  1. I think and hope that he will finally fill that Ballack-shaped gap in our midfield that has been there since 2010.

  3. Oh, shit! Now I know that we're going to lose!
  4. We had some NBA stars at the Bridge this week:
  5. This rational and level-headed post looks sooo out of place in this thread!
  6. Sorry mate, inactive teams are automatically deleted at the end of the season. There's nothing I can do about it. I'm all for the promotion idea. What do you, or anyone else, have in mind?
  7. Yeah, but not for an 18yo! I think Shaw is realistically worth around half of that.
  8. We couldn't have given them Romeu because he's on loan till the end of the season at Valencia, we would have to pay the penalty clause for breaking that contract. As for Gael, I really doubt that we would snub their request to have him. He clearly has no future at the club and the sooner he's off our wages bill, the better.
  9. A bit? 30m isn't a a bit excessive. 30m for a fullback is plain ridiculous.
  10. Haven't really had much time for reading lately, unfortunately, but I reread about half of Nietzsche's "Anti-Christ" yesterday.
  11. Problem is that would require us to get 10 more managers because the active ones at the time are 14 as I said. Practically 13 actually as Ankit has not signed in since October. We could do one league with 14 teams but then the gap between some teams and mine or Term's would just be HUGE.
  12. In the Serie A most teams don't press and give you plenty of room in the middle but when it comes to defending in the final third, it's the toughest league in the world, imo.
  13. I just stopped at the title, tbh Yaya Toure is a one-of-a-kind player. There is no point, imo, to compare anyone to him or expect anyone to do the job that he does.
  14. Yeah the standards for defending has gone down in the Bundes Liga in recent years. I wouldn't want to see how these players cope in the Serie A, for example! That said, I think Holtby can do well in the EPL if he has the right attitude because he certainly has the physical attributes for it.
  15. A bit off topic, but I could never understand what people see the big difference between 4-3-3 and the 4-2-3-1 that we are currently playing, at least offensively. When we're on the ball, Oscar drops deep right next to the two pivot players to create triangles or to carry the ball forward himself then when the ball is played forward to the wings he makes a run forward similar to the runs that Frank had been doing for years in a 4-3-3. Admittedly the defensive side is different because of our pressing system which sees us press almost in a 4-4-2 shape with Oscar pressing with the striker, but in offense I see little difference between what Oscar plays now and what the most advanced CM in a 4-3-3 plays.
  16. Spurs? Really? Their pivot players have been average at best this season. Capoue has all the technical ability in the world and a brain the size of a peanut. Paulinho can run all day but can't pick up a pass for his life; he's just a worse version of Ramires. And I'm a big fan of Holtby, but he hasn't nearly lived up to his potential so far. Sandro is good but I'd take Matic over him.
  17. Everyone likes to pick on the introvert A virtual hug is all you'll get out of me: Oh, and hands off Steve, everyone! I saw him first
  18. It has exceeded my expectations of the time it would take Jose to get the team playing a definite system that actually works and doing so consistently. We haven't had that around here in ages!
  19. And that is probably why it was written: because it sounds nice. Not because it is true. How would a journalist know such a thing?
  20. Part of me shares that feeling but when I think about it logically, one game will not change the fact that they have an average team that cannot get top 4 and they no longer have SAF to get them points when they don't deserve any.
  21. Mate, have you taken a pessimism pill lately?! You sound sooo depressed (and depressing!) in the last few days!
  22. Not for young player who are looking to develop and become regarded as one of the best in the world, imo. Ligue 1 will never be as tough as the EPL or the Serie A or La Liga nor will it have even a fraction of the marketability of those leagues. I think PSG is a special case because it is in Paris and because it was already the biggest club in France and because it was practically endorsed by Al Jazeera who advertised the club A LOT especially in the Arab world and France. But even with all that you would not have expected Hazard to move there instead of here or Neymar to go there instead of Barcelona. I think it is mostly correct to say that if you want to be regarded as one of the best in the world, you need to move to the top teams in the EPL or either one of Madrid, Barca, Bayern or Juve.
