  1. I think that some moves are contingent in selling players like Cuadrado and Luis. Either Jose is keeping things under wraps or Chelsea isn't getting the prices they want.
  2. He's technically sound, cheap, and proven at the PL level. For a squad that needs CB depth he's a smart purchase.
  3. Not really, Hazard always had a much higher ceiling than Oscar and Mata. It's just people hadn't seen Eden or couldn't foresee his future success even though it was fairly obvious that Hazard would be a world class player.
  4. City will get him. Hard to say what his ceiling is ... At times he looks brilliant and others he's an Aaron Lennon clone.
  5. He's exhausted. Jose needs to give him the last two games off and he needs to give him more rest next year. Hazard will be done by 30 if he does get more breaks in the year. Lots of uncharacteristic errors today which seem to be due to fatigue
  6. I know I know as Belgian this will come off as being a homer, but I think people are severely under rating Benteke. We don't know his ceiling because the best service he has had has been at Villa (excepting of course the Belgian NT) As a main striker at Chelsea I think he'd score between 20-25 goals. One of his great properties is that he has carried Villa for many game which would relieve pressure from Eden from carrying the burden. Plus he has excellent chemistry with Eden.. Who else is a realistic target to come in to either be 1 or 2 striker? There's not much out there that isn't vastly overpriced or unproven.
  7. Sure he does miss some sitters but he has scored some gorgeous goals in the PL.
  8. To be fair he suffered an Achilles tear in April of 2014 and those take time not only to heal but also for the player to regain confidence and play without fear of re-injury.
  9. It's funny reading through the old posts on Benteke. Does have some brain dead moments but when you look at his goals and highlights his first touch especially with his back to the goal is excellent and he's much more than a fox in the box. To imagine that he's been able to rack up 41 goals in 86 PL appearances while at Villa mostly under Lambert is fairly astonishing. Would love to have him but the real question is will being #2 striker be sufficient. I rate him just below Costa and I think he could be the #1 striker for most teams in the world.
  10. Don't have unlimited funds so I'd rather be more ambitious with someone like Pogba or Koke rather than splashing the pot for Bale or the glass tissue, Reus.
  11. Need to add a decent amount because there is no way the title run will be this "easy" next year. Arsenal, United, and City are going to spend big this next window. Arsenal less than City and United but still.
  12. Yes please. Relatively cheap and would be a good foil with Hazard.
  13. I'd read what the Saints message board has to say about him in the link above. They think he's cut above and is their best defender in 25 years to paraphrase.
  14. Would be a great pick up (no not because he's Belgian) but because he can also play RB if needed
  15. Yep, we're winning inspite of the coach who is great motivator but shite tactician. Can't wait for Tielemans and Musonda to join this group. Denayer at 19 is our best CB le sigh.
  16. Yep, please please can we get Preud'Homme in there or Gerets or someone with a tactical sense about him. Wilmots is like a bad Mourinho except Wilmots actually has a massive overflow offensive attacking talent at his disposal.
  17. It's silly but the league needs money to stay competitive. However, I do think we'll see a Benelux league fairly soon as the Dutch League and Belgian Leagues need to combine to improve performance in Europe and more importantly increase revenue. Top league with PSV, Ajax, Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Genk, Standard Liege, Feynoord etc would be quite interesting
  18. I think people are talking hypothetically. Personally I think Hazard will be at Chelsea until he can no longer perform at a Chelsea standard.
  19. If Juventus can get good selling points I think they will. With a possible transfer ban for Real and with PSG bidding who knows how much Pogba might go for (80 million euros?) At that price you could buy 2 excellent midfielders and have money left over. Sell Pobga Vidal and you could revamp your midfield and also address other areas and add prospects.
  20. I felt Bale was 100% gone before the possibility of the transfer ban for Real. I still think he will be moved but with his transfer fee and wages there's not too many possible destinations. United would seem be the most logical destination. I think while Chelsea could afford Bale I think his acquisition would limit what could be done at other positions of need. I don't think we'll see a megastar transfer to Chelsea in the summer. I do think we will see more intelligent acquisitions of talented players at excellent value similar to Fabregas and Costa, which I think will mean players Scheiderlin, Nainggolan, Witsel, who can be had between 20-30 mil. I'd love to see Chelsea pick up Benteke and Batshuayi for 2nd and 3rd strikers as that would make the strike force formidable plus Benteke going to any of United, Arsenal, Liverpool is going to be a big problem. A right wing like Griezmann would be excellent as Sterling is going to cost way too much. I think Cuadrado, Luis, Remy and possibly Oscar will be sold. I think Drogs will become a coach.
  21. True but Hazard's style of play fits in much better with the Spanish style of soccer rather than Bale's pace and power style
  22. Why would anyone think Hazard would go to PSG? It would serve no purpose. Woo win La Ligue 1 with a super team yay ... He's already won la Ligue 1 and been French PoTY 2x. Nothing left to do there. Only feasible teams would Bayern, Barca, and Real. I don't see Bayern happening because the Bundesliga is a step down from the PL in terms of overall talent and exposure. The only options are Barca and Real and frankly it's going to cost a small fortunate for either side to buy him. I think he'll stay at Chelsea until he's no longer effective enough and then perhaps move to a Belgian/French side.
  23. Don't think he's a good fit for Barca he'd be better suited in Real's current style. That being said he's certainly talented enough to play for Barca. I suppose I should bring up my post way early in this thread saying that Chelsea would regret losing him as he'd be playing for a top club in 2-3 years.
