Even?? If the US army were in a challenge with Saddam to see who can kill more Iraqi civilians, then yes they got even with him and have perhaps surpassed him by 10 times since the invasion. You seem like a sensible person, I think you will agree with me that killing innocent people has never made anything even or just. As to Iran's Nuclear weapon, first of all a country who has more nuclear weapons than it takes destroy earth (over 200 nuclear head) does not have the right to lecture anyone about unnecessary nuclear weapons. Of course we would all love to live in a world free of weapons of mass destruction but the road to that goal does not start from Iran or North Korea, because as long as the western powers still have an arsenal of weapons they can wipe out the world with, weaker countries will always aim to procure nuclear weapons as well to protect themselves. Take Iran for example, although I'm not a fan of the ideology they wish to impose or their extremism, I can understand their need to defend themselves. They are hated by the biggest powers in the world for rebelling against a dictator far worse than Saddam, and neighbored by Israel, their enemy who happens to be the biggest military force in the region. It is only normal for them to be intimidated and seek means that ensure their survival. On a side note, you should know that the US is more likely to provide Al Qaeda with weapons (seeing as Bin Laden has fought with American weapons before when the now "terrorist" jihadists in Afghanistan had the financial and military backing the soviet Union in the 70s and 80s) than Iran. Iran and Al Qaeda are complete opposites. Iran are Shi'a and Al Qaeda are Sunna extremists. They hate Iran even more than they hate the west.
