francozola reacted to Special Juan in 🇳🇬 Kenneth Omeruo
Cool story here.....On Saturday he posted a pic of him with Boro striker coach Craig Hignett. I commented and said "Isn't it about time you started following me big Ken" a few moment later he did replying with "Done" later that night I tagged him the picture where he stood with my little lad and he liked it. My little lad played a match yesterday but before kick off we written a message to Ken on his vest which I later put on Instagram, he then liked it and has since posted to his own page....to say my lad is buzzing is an understatement.
He sent me a PM last night saying to tell my lad to keep working hard and thank you for the support.

Something that hasn't been mentioned so far - in each of our 4 games, hes scored our first goal of the game. And in 3 of those 4 games, gave us the lead. Something Torres' barely ever did.
Long may it continue, Diego.

I guess so, but that would leave us thin in central midfield. Last season in addition to Frank, Ramires, Mikel and Matic we also had Luiz who played a lot of games in that position.
Honestly the more I think about it, it was such a silly idea re-signing Drogba. If Mourinho wanted Drogba back then it should have been conditional to Torres leaving. Can't have two non-homegrown players taking up two foreign spots when they're not good enough to be in the squad. If the club aren't prepared to cut their loses with Torres, fair enough but now they've complicated things by adding Drogba because we're having to scrounge around looking for players (that are actually needed) to offload in order to compensate for his inclusion. Just silly.

What i find funny is Fergie, Rafa at Liverpool and even Wenger pre 2005 were all partial to defensive tactics when needs must, yet there was never bitter outrages by teams on the receiving end, let alone 'neutral' supporters.
Have we done worse (in terms off bus parking) than Fergie did in 2008 at The Camp Nou? or what Rafa did at The Bridge as Liverpool gaffer? or what purist Wenger did when he last won the FA Cup. -

francozola reacted to BlueLion. in Post-season review - Chelsea 2013/14
We've done in one year what Wenger has so far spent eight years merely trying to do. That thing is called transition. Winning the European Cup and FA Cup in 2012, and the Europa League in 2013 papered over some incredibly large cracks.
We've signed some incredible young talent in that time - Hazard, Willian, Oscar, Azpilicueta, Courtois, Lukaku, Zouma, Schurrle, Salah and Matic just to name a few - and we will no doubt add to that contingent in the summer when we bring in one, or maybe even two strikers, along with players like Shaw, for instance.
Us not winning the league this year is a blessing in disguise. We're nowhere near the finished article, but if we were to somehow win the league that feat would suggest otherwise. Think about it logically - if we win it, we'll spend less. That's because we'd be the best team in the country, right? Fail to win the league and we have to be a little more rational and actually strengthen the squad.
But the main thing about this season is that we've shown we're incredibly close to City. In fact, we're probably as good as they are, as our matches against them have demonstrated. Our issue this season is a lack of consistency, particularly against the younger sides. One thing about this Chelsea side is we're nowhere near as physical as we once were. Sometimes pace and guile will win you matches, other times you just need a catapult and a battering ram. Remember when we had Drogba, Ballack, Alex and company at the spine of the side? We've lost a lot of our brute power. We've addressed that by bringing Matic back, and with Lukaku set to return and Mourinho quite likely looking to bring in a powerful box-to-box midfielder to play in the pivot, we can strengthen in that sense as well.
This has been a season of many positives. Eden Hazard has emerged as one of the very best players in world football, behind only Messi, Ronaldo and Bale and on a par with the likes of Ribery, Zlatan and Suarez. Nemanja Matic has asserted himself as one of the best centre midfielders we've seen in a very long time (have we finally replaced Makelele?). Gary Cahill and John Terry have formed the best centre-back pairing in Premier League (and European?) football. Cesar Azpilicueta has emerged from the shadows to become one of our most important players. We've seen glimpses of brilliance from Oscar, Willian, Schurrle and company, and they will only improve with age and experience. But most importantly - we've seen Mourinho come back.
The sole reason people thought we had a chance of league success this season is the return of the Special One. If Rafa, or even King Robbie were in charge of this side, I'd have to be bluntly honest and say we'd have had no chance. We'd probably have struggled to finish in the top three. The man is a tactical magician, but what he has also done is disrupt every other goddamn club in England. He's piled pressure on City to such an extent they've underachieved (with their squad, they should probably be half a dozen points clear already...), he's sabotaged Arsenal's season by offering them Ba and then when it was too late to sign anyone else pulling the plug and making them suffer with Giroud and Bendtner up front, he's undercut David Moyes at every possible turn to pile the pressure on him. The bloke is a genius whether we're playing or not. Sometimes, like Saturday, he gets it wrong, but with him in charge again we will be a force to be reckoned with.
If City win their two games in hand, we'll be four points behind them, and I can't see that gap being extended by much at all between now and May. That is negligible, when you consider how far we finished behind the leaders in 2012 and 2013, it denotes an obvious improvement from Chelsea Football Club. If this is a team in transition, then I am very excited to see the final product.
The future is Blue.

francozola reacted to Bir_CFC in 🇧🇪 Romelu Lukaku
I'm not asking him to be sold. If you read again, I want him to be second choice and be used like Torres. But I do feel that he won't be able to improve his weaknesses enough and will only ever be good enough to be considered 2nd choice and so if someone comes in with a huge offer for a second choice striker, we should definitely consider it. Similar to Mata really, doesn't mean he's a bad player, just doesn't fit the requirements of what Chelsea need in a striker and is therefore expendable if and only if the right offer comes in.
I don't see the improvement in some key areas. He's scoring goals no doubt. He'll always score goals, I'll never doubt that but I don't see the improvement.
His weaknesses when he joined were:
Poor first touch Poor at holding the ball up Poor in the air Poor defensive workrate Poor offensive awareness Those are still his weaknesses. Doesn't matter if he's young, it's been 2 years and everyone will still say those are still his weaknesses. Mind you, this doesn't mean he's a bad player. I just don't think his strengths align with what Jose and Chelsea require in a first choice striker.
I think he'd be great as second choice striker and be used like Torres is at the moment against teams that allow space in behind where he'll only have to call upon his strengths. Similar to how Schurrle fits in our AM band. He's not good on the ball and struggles when involved in the build-up but is completely different player off the ball, running into spaces and utilizing his strengths.
I also realize no player is perfect. Everyone has weaknesses and it's easy to write-up ten paragraphs about every player and their weakness. So my point isn't really that he has weaknesses or he hasn't improved in those areas. I bring up those weaknesses because unfortunately to fit in this Chelsea team, he needs those specific qualities. So when I say he hasn't improved, I am speaking in relative to what I feel we need in a first choice striker.
In other teams, they may not care about a striker who can hold the ball up, win aerial duels consistently, link up and get 10 assists every season. These teams would sell prime Drogba for prime Torres. Nothing wrong with that, doesn't mean they are bad players, just means they aren't good fits. Similar to Mata, just cause we sold him doesn't make him a bad player. He just doesn't fit imo. The only way he'll ever be good enough to be first choice is if he improves drastically in the areas that I listed. So to project his future, I'm focused on those specific attributes and I haven't seen much improvement there over 2 years, hence I don't feel he'll ever be turn those into strengths required for Chelsea.
Second choice striker against teams that allow space. Impact sub when you need a goal. That's what I project for him as far it goes for Chelsea. And based on that, that player isn't worth 30M for Chelsea specifically. As in, you wouldn't want Jose to spend 30M for a second choice striker. Depending on playing style, he might be worth that on other teams, so if an extraordinary offer comes we should definitely consider it.
