, I reckon Arsenal/City would be who he is more interested in managing some day. Lampard, already mentioned why I wouldnt be overly confident with that move in other threads. I think Allegri will have other offers and the likes of Luis Enrique (would he leave Spain for us though?), Quique Setien, Julen Lopetegui, will all get linked eventually. Along with Eddie Howe and Nuno. Just hopefully no David Wagner this summer.

Juve president is part of the UEFA executive committee. He was more than likely always gonna be there as he will be at the CL final as well I would imagine. The interest from Juve is real though and Sarri is basically off after meeting the club and telling them that he wants to leave. Again regarding Lamps, look at Henry at Monaco, look at Ole at United after being appointed full time. Lack of top level managerial experience among other things. Allegri has to be top target, think he could do well here, hes a lot more flexible tactically and doesnt just have one formation he prefers has used 4312, 4231, 352, 4141/433 throughout his spells with Milan and Juventus. Personally think the club should try persuade Sarri to stay but they are obviously not that fussed so fair enough. Does that mean Zola will leave as well? Allegri would want his full staff undoubtedly.
-
I think this is massive alarm bells for any manager coming in in the future. Who would want to come into a club where the fans and various media outlets have slaughtered a manaeger despite successfully getting third place and getting to 2 cup finals? People wanted a different style after Conte we got that, now there was a blip mid season but it sorted itself out and we finished strongly. The whole family reasons is a smoke screen for me, why would anybody stay where they clearly arent wanted? Juve really want him.... Marina clearly doesnt seem that fussed either so that shows the mentality of the club at the minute and what they actually think of Sarri. So yeah 100% if it were me or another sane person, theyd be off. He was very clear if his future was hinged on the Europa League final result they should sack him as it would be better for him to go. Actually quite annoyed hes going to leave, he needed time to continue working on our team (like whoever will take over after), hes made big steps in terms of changing the teams playing style and he deserves more time after how the season finished to get us to where he wanted us to be but I do see why he wants to go as well. Think a portion of fans and the media need to have a long long hard look at themselves. Embarrassment to the club and themselves. The club has also got to reevaluate thing upstairs. Good luck to him in the future and hopefully he can start winning more trophies along with implementing his style wherever he goes. That was his one criticism he hasnt won anything but now he has so lets see if he can continue to do so to enhance his reputation.
-
Precisely. Also Sarri's constant criticism has been he hasnt won anything, but as you said we humiliated Arsenal second half in a Europa League final, playing excellently. He also said in an interview he has to win more trophies now so they dont just say hes won one. I hope he stays for another season at least and can get the team playing more consistent and get another trophy or two, I mean we got to the Carabao Cup final as well this season so why cant we get there again next year or to the FA cup final? As well as a stronger top 4 finish as we wont challenge for the league and having a strong CL run? He deserves every chance to do it.
-
Then they will complain we are playing dross football.....

Europa League Final 2019 - Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal
OneMoSalah replied to Jase's topic in Champions Archive
Couldnt agree more. Was gonna say he was excellent offensively and defensively, used the ball great and was a key reason as to why we played well 2nd half. Also huge shout out to Kovacic who played with a lot more drive and intent today, caught my eye with maybe his best game in a Chelsea shirt, dont know what will happen with him in the summer but if he played like that more often we would definitely of signed him in January. When we are talking midfield, Kante was Kante, really like how hes progressed this season in a more advanced role. Defensively as well Emerson who struggled first half really bounced back second half and provided a good assist. Christensen had a really good game too against 2 very good strikers, hes come in for some stick this season so to play like this in a final, fair play. -
51 games, 14 goals and 5 assists this season. Been inconsistent but that is a reasonable return compared to his previous seasons here. Think Pulisic will take his place eventually next year but maybe keep him around as a squad player? Can pop up with a goal.
-
Must say 2nd half all 3 midfield players were fantastic. Even Kova who if he played like that most weeks, would be hugely more likely to be wanted permanently. Now do not entertain any bids for Kante in the summer please Marina.

Makes sone sense (sort of) considering how open we were as well. Difficult to find that balance considering our pressing was poor and also the fullbacks and centre backs were exposed when we had players running behind a lot but it is vital to Sarris idea of playing too so its confusing. I think sacking him now would be harsh in all fairness, obviously some people arent keen still but I would say showing up 3 weeks after pre season started, getting 3rd place, a cup and the fact we played the Carabao Cup final too as well as the Community Shield (although due to previous seasons FA cup win) is right enough despite the bumps along the road and after tonight, he will be eager to win more. First trophy for a manager or player is always the one that gives that taste of winning so if he does stay, lets hope we can be more competitive and improve against the big teams especially as thats where we need to do better to challenge. Changes needed personnel wise perhaps and the ban isnt great for that but still optimistic he could get another season at least if he wants it considering Juventus have him in their sights. If they agree a deal with the club though and he feels like he wants to go because perhaps its never been "right" here so to speak, okay cant blame him. He has won more in 1 year here than Klopp and Pochettino did in their first few seasons at Liverpool (although one of them will win on Saturday sadly). Personally think, out of appreciation for how good a manager Pochettino is and nothing else, them cunts winning it would be bittersweet but more bearable than the scousers if they did, the cunts who celebrated finishing 2nd with 97 points as if it is magical even though they fucked a 7 point lead at the top months ago. Plus Poch would probably leave and Spurs wouldnt be anywhere near as good without him 🤣
-
🤣 True. Regarding Eden a good send off, unfortunately for us he will be hard to replace but weve said the same about other players before. I really think if Sarri stays he will theow Callum in to his position when hes back fit.
-
Based on what? We sacked Scolari, Villas-Boas and Di Matteo who all won more in their careers than Lampard has in their first seasons (RDM lasted 6 months as full time manager after winning a CL and FA cup). Do folk expect the club to change their tune for an ex player? Cmon man, dont be silly.... Villas-Boas wasnt going to be sacked in his first year too and someone at the club said they seen him as someone who could be at Chelsea for 15 years after like 4 weeks. What the club says and what they do are two totally different things. Also, I wouldnt care if it were Sarri, Lampard, Pep or Klopp but finishing bottom half would be unacceptable regardless so to make that statement is ridiculous. If Lampard comes in he will get the same leeway as every other manager has. Ex player or not.
-
Id hope it is this. This guy has played at 2 of the biggest clubs in the world in Real and Juve, who had leaders like Ramos, Varane, Casillas, Ronaldo, Buffon, Bonucci, Chiellini, Marchisio etc where if the standards and demands arent up to where they should be you could imagine them chasing folk and being aggressive because of the demands at these sort of clubs. If it is that, I am not surprised that someone is getting into some of the teams faces, some of them need it desperately.
-
For all Marina faults, demanding 130m and if she sticks to it, it is fair play to her. 1 year left or not, if Perez really wants him as mentioned above, he should pay the fee we want. £130M is not exactly extortionate in todays market for a player of that calibre. They wait another year and they get him free but at 29 years old.
-
Haha yeah imagine. Think he will be the main man up top for them regardless of who takes charge.
-
Wouldnt blame him either. Or any manager. Lets be honest clearly him and a large portion of fans arent exactly on the same page. Plus Juventus is an incredible opportunity for most managers, never mind someone who was perhaps going to lose his job 5 months ago. Maybe 10 years ago managers wouldnt consider it compared to us but theyve grown into one of the top top 5 teams in Europe for me over the last 5 years while we have yoyo'd and are quiet honestly in a bit of a mess behind the scenes although poor recruitment has held us back too. Juve though, great team, very good recruitment and fundamentally excellently run (which we cant exactly say happens here). If we had their footballing men in behind the scenes wed be 10 times better off, look at some of their signings in past seasons: Vidal, Pjanic, Ronaldo, Dybala, Costa, Alex Sandro, Matiudi, Joao Cancelo, Higuain, Bentacur, Pirlo, Bernardeschi, Pogba, Morata, Coman, Tevez. High calibre, hugely successful and other than Ronaldo and Higuain who cost like 80m and upwards the rest werent exactly huge massive fees. Having that sort of shrewd footballing people involved with the club is a massive massibe plus to any manager at any club.
-
And when we had a bad spell werent people on here not slagging Sarri off? Cant work one way for those teams and not for us... Biesla is a better manager in my eyes, didnt have the greatesr spells in the last few years which I am surprised about considering how well he did with Bilbao. Still shocked he hasnt got another chance at a bigger club considering how highly he is regarded. A real engima although he is a fiery character as shown as Lille and Lazio. No manager is instantly going to come in and drop 5 older players for 5 youngsters if that is what people are expecting or hoping for. Theres too much pressure here, it must be intense for a manager where every season the club most likely expects a trophy and league finish of 3rd or above, having sacked managers for finishing 2nd as well or for winning a trophy still. Yes we have young players we need to integrate but its it will never happen here like it does at an Ajax or whoever else. Yet again a new manager opens up chances for the likes of Luiz (as proved with Sarri), Alonso, Willian, Pedro to all have another chance to impress instead of being phased out or moved on.
-
That is exactly what Sarri has done here, although for a majority its not good enough or merely enough to maintain his job... so if it isnt good enough for Sarri in somes eyes why is it good enough to say about Lampard? Different clubs and different capacities but undoubtedly it will be mentioned by some regarding Lampard as a potential appointment. Looking at Derby's season, theyve finished 6th with 1 point less than when they finished 6th last season under Gary Rowett and have a worse goal difference. Some people have said on social media it was good season, some bad, some feel because Frank Lampard is Frank Lampard and the fact they made the playoff final the seasons being looked at in a more positive note but its fair point to argue they arent much better off than last season and considering Mount and Wilsom who contributed to 40 goals between them will not be returning its fair to say they might not.manage as well next year considering a large bulk of their squad are aging as well. This lowering the age shit is also a double ended sword, Mount, Timori and Harry Wilson, all under 23 and featured almost every week, arent actually on the books of Derby County they are loan players like aluded to above. The likes of Scott Carson, Craig Byrson, Richard Keown, Tom Huddlestone, Bradley Johnston, David Nugent, among others, all made regular amounts of apperances and are all about 30 year old or above. The only actual kid from the Derby academy Frank gave regular minutes to was Jayden Bogle, who did make a tonne of appearances for a 17/18 year old. I get the wage cut and perhaps hes done well for them not to drop off completely but to say that he has done remarkably well is a huge overstatement I think. If he got them promoted, yes, you could say he did well but he didnt and from someone who doesnt like the playoff format of the championship as it is (finishing 4th, 5th or 6th and getting the chance to gain promotion is ridiclous) take that away would you say finishing 6th is really that good? I think if he manages to better that next season, without Mount, without Wilson, he will have done a pretty remarkable job because you cannot doubt how key they have been to Derby this season. The boy Wilson was a real breakthrough for them this season and can definitely play at a higher level. Mount perhaps as well, like has been mentioned Leipzig among others sniffing around but remains to be seen. Maybe Villa might fancy a punt on him next season?
-
Was never in doubt considering all he has done is speak about Real Madrid when asked about moving.... suppose any quote can be turned into an article these days, regardless of how true or untrue it is lol.
-
Great move for him. wasn't sure hed cut it when he went there but he has been consistent and proven himself. Fair play to the guy and now hes getting a good move where he can kick on. Probably miles better than Zappacosta.
-
What about Derbys spell this season where they were poor as well and dropped points? Do people honestly think Lampard would take over at get better than a 3rd place finish and 2 cup finals? Even which for a poor season with a lot of rumours regarding Sarri getting sacked, at least we got over the line... I know you dont like Sarri and many others dont but to replace him with Lampard next season would be incredibly risky and a mistake. Derby only finished 6th. Yes they got the play offs but 6th in the championship, considering the fact he spent 9m on Waghorn, signed Mount and Wilson on loan(very good calibre for the championship), has the likes of Huddlestone, Carson, Olsson guys with PL experience... you could argue the likes of Biesla or any other manager with those resources would have gotten a higher finish than 6th. If Sarri goes, which is looking more and more likely each day, Allegri has to be the top choice although he will have many offers. Very good record, expeirence managing big players at Juventus and AC Milan and which should be a massive appeal to this club a winner with both. Yes 2 league cup games but a lot of championship teams give PL teams tough games in them. Remember we lost to Bradford City years ago? Does that mean their manager would be a good fit? No. David Wagner got promoted with Huddersfield, would he of been good enough? No. Is the bloke who got Villa promoted good enough? No... If we had any other manager than Sarri you'd disagree regarding Lamps. I also dont see Lampard coming in and playing youth regularly which people are making a case for again (Tomori and Mount maybe good enough for Derby every week but if people are under the impression theyd manage to be regulars next season, for the love of god, squad players maybe but again squad players dont necessarily feature thst often). For all Sarris faults he used Christensen, RLC and Callum this season - yes not a lot early doors but they made more appearances than most other academy products have here in god knows how long. They are at a much better level than Mount and Tomori to play. Reece James is probably more ready and more mature than those 2 to be integrated into the Chelsea squad despite playing for Wigan, who were at the other end of the table. Even Tammy has a much better chance next year. Lampard (even Gerrard for Liverpool in the future), yes he will hopefully manage us at some point and Id be all for it based on if hes proven himself in some capacity as a manager but next season, that not far too soon? And when we probably only finish 3rd or 4th next year again? Or maybe worse with the transfer ban and Spurs, Arsenal all strengthening? You would think Lampard had done a Jose and won the CL with Porto or done a Pep and won countless trophies with Barca.... And theres no such thing as anybody being anti Lampard but there is definitely an anti Sarri agenda.... has been for months. If Sarri goes, considering the shit we have here, transfer ban, losing key players, we need someone with good experience to build us back up. Lampard would be out of his depth.
-
Well he isnt but again, there would be more faith from me if his team had at least shown up in their biggest game of the season. He isnt ready and should be appointed on merits as a manager, not as an ex player. Big games have veen our Achilles heel this season as well and other than the game vs Leeds from what I have seen of Derby, if we played like that against big teams many people wouldnt be happy.
