In our match against Napoli, Garry Neville made ( as much as I hate to admit it) a good point that the goals that we and Arsenal conceded are a sign that defensive standards are on the down in all English football, not just the at youth level.

As we lack the kind of passing that splits defenses apart, we will have to force the opposition's defenders to make mistakes in order to score. But, to do that we will have to put them under pressure for long periods in the game, which requires from us to keep the ball and pass it in their half, something Raul is terrible at. That is why I believe we are better off starting Essien instead of Meireles and perhaps giving him a bit more freedom in going forward than the typical DM.

I think DD will start that one. AVB is probably looking at the FA cup as the only means to avoid three/four months of constant criticism and rumors of sacking by the media in the summer.

Was just about to post that. I think it would be a great move for him because he will play on a regular basis and will probably be offered much more money there. It would also be a nice change if we sold a player before he is 30 and has lost his market value.

I think if both DD and Torres leave in the summer, which is looking very likely, Romelu should stay at the club. I would much rather he remains under the watchfull eyes of our coaching staff because the next couple of years are crucial to his development.

Of course you have every right to criticize AVB but I am a firm believer that the manager knows the players much better than the fans do. Cole was not started because he was not 100% fit while Lamps seems to be leading the revolution against Andre. Essien has not played full 90mins since returning, the manager obviously thought that he could not keep up with the pace of such game. You have to realize that Andre is in a position where some players don't want him at the club and unfortunately for him, the ones who do believe in him include Bosingwa and Meirieles.

I'm surprised Blackman managed to play today, he was with the CL squad yesterday.

We had 58% possession and 15 goal attempts and almost all Napoli Chances came from individual defensive mistakes.....we weren't that bad.
