  2. Thank you for this post and the donation But the point is they can, and if it goes to court it will be much more than 300 pounds. It's not a risk we'd want Jim to take. The photos have been removed, but that has nothing to do with the infringement of the copyright. Meaning they can still sue us even after removing the photos.
  3. Guys, trust me, we've looked thoroughly into the matter before making this announcement. Our initial reaction was that it looks like a scam, but after researching, it's actually the law no matter how stupid and illogical it is. It turns out that it's something that has happened to a lot of other websites and blogs in particular and is covered by the copyright law. This isn't a scam in the sense that it is illegal. It's a legal scam that many photograph selling companies use to get money out of blogs and websites. That is the price of the two photos on the original site. If they take us to court, they would get more money for damages. Yes, unfortunately we've found out that there are lawyers that actually make a living off this since they get 40% of the charges. So, in conclusion, there is nothing we can do about the 300 pound charge. It's the law, unfortunately. We just need to find the money to cover the charges and pay next month hosting fees.
  4. The new sponsorship deal that Vitesse signed with Truphone, the company that is partially owned by Roman, is hugely important for the Dutch club that has lost in excess of 20m last year alone and will struggle to comply with FFP in the future without it. But the deal could also be potentially get Roman and Vitesse owner, Chigirinsky, in trouble. The issue is that Roman and Chigirinsky are not just friends, they are also business partners. They both own large shares in a Russian company called Snegiri. This means that the sponsorship deal will be classified as a "related-party transaction" according to FFP. That in itself is not an issue unless it the value of the transaction is deemed not to be as "fair value". This is what happened with PSG and their sponsors. Basically, UEFA will be monitoring the deals very closely and can screw Roman and Vitesse over if they want to like. So I think selling Vitesse to someone who has never been in business with Roman might just be a ploy to give Vitesse the money they need to still get into the CL whil keeping UEFA off Roman's back.
  5. What does Emanalo have to do with the Mikel deal? He wasn't even our sports director back then. Mikel was not signed because of Emanalo, he was signed because he was the second best player in the U18 world cup at the time behind only Lionel Messi. Naturally, he had most top teams chasing after him and we managed to secure his signing.
  6. Most probably, as a teenager he was either not so good going forward, or was in a team that had wingers but no fullbacks so he was thrown at LB. By the words of the great carragher: No one starts up at fullback because no one wants to grow up to be a Garry Neville.
  7. Well this is surprising if I think it means what it does: http://www.gelderlander.nl/algemeen/sport/vitesse-wordt-weer-verkocht-1.4398944 Can anyone Dutch tell me if this says that Vitesse owner is planning on selling the club? There's no way we're ending our collaboration with Vitesse, IMO. I have a theory why that might be if it is true, but it will take some explaining...
  8. We can't sue. They can sue us because the photos are theirs and were used without permission. However, they agreed to settle out of court for the 300 pounds charge stated above. We've looked it up, it's the law.
  9. Unfortunately, we've received some very bad news this week that could seriously threaten the future of the whole forum. We've found out that a couple of old photos posted on the forum a long time ago are copyrighted after their owner contacted us demanding we pay their price of 300 pounds or he will exercise his right of taking us to court. To be completely transparent with you, the demanded 300 pounds is largely problematic for us, even more so since the funds have dried up a bit in the last couple of months. As a result, we find ourselves in desperate need for your generous donations which have kept this place running or this great forum might not be able to go on. Any donation, no matter how small, is gratefully accepted and will be a huge help is us being able to pay the mentioned charge as well as the sever hosting fees for the coming month. The issue has also opened our eyes on a matter that we were not aware of previously. Photos, even ones found using search engines like Google, can infringe copyrights if posted on a forum without the consent of the owner. The forum will then have to compensate the owner even if the one who posted the photos was unaware that they are owned by someone, unaware of the copyright law, if forum is a non profit one and gained nothing financially from the photos, if the photos were removed, or even without a prior warning from the owner. Hence, we'd like to take this opportunity to encourage people to thoroughly investigate any photo they wish to post on here. If the photo has an owner or comes from a website that sells photos, then DO NOT post it. If you are unsure if the photo has an owner or not, then the best strategy is to be safe and not post it. Thank you very much for reading this and for your cooperation and thank you in advance for your donations. Yours faithfully, Nour on behalf of the TalkChelsea staff.
  10. Vitesse coach about PVA this season: 'He’s not ready. You cannot make the mistakes for Chelsea that he is making with us. It is not possible.'He is progressing and he is not an old player, he is 23. He is fast and has fantastic technique. Going forward he is one of the best but in defence he has to learn a lot if he wants to play for Chelsea. He must be reliable.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2591810/Not-good-Jose-Mourinho-Dont-worry-boys-theres-room-Chelseas-Dutch-talent-factory.html
  11. Alright, I think we've had enough racist, xenophobic, extremist and pro-slavery posts to last us a while.... Let's NEVER 'discuss' this again. Topic locked.
  12. 160K/wk for a 19yo. But Chelsea are the ones ruining football!
  13. He was fully fit in September..
  14. You can't really make that point when that debut came in May while the boy was explicitly promised 10-15 starts in August. If that debut showed anything, it's that he could and should have been trusted more throughout the season. The team, led by Jose, has made some significant leaps in several departments this season, IMO, but youth integration is, unfortunately, not one of them.
  15. Boys, play nicely or I'm locking this thread. I'm sure you can argue your point without insulting entire cultures..
  16. Every world cup is bought now. Qatar just went a bit overboard.
  17. My guess is that he wanted better odds for a bet on this transfer
  18. Anytime. Well, because your previous name was impossible to read, let alone memorize!
  19. Yes, but it's the kind of rumors that is very likely to be true because it makes complete sense. His wife lives in London and he owns a mansion there, so I think it's safe to say that he very likely prefers to come to London.
  20. Smart move! Log in name remains the same.
  21. Done. Log in name remains the same.
  22. He wants to move to London. Why are we worried?
