  1. "Another victory for Granovskaia" is that journalist tit for fucking real? When making money and not having stability or remotely trying to be competitive in footballing terms is the primary focus, then something is terribly wrong. Yes making money helps but fuck sake weve just sold our best player for a deal that could be 130m, won the Europa League, have television money due in for next season, CL money... owned by a Russian billionaire.... not to mention we cannot even buy anybody. Even if we could chances are she'd be on holiday again like the other year. How many managers have departed since she was promoted to chief executive in 2014 and taking on even more responsibility when Emenalo left?
  2. I love the optimism but I generally think other than Hazard and Pulisic the starting 11 will be the same as usual until RLC and Callum are fit, maybe apart from instead of playing 433 it will be 4231 if Lampard comes in but Im going 433 for now. Kepa Azpi - Rudiger - Luiz - Emerson/Alonso Kante - Jorginho - Barkley/Kovacic? (RLC) (CHO) Pulisic - Giroud/Higuain? - Willian Lets be honest change of manager and transfer ban gives everyone, who are good enough or not good enough a fresh slate. The likes of Willian, Pedro, Barkley, Alonso, Luiz will all get clean slates and will probably feature in 75% of our games next season as they are older more experienced players who any new manager will look to get onside and get support from in the dressing room. I do feel the likes of Reece, Ruben, Callum and Mason perhaps will also feature regularly in some capacity be it cup games (RJ & MM), starting (CHO & RLC 110% capable if they show what they did last season) and rotation (RJ & MM). I dont think Reece will start over Azpilicueta regularly next season. Dont think Azpi can play any worse than he perhaps did in the first half of the season either.
  3. Actually think it may be a good laugh if we went and appointed Tony Pulis. Long balls/huge throw ins to Giroud every match, Bakayoko clattering people chasing after his first touch, Alonso doing his best Erik Pieters impression and Willian being Willian. Na we need to get another manager sorted now Sarri to Juve is all but done basically. If its gonna be Frank then get it wrapped up quickly. If not, dont dwindle and get someone else in. If we dont get Frank then I dont know where we go from here seeing as Allegri wants to take a year off. Steve Holland definitely a wild card but couldnt see us realistically approaching him. Mourinho? I doubt that will happen. Nuno? Cant see it either. Javi Gracia? Please no. Its really looking quite bleak isn't it?
  4. Madrid fans were chanting for Mbappe at his presentation. Jesus christ.
  5. 🤣 Least resistance, so you think hes just leaving purely because Juventus is an "easy option?".... Theres much more to it. Its clear a large selection of supporters dont want him and havent since the dip in December. Transfer ban (which was the clubs own doing) is basically putting the handbreak on us from potentially improving. Its clear based on comments he made before the EL final that he needed to know that that one game didnt define his season or how the club felt regarding his season. Fuck knows how his end of season meeting went, I honestly think it would have very much been a trainwreck 🤣 regardless Sarri getting up and wanting to leave is probably on the club more than on him, lets be frankly honest. The arrogance of some of our fans is audacious. Better managers than Sarri would probably do the same. Conte was rumoured to have considered resigning after his first year (after winning a PL).... if that was true, which based on how our second season under Conte went, sounds about right. When has a manager ever decided he wants to leave in the Roman era and actually did it? Also Pep "easy option"? Did you see what he did at Barcelona? He dumped big big players like Deco, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Zambrotta, Edmilson, Eider Gudjohnsen, Yaya Toure, who had made key components of that team for years and made Barcelona better. Bayern also havent been anywhere near as good since Pep left which shows how much he improved them and got out of a squad which is still not exactly hugely different. Sure City have cash to spend but it still takes a lot to win a treble in England, in that sort of fashion, scoring that many goals etc. Pep isnt everyones cup of tea I get that but easy route? Please. We spent lots of money in the 2000s when Roman came in, were winning a lot of trophies from 2004/05 onwards, were we an easy route too for other managers? Dont be daft. Its no fluke Pep has won god knows how many trophies just like its no fluke Mourinho has won so many or Sir Alex or whoever. Great managers have trophy cabinets to back it up.
  6. 100% Still can't believe pundits like Rio Ferdinand, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Jermaine Jenas etc all thought Kante was a DM and should of played there at the start of the season. Hes never played as a sitter in his days in the PL except 4 games under Conte before we changed to 343..... these guys are paid to give opinions/discuss football on the tv... mental
  7. Jorge Jesus. Fuck me. Really scraping the barrel now. Also Steve Holland? I hate to think we are going to go into a season with no transfers, focusing on inproving the squad by integrating players who are potentially going to be very good/good standard PL players in the next few years like Reece James, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount and appoint a complete novice in terms of managing at the top level in either Frank Lampard or Steve Holland. It would be incredibly risky and perhaps bold but I dont see it panning out well for any of the two. Theres too much there that could possibly go wrong. Either the squad doesnt do as well as before with a lot of aging players such as Luiz, Azpi, Giroud, Willian, Pedro, Higuain, Caballero all declining ir FL/SH struggling to deal with the expectations/pressure at the club. Or not performing well and finishing outside a CL spot which would be dire for recruitment. Or various other reasons. No way Allegri would take the job because I think other teams will be interested but if not try get him on a 2/3 year deal, that gives Lampard, who I think will eventually end up in the dug out here if his coaching career goes well, enough time to actually prove his worth as a coach and then we can see. If not and if Allegri has done a good job keep him. Allegri is very much safe hands in regards to everyone else weve been linked with, similar to appointing Conte I feel. Experienced at 2 top clubs in Milan and Juventus, won with both, tactically flexible, able to get the best out of players by making a system to better suit them rather than shoehorning players into a fixed system. I think its a no brainer really, if hes up for it and we can get him, it would be the safest and more assuring move to take with this transfer ban next season. Hes shown that he can get the most from older players too, such as Khedira, Cuadrado, Mandzukic, Matuidi, who at their previous clubs were perhaps considered 'finished' or not good enough, which could be helpful because we have got Pedro, Willian, Luiz, Higuain, Giroud (was pretty pish other than Europa League lets be honest) etc who can all do better and he could get that from them perhaps.
  8. 100k a week would be daft to give to a guy who has played maybe 35 first team professional games. Give him the number 10 shirt yes and a new deal on £40k a week or something and assurances he will be a big part of the clubs future in the coming years. £100k would be incredibly naive and I dont think money was ever a priority for him, playing was, let him earn the chance to continue to grow here and not instantly give him a massive massive wage due to panicking because Bayern were apparently willing to offer him £80k a week or whatever. If the guy wants to stay and I think he will, particularly if hes offered the number 10 shirt which would be a huge sign that he is considered very very important, then he will probably sign for an improvement on his current terms regardless if its £X amount more or whatever. Hope the club make a smart decision regarding his wages though because if other youngsters play 30 games or so and then start demanding that sort of wages.... it could be bad for them and the club. Young guys need to work to prove themselves and shouldnt be handed hugely hugely lucrative contracts based on 1 season that many established players probably get.
  9. £80m for a guy who scored 5 goals and assisted 3 last season in 40 games in all comps last season. Pfft. £40m maybe I would believe it then but double that. No thank you. Even Pulisic had more goals and assists last season and he barely started.
  10. Arsenal players suffered muscle injuries due to poor training/recovery routines under Wenger. Reece spraining his ankle, CHO (first full season in PL and European top level football) and RLC's (his fitness has been questionable in the past for other reasons ie his back) unfortunate muscle injuries is nothing compared to the years and years of injuries Arsenal had regularly particularly with the likes of Van Persie, Ramsey, Wilshere, Diaby, Welbeck, Koscielny, Rosicky, Nasri, etc... we have a good medical staff, these guys will be fine.
  11. No thank you. Hes already said no anyway. Average manager. Hasnt exactly set the world alight with England which I would say is a very fair assessment. No doubts England have done worse with better squads but I think Southgate is limited as a coach and perhaps this showed when England came up against better teams at the World Cup such as Croatia and Belgium. International managers coming to club level is also risky. Some managers better suit internationals, some can do both or some only do well at club level. Think Southgate is better suited to international.
  12. Well depending on who comes in to replace Sarri, whatever style of play they want to implenent and whether or not this guy can control a football now, might have a big say. Really cant see him staying if we try continuing with this more open possession orientated football. Plus we already have Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic (assuming he stays), Ruben, Barkley and Drinkwater although he will probably he leaving. Baka isnt really a sitting midfielder either so really cant see him playing as Jorginhos back up. Or ahead of Kante and our midfield wouldnt be as dangerous with Baka and Kante playing in the same 3 with Jorginho sitting. Ruben when hes back fit has to play as well as the fact Ross and Kovacic have a lot to make up in terms of scoring or assisting goals this next season.
  13. My biggest concern is we could hahe sold him last summer for over 170m easily but have now settled for 88m upfront and 42m in add ons 🤣 which depending on what their based on might not actually fully pay out. For a club who is notoriously difficult to buy from unless their price is met ie. Diego Costa, Juan Mata, Oscar etc in the past it seems mad that we are willing to bow down to Real and let them sign our best player for 88.5m upfront with the possibility of another 41.5m which we might not get all of it. It just seems like something we wouldnt do as a club. Also considering we wont release our manager unless Juventus pay the full duration of his contract or wouldnt sell Willian for 65m because he was valued higher so why is it any different regarding selling Eden for less than the original asking price? If we didnt sell him and kept him another year how desperste do you think Madrid would be for a 29 year old free agent with huge wages and a huge sign on and agent fee?
  14. Perhaps but Sarri really wanted Higuain in the summer and didnt get him because the board wouldn't approve the move and wanted him to persist wih Morata so he went to Milan instead. Not saying he would of done any better but would of rathered him here then rather than when he came here extremely unfit in January. Signing him in January was a mistake looking back at it. If we got him in the summer he could of done pre-season here and been a lot lot fitter which might of helped him and us but even then his 6 month loan was underwhelming.
  15. Disagree, Allegri could do it I really think. Really good managers could probably achieve top 4 with this squad although its clear we need some big reinforcements because the top 2 will get further away and I imagine Arsenal and Spurs will also spend on players to improve. We need to be more competitive and strengthen areas of the squad but if we had a transfer window even with Hazard going, we could become a better balanced team. Although we are banned from signing anyone but still think a very good manager could achieve top 4, would just have to be better in bigger games. I mean cmon we won a league with Moses and Alonso as wingbacks, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as CBs. If a very good coach can do that, must be enough optimism to say we can get top 4 with this squad surely? Although we are a top CF and an Eden calibre of player short.
  16. Rumours at first up here in Scotland was that this document waa a fake. Although Celtic released a statement so maybe its not but still his name being scribbled off means nothing, we could have agreed to loan him elsewhere and after the whole Charly Musonda loan, possible we dont want to send him to Celtic.
  17. Unrealistic or realisitic it means nothing. What if their related to Reals CL and La Liga standings and they have a stinker this next season? Should have got paid the full amount upfront, they really wanted him, he wanted to go cant see the logic in taking add ons when Zidane is desperate to get Eden as opposed to the full fee upfront, if anything weve done them a favour. Thank fuck Moratas add on clauses probably never happened.
  18. Too soft mentally. Even at Atletico it will get tough if he goes on a barren run. Its odd the guy has shown he has great ability when he plays confidently but hasnt got the right mentality which is more important in football. Was Conte's tactics fault first and now the fans and medias fault.... toughen up man.
  19. £88.5m with performance based add ons? What a joke, theres no guarantee we will ever get that full £130m. Wasnt it not £130m we wanted to start with? What the fuck is Marina playing at? Turned down 65m for Willian but is willing to let Eden go for £23.5m more upfront and performance related add ons that may never come to fruition? She needs a headcheck. Or sacked.
  20. 100m is a joke. We wanted 120/130m, stick to our guns. Real if they really want him will pay. If we are going to reject 65m for Willian then we should definitely reject 100m for Hazard. If they wont pay it well tough shit not our problem. Doubt they will wait another year to get him for free aged 29.
  21. Part of running the club but hardly a huge thing in the overall scheme of things. Theres much more to a football club than just the footballing aspects. Even then a sporting director is a pointless position if the manager wants to deal with transfers. Hardly a huge sign of change is it if we change manager and get someone who wants to pick his own targets?
  22. Sporting director is barely running the club 🤣 If it was CEO or his position was on the board etc yes I would agree but sporting director is just a sporting director. He may he involved with potential signings (although again theres been a rumor he isnt going to have a complete say regarding transfers still) and a link with the manager and Marina but still hes hardly gonna have a colossal influence. We do need restructuring again but we need people who know what their doing, regardless of who they are.
  23. Have to agree but still think that Allegri should be the priority regardless of transfer ban. Think his tactical flexibility would be ideally suited to this squad and the PL. There is one thing that I am unsure about regarding Allegri other than the faft he will have other offers is how intense he is as a coach regardless of philosophy. A good example of this is Pep when he left Bayern and was replaced by Ancelotti, Bayern bemoaned a lack of intensity and challenge which ended up in Ancelotti being dismissed eventually and I think Sarri is another intense coach so that could maybe be a bit of an issue as Allegri is another guy who is a lot more chilled out. I think Juve fans were a bit concerned after he replaced Conte with this too, although they were disappointed with his appointment at first. Even then I think it could not necessarily be a big fuss but just something Id be maybe consider as a downside to Allegri, if you want to call it that. Some of these players need to be driven, pushed, provoked to do better. Especially a large quantity of the squad who have disappointed over the last few sessons. Although Allegri has won 5 Serie A titles in a row so maybe I am just thinking too much into it.
  24. Well to requote, you said you believe the board would be willing to give him extra time. Okay you didny say it but you beliebe the board would be willing to? Basically? Cmon we seen it with Villas-Boas before who again had just won a treble with Porto the previous season... there is no such thing as properly giving a manager time here. Again though, my question is what does Franks playing career have to remotedly do with his managerial career? He knows the club yes being a legend here but it has no other bearing on anything. Appointing Cech barely signals a change in direction, we didnt replace Emenalo who was basically sporting director, didnt manage to get Campos or Monchi in who were previously linked (even then who knows did we even go for them?) so I would hardly say appointing Cech is a massive change. Its a position that has needed filled since Emenalo left clearly based on some of the dross weve signed over the years. Just because the club wants to do what the likes of other clubs have been doing for years, keep integrating ex players and club legends into its running in some capacity its barely anything revelutionary or cutting edge, clubs have been doing it for years. Even then we have got ex players and have had them involved in some capacity: Jody Morris, Carlo Cudicini, Paulo Ferreira, Henrique Hilario, Joe Cole, Tore Andre Flo, Gianfranco Zola, Andy Myers off the top of my head all involved in different capacities at the club. Its hardly a signal of change is it when weve been doing it before across the board?
  25. His playing career should have no bearing on his managerial career at all... if he comes in doesnt do well he doesnt deserve a tonne more time because hes Frank Lampard... ridiculous. Weve binned top managers such as Ancelotti - who has achieved more than most in the modern game - for finishing 2nd. Also Robbie Di Matteo, not a top manager fair enough but a hugely popular ex player who won a CL and FA cup the previous season sas sacked after 6 months. Why does Lampard deserve special treatment based on his playing career? He will know the risks coming into it if we go for him. To get sentimental and use his playing career as a gambit for much more time than others who have done tenfold that what he has as a manager? Would be crazy. Regarding Eddie Howe, he is a decent coach but nothing more. He has done well in the football leagues and has earned his place in the PL though. Hes still got enough time to get a bigger club but he would need to do a lot better next season at Bournemouth and have a really good year considering biggish outlays on players such as Ake, Lerma, Jordon Ibe, David Brooks, Dom Solanke, Lloyd Kelly over the years for a club like Bournemouth. For instance if he had spent that sort of cash at the likes of an Everton he would probably get slated for finishing once in the top ten.
