If it's not Mata then they will spend the 40m on Reus or Draxler or any other one of the countless highly-rated AMs in the world right now. So why can't we be the one getting the 40m? I get the sentimental issues, no one loves Juan more than I do. I even get the reasoning behind not wanting to send him to united. Like I said yesterday, it's risky. Plus, he's doing so well because he is at Southampton and he is the star. I think the media is very keen for united to make a big signing. That is why they are jumping on the band wagon for any potential transfer and exaggerating it just like they did with Dante yesterday. That said, I don't think that all of these rumors are completely made up. There must some truth to the united interest in Juan and our interest in selling him.

Rewatching our game against united, and I just can't understand how can someone who showed last season that he can be absolutely terrific like Carrick did be having such a bad season this this time..

Tbf, it was Juve's B team vs Roma's A team. Juve always had a policy of playing youngsters and fringe players in the cup, regardless of the opposition.

Same here, really. I would be tempted if PSG are offering the reported 37m, but the fact that it is united is another point against accepting this.

It's risky, imo. To bring a player in mid-season and wait for him to adapt to the team and learn the system. The options are also very limited in Jan and obviously if we want a player of Mata's caliber then he probably wont be eligible for the CL. And even though we got Matic for a good price, deals in Jan are often at an inflated price. Honestly, I think Mata will be gone in the summer but I don't see any need to get rid of him now and weaken our team needlessly. IMO, he still has a role to play till the end of the season.

We will NOT sell Juan simply because if we do, we will need to get another attacking midfielder before the window ends. Letting KDB go meant that Jose wants Mata here, at least until the end of the season.
